And from the hadith of Jarir ibn Abdullah from the Prophet (peace be upon him)

وَمِنْ حَدِيثِ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، (١) عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (٢)، ١٩١٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَامَ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ تُوُفِّيَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ فَقَالَ: عَلَيْكُمْ بِاتِّقَاءِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَالْوَقَارِ وَالسَّكِينَةِ، حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكُمْ أَمِيرٌ، فَإِنَّمَا يَأْتِيكُمُ الْآنَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اسْتَعْفُوا (٣)، ، لِأَمِيرِكُمْ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ، وَقَالَ: أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنِّي أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - واَشْتَرَطَ عَلَيَّ -: " وَالنُّصْحِ (١) لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ " فَبَايَعْتُهُ عَلَى هَذَا، وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ (٢) إِنِّي لَكُمْ لَنَاصِحٌ جَمِيعًا. ثُمَّ اسْتَغْفَرَ وَنَزَلَ (٣)، ،

Ziyad bin Alaqah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that on the day Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up to deliver a sermon. I heard him saying: Fear Allah and hold fast to dignity and calmness until your next leader arrives, for your leader will surely come. Then he said: Intercede before your leader, for he likes to pardon. And after saying "Amma ba'd," he said: Once I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and said that I pledge allegiance to you on Islam. The Prophet (ﷺ) set the condition of goodwill for every Muslim before me. I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (ﷺ) on this condition. By the Lord of this mosque! I am a well-wisher for all of you. Then he descended while reciting istighfar (seeking forgiveness).

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، اشْتَرِطْ عَلَيَّ. فَقَالَ: " تَعْبُدُ اللهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُصَلِّي الصَّلَاةَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ، وَتُؤَدِّي الزَّكَاةَ الْمَفْرُوضَةَ، وَتَنْصَحُ لِلْمُسْلِمِ، وَتَبْرَأُ مِنَ الْكَافِرِ " (١)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the time of accepting Islam, I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! If there is any condition, please tell me." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Worship Allah and do not associate anyone with Him, perform the obligatory prayers, pay the obligatory zakat, wish well for every Muslim, and express disavowal from the disbeliever."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ، عَنْ طَارِقٍ التَّمِيمِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِنِسَاءٍ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِنَّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) passed by some women and greeted them with salam.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ، ، شُبَيْلٍ أَوْ شِبْلٍ، قَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ: الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُبَيْلٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَوْفٍ، فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ أَبَقَ فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ الذِّمَّةُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "If any slave runs away from his master, no one remains responsible for him; the responsibility ends."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً، كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُهَا، وَأَجْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ، ، يُنْتَقَصَ (١) مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ، وَمَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً، كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا، وَوِزْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ (١) مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, he will have the reward of that act and also the reward of those who act upon it after him, and nothing will be diminished from their rewards. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will bear its sin and also the sin of those who act upon it after him, and nothing will be diminished from their sins. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَوْنَ بْنَ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، سَمِعْتُ مُنْذِرَ (٣) بْنِ جَرِيرٍ الْبَجَلِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَدْرِ النَّهَارِ، فَذَكَرَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا فَأَذَّنَ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ يُصَلِّي (٤) وَقَالَ: كَأَنَّهُ مُذْهَبَةٌ (٥)، ،

Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Awn ibn Abi Juhfah, I heard al-Mundhir ibn Jarir al-Bajali, from his father, who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at the beginning of the day, and he mentioned it, except that he said: So he ordered Bilal and he gave the call to prayer, then he entered, then he came out to pray, and he said: It was as if it was a gold plate.

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ، فَدَخَلَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ، فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ يُعَلِّمُهُ الْإِسْلَامَ وَهُوَ فِي مَسِيرِهِ، فَدَخَلَ خُفُّ بَعِيرِهِ فِي جُحْرِ (١) يَرْبُوعٍ، فَوَقَصَهُ بَعِيرُهُ، فَمَاتَ، فَأَتَى عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: " عَمِلَ قَلِيلًا وَأُجِرَ كَثِيرًا " - قَالَهَا: حَمَّادٌ ثَلَاثًا - " اللَّحْدُ لَنَا، وَالشَّقُّ لِغَيْرِنَا " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came and entered the fold of Islam. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) was teaching him the commandments of Islam. Once, he was going on a journey when his camel's hoof entered the hole of a wild rat. His camel threw him down forcefully, his neck broke, and he passed away. His funeral was brought to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), so he said: "He did little deeds but received great reward." (Hammad mentioned this sentence three times.) The lahd (side niche grave) is for us, and the box-shaped grave is for others. The previous hadith is also narrated from this second chain.

