English translation
It is narrated from Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Tomorrow I will give this flag to a person by whose hands Allah will grant victory over Khaybar. He loves Allah and His Messenger.” The people spent the night in anticipation, wondering to whom the flag would be given. In the morning, the people came to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), each one hoping that he would receive the flag. But the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Where is Ali bin Abi Talib?” Someone said, “O Messenger of Allah! He is ill.” So a messenger was sent to call him. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) applied his saliva to his eyes and prayed for him, and he was cured, as if he had never been ill. Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) gave him the flag. Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “O Messenger of Allah! Should I fight them until they become like us?” The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Wait. When you reach their area, invite them to Islam and inform them of Allah’s rights over them. By Allah! If a single person is guided through you, it is better for you than red camels.”
