It is narrated from Buraidah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) that once ‘Uyainah bin Badr, Aqra‘ bin Habis, and ‘Alqamah bin ‘Ullathah were gathered in the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). These people began to discuss their ancestors. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: If you people remain silent, I will tell you the reality about them. The ancestor of Banu ‘Amir is like that red or wheat-colored camel which is eating the leaves of various trees in a garden. The ancestor of Banu Ghatafan is like that rough hill which keeps people away from itself. Upon this, Aqra‘ bin Habis said: Where did the ancestor of Banu Tamim go? The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Alas! If only you could remain silent.

He said, "Since the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) forbade it, I have not drunk it." Then Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I was the most handsome youth of the Quraysh and had the best teeth among them. Other than milk or the company of people who spoke good words, I did not find pleasure in anything greater than these."

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) when a man named Ma'iz bin Malik came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have committed the sin of adultery. I wish that you purify me." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go back." The next day he came again and confessed to adultery again. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) sent him back again. Then he sent a man to his tribe and asked them, "What do you know about Ma'iz bin Malik Aslami? Do you see anything inappropriate in him or do you notice any defect in his intellect?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah! We do not see anything inappropriate in him, nor do we notice any defect in his intellect." Then for the third time, he came to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and again confessed to adultery and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Purify me." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) again sent a man to his tribe with the same question, and they repeated the same answer as before. Then, when he confessed for the fourth time, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) ordered that a pit be dug for him, and he was lowered into that pit up to his chest. Then the people were ordered to stone him. Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that we, the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), used to discuss among ourselves that if Ma'iz had sat in his house after confessing three times, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) would not have searched for him. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) only ordered him to be stoned after the fourth confession.

He thought that he would say something like the first man, but Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: I hope that on the Day of Resurrection I will intercede for as many people as there are trees and soil on the earth. O Muawiyah! Can you hope for this intercession and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) cannot hope for it?"

Similarly, when he sent someone somewhere, he would first ask his name. If his name was good, the signs of happiness could be seen on the blessed face, and if the name was bad, then its effects could also be seen.

When he feared that the enemy would overtake them, he began to wave his clothes to warn the people that the enemy has come upon you." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "That man is me."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،
It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was sitting with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) when a woman from the tribe of Ghamid came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have committed adultery and I wish that you purify me." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) sent her back. The next day she came again and, confessing once more, said, "Perhaps you want to send me back like you sent Ma'iz back. By Allah, I am pregnant." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to her, "Go back until you give birth to the child." So when she had given birth to the child, she came again carrying the child and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The child has been born." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Go and nurse him." So when she had weaned the child, she brought the child, and at that time there was a piece of bread in the child's hand, and she said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have weaned him." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) entrusted the child to a Muslim and ordered a pit to be dug for the woman. Then she was placed in it up to her chest, and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) ordered the people to stone her. Khalid bin Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) brought a stone and struck her on the head, causing blood to flow onto Khalid's cheek. He spoke harshly to her. When the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) heard this, he said, "Stop, Khalid! Do not speak ill of her. By Him in Whose hand is my soul, she has repented such a repentance that if a tax collector who is unjust were to repent like this, he would also be forgiven." Then, by the order of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), her funeral prayer was performed and she was buried.

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the gathering of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saying: Learn Surah Al-Baqarah, for acquiring it is a blessing and leaving it is a cause of regret, and the wrongdoers do not have the power over it. Then after remaining silent for a while, he said: Learn both Surah Al-Baqarah and Aal-e-Imran, for these two are radiant Surahs which will shade their reciters on the Day of Resurrection in the form of clouds, canopies, or two flocks of birds. And on the Day of Resurrection, when a man's grave will be split open, the Qur'an will meet its reciter—who will be like a lean man—and will ask him: Do you recognize me? He will say: I do not recognize you. The Qur'an will say: I am your companion, the Qur'an, who kept you thirsty in the intense heat of the afternoons and kept you awake at night. Every trader is behind his trade, and today you too are behind your trade. Thus, sovereignty will be given in his right hand and everlastingness in his left hand, and a crown of dignity will be placed on his head. And his parents will be dressed in such garments that all the people of the world together would not be able to pay their price. His parents will ask: For what reason have we been dressed in this attire? It will be said: Due to the blessing of your child's acquisition of the Qur'an. Then it will be said to him: Start reciting the Qur'an and ascending the ranks and lofty chambers of Paradise. Thus, as long as he continues to recite, he will continue to ascend, whether he recites quickly or slowly.