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ الْبَجَلِيُّ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ (١)، ،

Narrated to us by ‘Affan, narrated to us by ‘Abd al-Wahid, narrated to us by Hajjaj ibn Arta’ah, narrated to us by ‘Uthman al-Bajali, from Zadhan, and he mentioned the hadith.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ نَظْرَةِ الْفُجْاَءَةِ، " (١) فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَصْرِفَ بَصَرِي " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) about accidentally glancing at a non-mahram woman, so the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) instructed me to turn my gaze away.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ: أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ. فَقَبَضَ يَدَهُ، وَقَالَ: " النُّصْحُ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّهُ مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَمْ يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the time of accepting Islam, I presented myself in the court of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I pledge allegiance to Islam." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) withdrew his hand and said, "Show goodwill to every Muslim." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى إِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَالنُّصْحِ لِلْمُسْلِمِ، وَعَلَى فِرَاقِ، ، الْمُشْرِكِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him.

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him.

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، وَهُوَ جَدُّهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ: " يَا جَرِيرُ، اسْتَنْصِتِ النَّاسَ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ: " لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet said to him during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "O Jarir! Make the people quiet," then during his sermon he said, "Do not become disbelievers after me, striking the necks of one another!"

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ، ، قَالَ: بَالَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: تَفْعَلُ هَذَا وَقَدْ بُلْتَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَالَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ " (١)، ، قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: فَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لِأَنَّ إِسْلَامَ جَرِيرٍ كَانَ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ، ،

Hammam says that once Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) urinated, performed ablution, and wiped over his socks. Someone said to him, "How are you wiping over your socks when you have just urinated?" He replied, "Yes! I saw the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) urinate, perform ablution, and wipe over his socks." Ibrahim says that the scholars of hadith give great importance to this hadith because Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam after the revelation of Surah Al-Ma'idah (in which is the verse of ablution).

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرًا يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

Abu Muawiyah narrated to us, Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Jarir ibn Abdullah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, and he mentioned the like of it.

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي ظَبْيَانَ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ (٢)،

Narrated to us by Muhammad ibn Ubayd, narrated to us by Al-A'mash, from Abu Dhubyan, from Jarir, likewise.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " مَا حَجَبَنِي عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَلَا رَآنِي إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that since I accepted Islam, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) never kept a veil from me, and whenever he saw me, he saw me with a smile.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَدْرِ النَّهَارِ، قَالَ: فَجَاءَهُ قَوْمٌ حُفَاةٌ عُرَاةٌ مُجْتَابِي النِّمَارِ - أَوِ الْعَبَاءِ - مُتَقَلِّدِي السُّيُوفِ، عَامَّتُهُمْ مِنْ مُضَرَ، بَلْ كُلُّهُمْ مِنْ مُضَرَ، فَتَغَيَّرَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِمَا رَأَى بِهِمْ مِنَ الْفَاقَةِ، قَالَ: فَدَخَلَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ، فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا، فَأَذَّنَ، وَأَقَامَ، فَصَلَّى، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ، فَقَالَ: " {يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اتَّقُوا رَبَّكُمُ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ نَفْسٍ وَاحِدَةٍ} [النساء: ١] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ {إِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ عَلَيْكُمْ رَقِيبًا} [النساء: ١] وَقَرَأَ الْآيَةَ الَّتِي فِي الْحَشْرِ {وَلْتَنْظُرْ نَفْسٌ مَا قَدَّمَتْ لِغَدٍ} [الحشر: ١٨] " تَصَدَّقَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ دِينَارِهِ، مِنْ دِرْهَمِهِ، مِنْ ثَوْبِهِ، مِنْ صَاعِ بُرِّهِ، مِنْ صَاعِ تَمْرِهِ " حَتَّى قَالَ: " وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ " قَالَ: فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِصُرَّةٍ كَادَتْ كَفُّهُ تَعْجِزُ (١) عَنْهَا، بَلْ قَدْ عَجَزَتْ، ثُمَّ تَتَابَعَ النَّاسُ، ، حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ كَوْمَيْنِ مِنْ طَعَامٍ وَثِيَابٍ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَهَلَّلُ وَجْهُهُ، يَعْنِي (١) كَأَنَّهُ مُذْهَبَةٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً، فَلَهُ أَجْرُهَا، وَأَجْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا بَعْدَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ، وَمَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً، كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا، وَوِزْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ (٢) بِهَا بَعْدَهُ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ " (٣)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, at the beginning of the day, we were with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) when some people came who were barefoot, naked, wrapped in leopard skins, and had swords hanging by their sides. Most of them belonged to the tribe of Mudar, in fact, all of them were from the tribe of Mudar. Seeing their poverty and destitution, the color of the blessed face of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) changed with grief. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) went inside his house, then came out and ordered Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), who gave the call to prayer and then the iqamah, and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) led the prayer. After the prayer, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) delivered a sermon and recited this verse: "O people! Fear your Lord, who created you from a single soul..." Then he recited this verse from Surah Hashr: "Let every soul look to what it has sent forth for tomorrow." Upon hearing this, someone gave a dinar in charity, someone a dirham, someone clothes, someone a sa’ of wheat, and someone a sa’ of dates, even someone gave a piece of a date. Then an Ansari came with a bag which he could hardly lift. Then people kept coming continuously until I saw two large heaps of food and clothes, and I saw that the face of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) began to shine, as if it were gold. He said: Whoever establishes a good practice in Islam, he will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him, without their reward being diminished in the least. And whoever establishes a bad practice in Islam, he will bear its sin and the sin of those who act upon it after him, without their sins being diminished in the least. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain.

