(If you have no need of her) then marry her to me.” The Prophet (ﷺ) did not reply to him, until the woman stood up three times. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked that man, “Do you have anything to give her as mahr (dowry)?” He said, “I have nothing.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Go and look for something.” He said, “I have nothing.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Go, even if you find an iron ring, bring that.” He said, “I could not even find an iron ring.” The Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, “Do you know anything of the Qur’an?” He said, “Yes! Such and such surahs.” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “I have married her to you because of the portions of the Qur’an you know.”

Someone asked Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) how the wound of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was treated. He replied that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would bring water in his shield, and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) would wash the blood from his blessed face. Both of them came to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and asked about it. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ), deciding the matter, said: "It refers to my mosque."

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was some discord among certain Ansari people, for the reconciliation of whom the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) went. When the time for prayer came, Bilal came to Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "O Abu Bakr! The time for prayer has come, but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) is not present here. Should I give the adhan and say the iqamah, and you step forward to lead the prayer?" After Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) finished the prayer, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "O Abu Bakr! What prevented you from staying in your place?" He replied, "How could the son of Abu Quhafa dare to step ahead of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ)?" Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to the people, "Why did you clap your hands?" They replied, "So that we could inform Abu Bakr." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Clapping is for women, and saying 'Subhan Allah' is for men."

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Beware even of minor and insignificant sins, for their example is like that of people who camped in a valley; one person brought a stick, another brought another stick, and in this way they gathered enough to bake their bread. And when a person is taken to account for insignificant sins, they will destroy him."
And the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: "The example of myself and the Hour is like these two fingers." Saying this, the Prophet (ﷺ) placed a slight gap between his middle finger and his thumb. And he said: "The example of myself and the Hour is like two horses that are alike." Then he said: "The example of myself and the Hour is like that of a person whom his people have sent ahead as a scout. When he fears that the enemy will overtake him, he waves his garment to warn the people that the enemy has reached you." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "That man is me."

It is narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have seen those people who, due to the narrowness of their lower garments, used to tie knots of their garments around their necks like children, and they used to pray behind the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) in this state. One day, someone said, “O group of women! Do not raise your heads from prostration until the men have raised their heads.”

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that in one of the battles there was a man with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) who performed remarkable feats of bravery on the battlefield. The Muslims were very pleased with him, but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This man is from the people of Hell." We said, "Even though he is in the path of Allah and with the Messenger of Allah?" Allah and His Messenger know best. During the battle, that man was wounded, and when the pain of the wound became severe, he placed his sword on his chest and thrust it through himself. Seeing this, a man came to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and reported, "The man about whom you made that statement—I saw him thrust his sword into his own body." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A person may appear to people to be doing the deeds of the people of Paradise, but in reality, he is from the people of Hell. Similarly, a person may appear to people to be doing the deeds of the people of Hell, but in reality, he is from the people of Paradise."

Someone asked Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) had seen sifted flour with his own eyes before his passing. He replied that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) never saw sifted flour with his own eyes until he met Allah. The questioner asked, "Did you people have sieves during the Prophetic era?" He replied, "We did not have sieves." The questioner asked, "Then what did you do with barley?" He replied, "We used to blow on it; whatever was to fly away would fly away."

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were digging the trench along with the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) during the Battle of the Trench, and we were carrying the soil on our shoulders and taking it away. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), seeing this, began to say: O Allah! The real life is the life of the Hereafter. O Allah! Forgive the Muhajireen and the Ansar.

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that there was some discord among certain Ansari people, for the reconciliation of whom the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) went. When the time for prayer came, Bilal came to Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "O Abu Bakr! The time for prayer has come, but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) is not present here. Should I give the adhan and then the iqamah, and you step forward to lead the prayer?" Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "As you wish." So Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the adhan and iqamah, and Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) stepped forward and began the prayer. Meanwhile, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) arrived. The people started clapping, and sensing this, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) began to step back. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) signaled to him to remain in his place, but Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) moved back, and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) stepped forward and led the prayer. He replied, "How could the son of Abu Quhafa dare to step ahead of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ)?" Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to the people, "Why did you clap?" They replied, "So that we could inform Abu Bakr." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Clapping is for women, and saying 'Subhan Allah' is for men."

It is narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman brought a woven sheet to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), "which had a border on both sides." (Sahl, may Allah be pleased with him, also described the sheet to the people) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I have made this with my own hands and brought it to you so that you may wear it." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) needed it, so he accepted the sheet from her. After a short while, when the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) came out, that sheet was on his blessed body. A man, "whose name Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) had mentioned," touched it and said, "How excellent this sheet is! O Messenger of Allah! Please give it to me to wear." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Alright," went home, folded it, and sent it to that man. The people said to him, "By Allah! You did not do well. This sheet was given to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) by someone, and the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) also needed it, yet you asked him for it, even though you know that he never turns away a beggar empty-handed." He replied, "By Allah, I did not ask for this sheet to wear it, but I asked for it so that it may become my shroud at the time of my death." Thus, the day he passed away, that very sheet was his shroud.