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the gathering of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saying that a nation with broad faces and small eyes will drive my Ummah, whose faces will be like shields (he said this three times), until they drive them into the Arabian Peninsula. At the time of the first encounter, those who flee will be saved; at the time of the second encounter, some people will be destroyed and some will be saved; and at the time of the third encounter, all those who survive will be destroyed. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah, who will those people be?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The Turks." By Him in Whose hand is my soul, they will surely tie their horses to the pillars of the Muslims' mosques. After hearing this hadith from the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) about the trial of the Turks, Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) would always keep two or three camels, travel provisions, and water skins ready with him so that he could depart immediately from there.

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he went out at night and met the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) took his hand and entered the mosque. Suddenly, the voice of a man reciting the Qur'an was heard. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do you think he is a show-off?" Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) remained silent. That man was supplicating: "O Allah! I ask You because I bear witness that You are Allah, there is no deity except You, You are One, Self-Sufficient, He begets not, nor is He begotten, and there is none like unto Him." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "By the One in Whose hand is my soul, he has asked Allah by His Greatest Name; when He is asked by it, He surely gives, and when supplicated by it, He surely answers." The next night, Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) again went out after 'Isha and again met the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) again took his hand and entered the mosque. Similarly, the voice of a man reciting the Qur'an was heard. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Do you think he is a show-off?" Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Do you think he is a show-off?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said twice, "No, rather he is one who turns (to Allah) and a believer." This voice was that of Abu Musa Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), who was reciting the Qur'an in a corner of the mosque. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Ash'ari has been given one of the beautiful tones of Dawud (peace be upon him)." I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Should I not inform him of this?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Why not, inform him." So I informed him of this. He said, "You are my friend, for you have told me a hadith of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ)."

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and asked about the timings of prayer. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) did not give him any answer, but rather ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who gave the iqamah for Fajr when dawn had broken and people could not recognize each other. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Zuhr when the sun had declined, and some said that half the day had passed, others said it had not, but he knew better. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Asr when the sun was still bright. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Maghrib when the sun had set. Then he ordered him, and he gave the iqamah for Isha when the twilight had disappeared. Then, on the next day, he delayed Fajr so much that when the prayer was finished, people began to say that the sun was about to rise. He delayed Zuhr so much that it was close to the previous day's Asr. He delayed Asr so much that after the prayer people began to say that the sun had turned red. He delayed Maghrib until the disappearance of the twilight, and Isha until the first third of the night. Then he called the questioner and said: The time for prayer is between these two times.

The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah will reward you for it, and the slave girl has also come to you as inheritance." She said, "My mother passed away without performing Hajj. Once, that man was sent as the leader of a group of horsemen, so I also went with him, and only on the basis that he disliked Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). We captured some prisoners and wrote a letter to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) asking him to send someone to us who could collect the khums (one-fifth) of the spoils of war. So the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) sent Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) to us. Among those prisoners was "Waseefah," who was the most distinguished woman among the captives. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) collected the khums and distributed it, then he came out with his head covered. We asked him, "O Abu al-Hasan! What is this?" He said, "Did you see that 'Waseefah' who was among the captives? When I collected the khums, she was included in the khums, then she came into the household of the Prophet, and from there she came into the family of Ali, and I have had relations with her." That man wrote a letter to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) informing him of this situation. I said to him, "Send this letter by my hand." So he sent me to confirm it. I presented myself in the presence of the Prophet and began to read the letter, and he said, "He has spoken the truth." The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) lifted my hand from the letter and said, "Do you dislike Ali?" I said, "Yes." The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "Do not dislike him, rather, if you love him, increase your love for him, for by the One in whose hand is the life of Muhammad (ﷺ), the share of the family of Ali in the khums is better than 'Waseefah.' After this statement, there was no one more beloved to me than Ali (may Allah be pleased with him)."