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَوْنَ بْنَ أَبِي جَحَيْفَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُنْذِرَ بْنَ جَرِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ، (١) عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَدْرَ النَّهَارِ فَذَكَرَهُ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: وَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا، فَأَذَّنَ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ، فَصَلَّى وَقَالَ: كَأَنَّهُ مُذْهَبَةٌ (٢)،

Hashim ibn al-Qasim narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Awn ibn Abi Juhfah, he said: I heard Mundhir ibn Jarir narrating from his father, he said: We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, at the beginning of the day, and he mentioned it except that he said: and he ordered Bilal and he gave the call to prayer, then he entered, then he came out and prayed, and he said: as if it was a gold plate.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَنَابٍ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا بَرَزْنَا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِذَا رَاكِبٌ يُوضِعُ نَحْوَنَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " كَأَنَّ هَذَا الرَّاكِبَ إِيَّاكُمْ يُرِيدُ " قَالَ: فَانْتَهَى الرَّجُلُ إِلَيْنَا، فَسَلَّمَ، فَرَدَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مِنْ أَيْنَ أَقْبَلْتَ؟ " قَالَ: مِنْ أَهْلِي وَوَلَدِي وَعَشِيرَتِي، قَالَ: " فَأَيْنَ تُرِيدُ؟ " قَالَ: أُرِيدُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " فَقَدْ أَصَبْتَهُ " قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَلِّمْنِي مَا الْإِيمَانُ؟، ، قَالَ: " تَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ، وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ، وَتَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ، وَتَحُجُّ الْبَيْتَ "، قَالَ: قَدْ أَقْرَرْتُ. قَالَ: ثُمَّ إِنَّ بَعِيرَهُ دَخَلَتْ يَدُهُ فِي شَبَكَةِ جُرْذَانٍ، فَهَوَى بَعِيرُهُ وَهَوَى الرَّجُلُ، فَوَقَعَ عَلَى هَامَتِهِ، فَمَاتَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " عَلَيَّ بِالرَّجُلِ " قَالَ: فَوَثَبَ إِلَيْهِ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ وَحُذَيْفَةُ (١) فَأَقْعَدَاهُ فَقَالَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قُبِضَ الرَّجُلُ. قَالَ: فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَمَا رَأَيْتُمَا إِعْرَاضِي عَنِ الرَّجُلِ، (٢) فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ مَلَكَيْنِ يَدُسَّانِ فِي فِيهِ مِنْ ثِمَارِ الْجَنَّةِ، فَعَلِمْتُ أَنَّهُ مَاتَ جَائِعًا " ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " هَذَا وَاللهِ مِنَ الَّذِينَ قَالَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوا إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ أُولَئِكَ لَهُمُ الْأَمْنُ وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ} [الأنعام: ٨٢] قَالَ: ثُمَّ قَالَ: دُونَكُمْ أَخَاكُمْ قَالَ: فَاحْتَمَلْنَاهُ إِلَى الْمَاءِ، فَغَسَّلْنَاهُ وَحَنَّطْنَاهُ، وَكَفَّنَّاهُ وَحَمَلْنَاهُ إِلَى الْقَبْرِ، قَالَ: فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ عَلَى شَفِيرِ الْقَبْرِ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: " أَلْحِدُوا وَلَا تَشُقُّوا، فَإِنَّ اللَّحْدَ لَنَا، وَالشَّقَّ لِغَيْرِنَا " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we set out with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). When we left Madinah Munawwarah, we saw a rider coming towards us at a gallop. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It seems that this rider is coming to you," and so it happened that the man came close to us. He greeted us with salam, and we replied to him. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "Where are you coming from?" He said, "I have left my home, children, and family." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Where do you intend to go?" He said, "To reach the Noble Prophet (ﷺ)." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "You have reached him." He said, "O Messenger of Allah! Tell me, what is faith?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (ﷺ) is the Messenger of Allah, establish prayer, pay zakat, fast in Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House of Allah." He said, "I affirm all these things." After a short while, the hoof of his camel entered the hole of a wild rat, and his camel threw him down forcefully. His neck broke, and he died. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Lift this man and bring him to me." So Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) quickly rushed towards him and sat him up, then said, "O Messenger of Allah! He has passed away." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) turned away from them, and after a short while said, "When I turned away from you both, I was seeing two angels who were stuffing the fruits of Paradise into his mouth, from which it became clear that he died in a state of hunger." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "By Allah! He is among those about whom Allah Almighty has said, 'Those who believe and do not mix their faith with injustice, they are the ones who will have security, and they are rightly guided.'" Then he said, "Take care of your brother." So we lifted him and took him near water, gave him a bath, applied perfume, shrouded him, and carried him to the graveyard. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) came and sat at the edge of the grave and said, "Dig a side grave for him, not a box grave, because the side grave is for us and the box grave is for others." The previous hadith is also narrated from this second chain of transmission.

