Hadith of Abdullah ibn Malik ibn Buhayna (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ (١)، ٢٢٩١٩ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، أَنَّ ابْنَ بُحَيْنَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " قَامَ فِي الثِّنْتَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ نَسِيَ الْجُلُوسَ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ إِلَى أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ خَتَمَ بِالتَّسْلِيمِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) after leading two rak'ahs of the Zuhr prayer, forgot and stood up straight. Then, when he neared the end of the prayer, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness (sahw) and, after saying salam, completed the prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ: " صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةً نَظُنُّ أَنَّهَا الْعَصْرُ، فَقَامَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ لَمْ يَجْلِسْ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) forgot and stood up straight after performing two rak'ahs in the Zuhr prayer, instead of sitting. Then, when he neared the end of the prayer, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness (sahw) and completed the prayer after saying salam.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعْدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: رَأَى رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ، وَقَدْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ لَاثَ النَّاسُ بِهِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الصُّبْحُ أَرْبَعًا؟ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saw a man performing the two Sunnah rak'ahs of Fajr at a time when the congregational prayer had already begun. After the prayer was finished, the people surrounded him, and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Are there four rak'ahs in Fajr?"

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هُرْمُزَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " هَلْ قَرَأَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ مَعِي آنِفًا؟ " قَالُوا: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: " إِنِّي أَقُولُ مَا لِي أُنَازَعُ الْقُرْآنَ " فَانْتَهَى النَّاسُ عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ مَعَهُ حِينَ قَالَ ذَلِكَ (١)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) asked the people, "Did any of you recite along with me in the prayer just now?" The people replied, "Yes!" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "That is why I was wondering why there was a dispute with me." When the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said this, the people stopped reciting along with the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) in prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ هُرْمُزَ، عَنِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا سَجَدَ تَجَنَّحَ فِي سُجُودِهِ حَتَّى يُرَى وَضَحُ إِبْطَيْهِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) performed prostration, he would spread his arms so much that the whiteness of his blessed armpits could be seen.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ أَنَّهُ: سَمِعَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجَ أَنَّهُ: سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ ابْنَ بُحَيْنَةَ يَقُولُ: " احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَحْيِ جَمَلٍ مِنْ طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ عَلَى وَسَطِ رَأْسِهِ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) once, while in the state of Ihram, had cupping performed in the middle of his head with a piece of camel bone on one of the roads of Makkah Mukarramah.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ: " إِذَا صَلَّى فَرَّجَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saw a man performing the two Sunnah rak'ahs of Fajr at a time when the congregational prayer had already begun. After the prayer was finished, the people surrounded him, and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Are there four rak'ahs in Fajr?"

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِهِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي يُطَوِّلُ صَلَاتَهُ، أَوْ نَحْوَ هَذَا، بَيْنَ يَدَيْ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَجْعَلُوا هَذِهِ مِثْلَ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ قَبْلَهَا وَبَعْدَهَا اجْعَلُوا بَيْنَهُمَا فَصْلًا " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Buhaina (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saw a man performing the two Sunnah rak'ahs of Fajr at a time when the congregational prayer had already begun. After the prayer, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Do not make this prayer like the Zuhr prayer, in which the rak'ahs before and after are joined together; rather, make a separation between them.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، وَحَجَّاجٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ، وَغَيْرِهِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ: فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ حَفْصَ بْنَ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، عَنْ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ، وَقَدْ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَاثَ بِهِ النَّاسُ فَقَالَ: " الصُّبْحُ أَرْبَعًا؟ " (١)،

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ هُرْمُزَ الْأَعْرَجَ مَوْلَى رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ ابْنَ بُحَيْنَةَ الْأَزْدِيَّ، أَزْدَ شَنُوءَةَ وَهُوَ حَلِيفُ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ، قَالَ: " صَلَّى لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ وَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ بَعْدَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ، فَقَامَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى صَلَاتَهُ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ قَبْلَ التَّسْلِيمِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ " (١)،

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي بِخَطِّ يَدِهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،، ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَالِكِ ابْنِ بُحَيْنَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ لِصَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ، وَابْنُ الْقِشْبِ يُصَلِّي، فَضَرَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْكِبَهُ وَقَالَ: " يَا ابْنَ الْقِشْبِ تُصَلِّي الصُّبْحَ أَرْبَعًا، أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ،؟ " ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ يَشُكُّ (١)، ،