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he was among the 24 companions (may Allah be pleased with them) of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) who were with the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) was offering prayer near Maqam Ibrahim, and the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were sitting behind, waiting. After finishing the prayer, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) moved towards the Ka'bah as if trying to catch something. Then he returned, and the companions (may Allah be pleased with them) stood up. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) gestured with his blessed hand for them to sit, so they sat down. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) asked them, "Did you see me, after finishing the prayer, moving towards the Ka'bah as if I was trying to catch something?" They replied, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Paradise was presented before me, and I have never seen anything like its blessings. A bunch of grapes passed before me which I liked, so I moved forward to catch it, but it moved ahead of me. If I had caught it, I would have planted it before you so that you could eat the fruits of Paradise. And know that the mushroom is a cure for the eyes, and Ajwa is a fruit of Paradise, and this black seed which is in salt is a cure for every disease except death."

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of victory, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) performed several prayers with a single ablution. It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was present in the gathering of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saying: Learn Surah Al-Baqarah, for acquiring it is a blessing and leaving it is a cause of regret, and the wrongdoers cannot withstand it. Then after remaining silent for a while, he said: Learn both Surah Al-Baqarah and Aal-e-Imran, for these two radiant Surahs will provide shade to their reciters on the Day of Resurrection in the form of clouds, canopies, or two flocks of birds, and they will argue on behalf of their reciters.

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: On the Day of Resurrection, when a person's grave will be split open, the Qur'an will meet its reciter in the form of a lean man and will say to him: I am your companion, the Qur'an, who kept you thirsty in the intense heat of the afternoons and kept you awake at night.

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: The sanctity of the women of the Mujahideen is like that of their mothers for those who stay behind waiting for Jihad. If any person among those who stay behind becomes responsible for the family of a Mujahid and then betrays that trust, he will be made to stand before that Mujahid on the Day of Resurrection, and the Mujahid will take from his deeds whatever he wishes. Now what do you think?

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, appointed someone as the commander of a detachment or an army, he would especially advise him to fear Allah regarding himself and would emphasize that he treat the Muslims who were with him in the best manner. Then he would say: Fight in the name of Allah, in the way of Allah, and fight those who disbelieve in Allah. When you meet your enemy from among the polytheists, invite them to three things. If they accept any one of them, accept it from them and refrain from fighting them. First, invite them to Islam. If they accept, then accept it from them. Then invite them to migrate from their land to the land of the Muhajireen, and inform them that if they do so, they will have the same rights and responsibilities as the Muhajireen. If they refuse and prefer to remain in their own land, then inform them that they will be considered like the Bedouin Muslims; the commands of Allah will apply to them as they apply to all Muslims, but they will not have any share in the spoils of war unless they participate in jihad with the Muslims. If they refuse this, then invite them to pay the jizya. If they accept, then accept it from them and refrain from fighting them. But if they refuse even this, then seek help from Allah and fight them.

We have come to know how to send salutations (salaam) upon you, now tell us how should we send blessings (durood) upon you?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Say like this: O Allah! Send Your favors, mercy, and blessings upon Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his family, as You sent upon the family of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Surely, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious."

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) once returned from a battle, and a black woman came to the court of the Prophet and said, "I had made a vow that if Allah brought you back safely, I would express my happiness by playing the drum before you." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If you made this vow, then fulfill your vow, and if you did not, then do not do it." So she started playing the drum. In the meantime, Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and she kept playing. Then some other people came, but she continued playing. After a little while, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) came, so she hid her drum behind her and covered her face. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) saw this and said, "O Umar! Satan is afraid of you. I was sitting here, and these people also came, but when you came, she did what she did."