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْفَرَّاءُ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ، فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ نَسِيرُ إِذْ رَفَعَ لَنَا شَخْصٌ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: وَقَعَتْ يَدُ بَكْرِهِ فِي بَعْضِ تِلْكَ الَّتِي تَحْفِرُ الْجُرْذَانُ، وَقَالَ فِيهِ: " هَذَا مِمَّنْ عَمِلَ قَلِيلًا وَأُجِرَ كَثِيرًا " (١)، ،

Narrated to us Aswad ibn ‘Amir, narrated to us ‘Abd al-Hamid ibn Abi Ja‘far al-Farra’, from Thabit, from Zadhan, from Jarir ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Bajali, who said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, from al-Madina, and while we were traveling, a figure appeared to us, and he mentioned something similar, except that he said: The hand of his young camel fell into one of those holes dug by the rats, and he said in it: "This is among those who did little but was rewarded much."

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا بَيَانُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " مَا حَجَبَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَلَا رَآنِي إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that since I accepted Islam, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) never kept a veil from me, and whenever he saw me, he saw me with a smile.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: " مَا حَجَبَنِي (١) رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَلَا رَآنِي إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ فِي وَجْهِي (٢) " (٣)،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ قَالَ: وَقَالَ جَرِيرٌ: لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي، ثُمَّ حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي، ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي، ثُمَّ دَخَلْتُ، فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ، فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ، فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي: يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ، ذَكَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، ذَكَرَكَ آنِفًا بِأَحْسَنِ ذِكْرٍ، فَبَيْنَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ وَقَالَ: " يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْبَابِ، أَوْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ، مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ، إِلَّا أَنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةَ مَلَكٍ " قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: " فَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى مَا أَبْلَانِي " (٤) ، وقَالَ أَبُو قَطَنٍ: فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْهُ أَوْ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ "،، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when I reached near Madinah Munawwarah, I made my mount sit down, took off my lower garment, put on a cloak, and presented myself before the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was giving (something) at that time. People began to look at me with the circles of their eyes. I asked the man sitting next to me, "O servant of Allah! Has the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned me?" He replied, "Yes! Just now the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned you in an excellent manner and, while delivering the sermon, said in the middle: 'Now, from this door or skylight, a best man from Yemen will come to you, and on his face will be the effect of an angel's hand having touched it.'" Upon this, I thanked Allah for this blessing. It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when I reached near Madinah Munawwarah, I made my mount sit down, took off my lower garment, put on a cloak, and presented myself before the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was giving (something) at that time. People began to look at me with the circles of their eyes. I asked the man sitting next to me, "O servant of Allah! Has the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned me?"... Then the narrator mentioned the entire hadith.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُبَيْلِ (١) بْنِ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي، ثُمَّ حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي، ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي، قَالَ: فَدَخَلْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ، فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَرَمَانِي الْقَوْمُ بِالْحَدَقِ، فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي: هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ (٢)،

Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, Yunus narrated to us, from al-Mughira ibn Shubayl ibn 'Awf, from Jarir ibn 'Abd Allah, who said: When I approached al-Madina, I made my mount kneel, then I unpacked my bag, then I put on my garment. He said: I entered while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was delivering a sermon, so I greeted the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the people stared at me with their eyes. So I said to my companion: Did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mention anything about me? He mentioned the same.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، " أَنَّهُ حِينَ بَايَعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَخَذَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يُشْرِكَ بِاللهِ، ، شَيْئًا، وَيُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَيُؤْتِيَ الزَّكَاةَ، وَيَنْصَحَ الْمُسْلِمَ، وَيُفَارِقَ الْمُشْرِكَ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the time of accepting Islam, he took the pledge from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) on the condition that he would not associate anyone with Allah, would perform the obligatory prayers, pay the obligatory zakat, wish well for every Muslim, and express disavowal from the disbeliever.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ (٢) هِلَالٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِصُرَّةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ تَمْلَأُ مَا بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ، فَقَالَ: هَذِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، ثُمَّ قَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَأَعْطَوْا فَأَعْطَى، ثُمَّ قَامَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَأَعْطَى، ثُمَّ قَامَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ فَأَعْطَوْا. قَالَ: فَأَشْرَقَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الْإِشْرَاقَ فِي وَجْنَتَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " مَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً صَالِحَةً فِي الْإِسْلَامِ فَعُمِلَ بِهَا بَعْدَهُ، كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أُجُورِهِمْ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ (٣) مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ، وَمَنْ سَنَّ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً فَعُمِلَ بِهَا بَعْدَهُ، كَانَ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلُ أَوْزَارِهِمْ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ، ، شَيْءٌ (١) " (٢)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once an Ansari man came to the Prophet’s court with a pouch of gold that filled his fingers and said, “This is in the way of Allah.” Then Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and presented something, then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Muhajireen also presented something. I saw that the face of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) began to shine, and it seemed as if it was made of gold. He said, “Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, he will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him, without their rewards being diminished in the least. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will bear its sin and the sin of those who act upon it after him, without their sins being diminished in the least.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ التَّيْمِيُّ، عَنْ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ مُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَا يُؤْوِي الضَّالَّةَ إِلَّا ضَالٌّ " (٣)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: "Only one who is himself lost brings a lost thing to his home."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ إِلَى ذِي الْخَلَصَةِ، فَكَسَرَهَا وَحَرَّقَهَا بِالنَّارِ، ثُمَّ بَعَثَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَحْمَسَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: بُشَيْرٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَشِّرُهُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) sent him towards an idol named "Dhi al-Khalasah." He broke it and burned it in fire, then sent a man named Bashir from the tribe of Ahmas to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) to give him this glad tidings.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ وَهُوَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ أَخَاكُمُ النَّجَاشِيَّ قَدْ مَاتَ، فَاسْتَغْفِرُوا لَهُ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Your brother Najashi has passed away, so you people pray for his forgiveness."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لِيَصْدُرِ الْمُصَدِّقُ وَهُوَ عَنْكُمْ رَاضٍ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: When the one who collects zakat leaves from you, he should leave pleased with you.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ:، ، قَالَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا تُرِيحُنِي مِنْ ذِي الْخَلَصَةِ " وَكَانَ بَيْتًا فِي خَثْعَمَ يُسَمَّى كَعْبَةَ الْيَمَانِيَةِ، فَنَفَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فِي سَبْعِينَ وَمِائَةِ فَارِسٍ مِنْ أَحْمَسَ، قَالَ: فَأَتَاهَا فَحَرَّقَهَا بِالنَّارِ، وَبَعَثَ جَرِيرٌ بَشِيرًا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا أَتَيْتُكَ حَتَّى تَرَكْتُهَا كَأَنَّهَا جَمَلٌ أَجْرَبُ. فَبَرَّكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى خَيْلِ أَحْمَسَ وَرِجَالِهَا خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) sent him towards an idol named "Dhi al-Khalasah." He broke it and burned it in fire. Then he sent a man named Basheer from the tribe of Ahmas to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) to give him this glad tidings. He said, "By Him who sent you with the truth, I left it in such a state as if it were a mangy camel." Upon this, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) invoked blessings five times for Ahmas and its horsemen.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ:، ، قَالَ لِي جَرِيرٌ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَيْسَ بْنَ أَبِي حَازِمٍ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّكُمْ سَتَرَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ الْقَمَرَ، لَا تُضَامُونَ فِي رُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى هَاتَيْنِ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ "، ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ} [ق: ٣٩] (٢) قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: لَا أَدْرِي، قَالَ: " فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ " أَوْ لَمْ يَقُلْ، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, on the night of the full moon, we were with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Soon you will see your Lord just as you see this moon. You will have no difficulty in seeing your Lord. Therefore, if you have the strength not to be overpowered regarding the prayers before sunrise and before sunset, then do so (i.e., be diligent in these prayers)." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) recited this verse: "Glorify your Lord with His praise before the rising of the sun and before its setting."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَيْسًا يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى إِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) on the condition of establishing prayer, giving zakat, and wishing well for every Muslim.