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that I was present in a gathering of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) in which the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was describing the conditions of Paradise. When the conversation was about to end, he finally said: There will be such things there that no eye has seen, nor any ear has heard, nor has it ever occurred to the heart of any human. Then he recited this verse: "Their sides forsake their beds, they call upon their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend out of what We have provided them. No soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as a reward for what they used to do."

Then she took a mat, burned it, and filled the wound with its ashes (which stopped the bleeding).

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that Uwaymir (may Allah be pleased with him) once came to Asim bin Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, "Ask the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) about this issue: if a man finds another man with his wife and kills him, will he also be killed in retaliation, or what will be done with him?" Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) about this issue, but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) did not like this question. Later, Uwaymir (may Allah be pleased with him) met Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked, "What happened?" Asim (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "What could have happened? You did not tell me a good thing. I asked the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), but he did not like the question." Uwaymir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "By Allah! I will go myself to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and will definitely ask him this question." So he presented himself in the court of Prophethood, and by that time, revelation had already come to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) regarding this matter. Therefore, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) called both husband and wife and had them perform li'an (mutual cursing). Then Uwaymir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! If I take her with me, it will mean that I have wronged her." So, even before the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) gave the order, he separated from his wife (divorced her), and this became the practice among those who performed li'an. Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Take care of this woman. If she gives birth to a child who is dark-skinned, with black eyes and large buttocks, then I will consider Uwaymir truthful. And if she gives birth to a child who is reddish in complexion and resembles a lizard, then I will consider him a liar." So, the child that was born to her had the undesirable traits (about which the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had said that if the child is born with these traits, then I will consider Uwaymir truthful).

Should I give the call to prayer and the iqamah, and will you step forward to lead the prayer?" Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "As you wish." So Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the adhan and the iqamah, and Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) stepped forward and began the prayer. In the meantime, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) arrived. People started clapping, and sensing this, Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) began to step back. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) gestured to him to remain in his place, but Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) moved back, and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) stepped forward and led the prayer. They replied, "So that we could inform Abu Bakr." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Clapping is for women, and saying 'Subhan Allah' is for men."

It is narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with the people when a woman came to the court of the Prophet and said, “O Messenger of Allah! I have gifted myself to you, so whatever is your opinion (about me).” (She stood for quite a while.) Then a man stood up and said, “O Messenger of Allah!

I asked the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), but he did not like this question." Uwaymir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "By Allah! I will go myself to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and will ask him this question." So he presented himself in the court of Prophethood, and by that time, revelation had already come to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) regarding this matter. Therefore, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) called both husband and wife and had them perform li'an (mutual cursing). Then Uwaymir (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! If I take her back with me, it would mean that I have wronged her." So, even before the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) commanded, he separated from his wife (divorced her), and this practice became established among those who perform li'an.

The details of all these matters are as follows: Once, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) sent a message to a woman who had a slave carpenter, saying: 'Tell your carpenter slave to make some wooden planks for me so that I may sit on them while delivering sermons.' The woman ordered her slave accordingly, so he went to 'Ghaba', cut wood from a tree, and made a pulpit consisting of three steps. The woman sent that pulpit to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) had it placed exactly where you see it today, and on that very day, he sat on it for the first time and proclaimed the takbeer. Then he descended backwards and prostrated. The people also prostrated along with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) until it was completed. He then said: 'O people! I did this so that you may follow me and learn my way of performing prayer.' Someone asked Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him): 'Is the story about the trunk that is famous among the people true?' He replied: 'The incident that occurred did indeed take place.'"

It is narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Guarding for one day in the way of Allah is better than the world and whatever is in it. Going out for one morning or one evening in the way of Allah is better than the world and whatever is in it. And the place of a whip in Paradise for any person is better than the world and whatever is in it.

It is narrated from Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saying: I will wait for you at the Pond of Kawthar. Whoever comes there will drink its water, and whoever drinks its water will never feel thirsty again. Abu Hazim says that when Nu'man bin Abi Ayyash heard me narrating this hadith, he said: Did you hear Sahl (may Allah be pleased with him) saying it like this? I replied: Yes! He said: I bear witness regarding Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard him narrate this addition: The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) will say: These are my followers. It will be said: You do not know what deeds they performed after you. I will say: Away with those people who changed my religion after me.