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that we laid siege to Khaybar, so Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag, but he returned without conquering the specific and important fort. The next day, he took the flag again and set out, but even today the fort could not be conquered, and on that day, people faced much hardship and difficulty. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Tomorrow I will give this flag to a person whom Allah and His Messenger love, and he loves Allah and His Messenger, and he will not return without achieving victory." So, all night we remained happy at the thought that tomorrow this fort would also be conquered. When morning came, after the Fajr prayer, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and called for the flag. People were sitting in their rows. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) called Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who was suffering from an eye ailment. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) applied his saliva to his eyes and handed the flag over to him, and through his hands, the fort was conquered, although I too was among those who desired it.

The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Umar! If I had not considered your sense of honor, I would have surely entered that palace.' He (Umar) submitted, 'O Messenger of Allah! Would I ever show honor in front of you?' Then the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), 'How did you get ahead of me in Paradise?' He replied, 'Whenever I became impure (lost ablution), I would perform ablution and offer two rak'ahs (units of prayer).' The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'That is the reason for it.'

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Salman Farsi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah Munawwarah, he brought a platter of fresh dates to the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and placed it before him. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Salman! What is this?" He replied, "It is charity for you and your companions." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Take it away, we do not eat charity." He took it away, and the next day brought dates in the same manner and placed them before the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) (the same question and answer took place, and he came again on the third day). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Salman! What is this?" He replied, "This is a gift for you." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) included his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) in it as well. Then he (Salman) saw the Seal of Prophethood on the blessed back of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and accepted faith. Since he was a slave of a Jew, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) bought him for a certain amount of dirhams and on the condition that the Muslims would plant a garden and work in it until it bore fruit. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) planted the saplings in that garden with his own blessed hands, except for one sapling which Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had planted, and in the same year all the trees bore fruit except for that one tree. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "What is the matter with this one?" Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "O Messenger of Allah! I planted it." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) uprooted it and planted it himself, and it too bore fruit in the same year.

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) appointed someone as the commander of a detachment or an army and sent him off, he would especially advise him to fear Allah regarding himself and would emphasize treating the Muslims who were with him in the best manner. Then he would say: Fight in the way of Allah in the name of Allah, fight those who disbelieve in Allah. When you meet your enemy, invite them to accept one of three things. Whichever of these they accept, accept it from them and refrain from fighting them. First, invite them to Islam. If they accept, then accept it from them. Then invite them to migrate from their land to the abode of the emigrants, and inform them that if they do so, they will have the same rights and duties as the emigrants. If they refuse and prefer to remain in their own land, then inform them that they will be considered like the Bedouin Muslims; Allah’s commands will apply to them as they apply to all Muslims, but they will not have any share in the spoils of war unless they fight alongside the Muslims. If they refuse this, then invite them to pay the jizya. If they accept, then accept it from them and refrain from fighting them. But if they refuse even this, then seek Allah’s help and fight them.

It is narrated from Buraidah (may Allah be pleased with him) that we laid siege to Khaybar. Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) took the flag, but he returned without conquering the specific and important fort. The next day, he again took the flag and set out, but even today the fort could not be conquered, and on that day, the people faced much hardship and difficulty. The people were sitting in their rows. When Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) confronted the people of Khaybar, Marhab came before him reciting boastful verses: "All of Khaybar knows that I am Marhab, armed, brave, and experienced; sometimes I fight with a spear and sometimes with a sword, when lions come roaring before me." Then Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) faced him, and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) struck such a blow on his skull that his sword passed through his jaw, and the army heard the sound of Ali's (may Allah be pleased with him) strike. Eventually, victory was granted to them.

The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allah will reward you for it, and the slave girl has also come to you as inheritance." She said, "My mother passed away without performing Hajj. Can my performing Hajj on her behalf suffice for her?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Yes! You should perform Hajj on behalf of your mother."

So I informed him, and he said, "You have always been my friend."

They replied, 'It belongs to a Muslim man from the Ummah of Muhammad (ﷺ).' I said, 'I am myself Muhammad (ﷺ), whose palace is this?' They replied, 'It is Umar bin Khattab's.' The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Umar! If I had not considered your sense of honor, I would have surely entered that palace.' He (Umar) submitted, 'O Messenger of Allah! Would I ever show honor in front of you?' Then the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), 'How did you precede me in Paradise?'