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يَعْمَلُونَ بِالْمَعَاصِي وَفِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ أَعَزُّ مِنْهُمْ وَأَمْنَعُ لَا يُغَيِّرُونَ إِلَّا عَمَّهُمُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِعِقَابٍ " أَوْ قَالَ: " أَصَابَهُمُ الْعِقَابُ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whenever a people commit a sin and among them is an honorable and respected man who does not stop them, then Allah's punishment descends upon all of them."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرًا يَقُولُ، حِينَ مَاتَ الْمُغِيرَةُ وَاسْتَعْمَلَ قَرَابَتَهُ يَخْطُبُ، فَقَامَ جَرِيرٌ، فَقَالَ: أُوصِيكُمْ بِتَقْوَى اللهِ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَنْ تَسْمَعُوا وَتُطِيعُوا حَتَّى يَأْتِيَكُمْ أَمِيرٌ، اسْتَغْفِرُوا لِلْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ غَفَرَ اللهُ تَعَالَى لَهُ، فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُحِبُّ الْعَافِيَةَ، أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنِّي أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُبَايِعُهُ بِيَدِي هَذِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيَّ " وَالنُّصْحَ " (١) ، فَوَرَبِّ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ لَنَاصِحٌ (٢)،

Ziyad bin Alaqah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that on the day Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up to deliver a sermon. I heard him say: Fear Allah and remain dignified and calm until your next leader arrives, for your leader will surely come. Then he said: Intercede before your leader, for he likes to pardon. And after saying "Amma ba'd," he said: Once I presented myself before the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and said that I pledge allegiance to you on Islam. The Prophet (ﷺ) made it a condition for me to wish well for every Muslim. I pledged allegiance to the Prophet (ﷺ) on this condition. By the Lord of this mosque! I am a well-wisher for all of you.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ: كَانَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي بَعْثٍ بِأَرْمِينِيَّةَ قَالَ: فَأَصَابَتْهُمْ، ، مَخْمَصَةٌ أَوْ مَجَاعَةٌ قَالَ: فَكَتَبَ جَرِيرٌ إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ". قَالَ: فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِ، فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ: آنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: فَأَقْفَلَهُمْ وَمَتَّعَهُمْ (١)، ، قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ: " وَكَانَ أَبِي فِي ذَلِكَ الْجَيْشِ فَجَاءَ بِقَطِيفَةٍ مِمَّا مَتَّعَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ "،

Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) was included in the army of Armenia. The army was afflicted by famine, so Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) stating that I heard the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) say: "Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah does not show mercy to him." Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) summoned him. When he came, he asked, "Did you really hear this hadith from the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)?" He replied, "Yes!" Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Then include them in the battle and benefit them." Abu Ishaq says that his father was also in that army and he brought a sheet which Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) had given him.

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ فَقَالَ: فَلَقَّنَنِي فَقَالَ: " فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتَ " وَالنُّصْحَ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) on the condition of listening and obeying, but the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) instructed me to add the phrase "as much as I am able" and also set the condition of goodwill towards every Muslim.

حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عُمَرٍو،، ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْتِلُ عُرْفَ فَرَسٍ بِأُصْبُعَيْهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: " الْخَيْلُ مَعْقُودٌ بِنَوَاصِيهَا الْخَيْرُ، الْأَجْرُ وَالْمَغْنَمُ، إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) braiding the mane of a horse with his fingers, and he (ﷺ) was saying that goodness, reward, and spoils are tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection.

حَدَّثَنَا (٢) هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ نَظْرَةِ الْفَجْأَةِ، (٣) فَأَمَرَنِي (٤) فَقَالَ: " اصْرِفْ بَصَرَكَ " (٥)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I asked the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) about accidentally glancing at a non-mahram woman, so the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) instructed me to turn my gaze away.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لِيَصْدُرِ الْمُصَدِّقُ مِنْ عِنْدِكُمْ وَهُوَ رَاضٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: When the one who collects zakat leaves from you, he should leave pleased with you.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرًا يَقُولُ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى النُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ (٢) " قَالَ: مِسْعَرٌ، عَنْ زِيَادٍ: " فَإِنِّي لَكُمْ لَنَاصِحٌ "، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) on the condition of wishing well for every Muslim.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ ابْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، أَنَّ قَوْمًا أَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ مُجْتَابِي النِّمَارِ، فَحَثَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسَ عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَبْطَئُوا حَتَّى رُئِيَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِقِطْعَةِ تِبْرٍ فَطَرَحَهَا، فَتَتَابَعَ النَّاسُ حَتَّى عُرِفَ ذَلِكَ فِي وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ: " مَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً، فَعُمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُهَا وَمِثْلُ أَجْرِ (١) مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ (٢) مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ، وَمَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً، عُمِلَ (٣) بِهَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا وَوِزْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا وَلَا (٤) يُنْقِصُ ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْئًا (٥) " (٦)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people came who were barefoot, naked, wrapped in leopard skins, and had swords hanging by their sides. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged the people to give charity, but the people delayed, upon which the color of the blessed face of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) changed. Then an Ansari man came with a piece of silver and put it down. After that, people began to come continuously. The face of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) began to shine, and it seemed as if it was made of gold. He said: Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, he will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him, without their rewards being diminished in the least. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will bear its sin and the sin of those who act upon it after him, without their sins being diminished in the least.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْ مِطْهَرَةٍ، وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَقَالُوا: أَتَمْسَحُ عَلَى خُفَّيْكَ؟ فَقَالَ: " إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: " يَمْسَحُ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ " (١) فَكَانَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ يُعْجِبُ أَصْحَابَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُونَ: " إِنَّمَا كَانَ إِسْلَامُهُ بَعْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَائِدَةِ "،

Hammam says that once Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) urinated, performed ablution, and wiped over his socks. Someone said to him, "How are you wiping over your socks when you have just urinated?" He replied, "Yes! I saw the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) urinate, perform ablution, and wipe over his socks." Ibrahim says that the scholars of hadith give great importance to this hadith because Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam after the revelation of Surah Al-Ma'idah (in which is the verse of ablution).

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَثَّنَا عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ، فَأَبْطَأَ النَّاسُ حَتَّى رُئِيَ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْغَضَبُ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: حَتَّى بَانَ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ جَاءَ بِصُرَّةٍ فَأَعْطَاهَا، ، إِيَّاهُ، ثُمَّ تَتَابَعَ النَّاسُ، فَأَعْطَوْا حَتَّى رُئِيَ فِي وَجْهِهِ السُّرُورُ، فَقَالَ: " مَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً حَسَنَةً، كَانَ لَهُ أَجْرُهَا (١) وَمِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ، وَمَنْ سَنَّ سُنَّةً سَيِّئَةً، كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا وَمِثْلُ وِزْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُنْتَقَصَ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ " قَالَ مَرَّةً: يَعْنِي أَبَا مُعَاوِيَةَ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَنْقُصَ (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people came who were barefoot, naked, wrapped in leopard skins, and had swords hanging by their sides. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged the people to give charity, but the people delayed, upon which the color of the blessed face of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) changed. Then an Ansari man came with a piece of silver and put it down. After that, people began to come continuously. The face of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) began to shine, and it seemed as if it was made of gold. He said: Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, he will have its reward and the reward of those who act upon it after him, without their rewards being diminished in the least. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will bear its sin and the sin of those who act upon it after him, without their sins being diminished in the least.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ وَهُوَ الضَّرِيرُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسٌ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا تُرِيحُنِي مِنْ ذِي الْخَلَصَةِ؟ " وَكَانَ بَيْتًا فِي خَثْعَمَ يُسَمَّى كَعْبَةَ الْيَمَانِيَةِ. قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقْتُ فِي خَمْسِينَ وَمِائَةِ فَارِسٍ مِنْ أَحْمَسَ، وَكَانُوا أَصْحَابَ خَيْلٍ، فَأَخْبَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِّي لَا أَثْبُتُ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ، فَضَرَبَ فِي صَدْرِي حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ أَثَرَ أَصَابِعِهِ فِي صَدْرِي،، ، وَقَالَ: " اللهُمَّ ثَبِّتْهُ، وَاجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا ". فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَيْهَا، فَكَسَّرَهَا وَحَرَّقَهَا، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَشِّرُهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ جَرِيرٍ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ، مَا جِئْتُكَ حَتَّى تَرَكْتُهَا كَأَنَّهَا جَمَلٌ أَجْرَبُ. فَبَارَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى خَيْلِ أَحْمَسَ وَرِجَالِهَا خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, "Why do you not relieve me from Dhi al-Khalasah?" This was a church in the tribe of Khath'am which was called the Yemeni Ka'bah. So I set out with one hundred and fifty men from Ahmas, all of whom were horsemen. I said to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) that I cannot sit firmly on the back of a horse. So the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) struck his blessed hand on my chest until I saw the marks of his fingers on my chest, and he prayed, "O Allah! Grant him firmness and composure, and make him one who guides and is guided." Then I set out, and upon reaching there, I set it on fire. Then I sent a man to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) to give him the good news, and he said, "By the One Who sent you with the truth, I left it in such a state as if it were a mangy camel." Upon this, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) prayed for blessings for Ahmas and its horsemen five times.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسٌ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ، ، نَظَرَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ، فَقَالَ: " أَمَا إِنَّكُمْ سَتَرَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ هَذَا، لَا تُضَامُونَ، أَوْ لَا تُضَارُّونَ "، شَكَّ إِسْمَاعِيلُ، " فِي رُؤْيَتِهِ، فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا، فَافْعَلُوا "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا} [طه: ١٣٠] (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, on the night of the full moon, we were with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Soon you will see your Lord just as you see this moon. You will have no difficulty in seeing your Lord. Therefore, if you have the strength not to be overpowered regarding the prayers before sunrise and before sunset, then do so (i.e., be diligent in these prayers)." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) recited this verse: "Glorify your Lord with His praise before the rising of the sun and before its setting."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيُّ قَالَ: قَالَ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَسُنُّ عَبْدٌ سُنَّةً صَالِحَةً، يَعْمَلُ بِهَا مَنْ بَعْدَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يُنْقَصُ (٢) مِنْ أُجُورِهِمْ شَيْءٌ، وَلَا يَسُنُّ عَبْدٌ سُنَّةَ سُوءٍ، يَعْمَلُ بِهَا، ، مَنْ (١) بَعْدَهُ إِلَّا كَانَ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرُهَا وَوِزْرُ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِهَا لَا يُنْقَصُ مِنْ أَوْزَارِهِمْ شَيْءٌ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever introduces a good practice in Islam, he will have the reward of that act and also the reward of those who act upon it after him, and nothing will be diminished from their rewards. And whoever introduces a bad practice in Islam, he will bear its sin and also the sin of those who act upon it after him, and nothing will be diminished from their sins. The narrator says that once some villagers came to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The people who come to us from your side to collect zakat oppress us." The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Send him back pleased." They said, "Even if he oppresses us?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) again said, "Send him back pleased." Since I heard this hadith, I have always sent back the one who comes to me to collect zakat in a pleased manner.

قَالَ: وَأَتَاهُ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ فَقَالُوا: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، يَأْتِينَا نَاسٌ مِنْ مُصَدِّقِيكَ يَظْلِمُونَا، قَالَ: " أَرْضُوا مُصَدِّقَكُمْ قَالُوا: وَإِنْ ظَلَمَ " قَالَ: أَرْضُوا مُصَدِّقَكُمْ " قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: " فَمَا صَدَرَ عَنِّي مُصَدِّقٌ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ نَبِيِّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا وَهُوَ عَنِّي رَاضٍ " (٣)، ،

He said: Some people from the Bedouins came to him and said, "O Prophet of Allah, some of your tax collectors come to us and wrong us." He said: "Be content with your tax collectors." They said, "Even if he wrongs?" He said, "Be content with your tax collectors." Jarir said: "No tax collector has ever departed from me since I heard this from the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, except that he was pleased with me."

قَالَ: وَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ يُحْرَمِ الرِّفْقَ يُحْرَمِ الْخَيْرَ " (١)، ،

And the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) also said that whoever is deprived of gentleness is deprived of all goodness.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّانَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الضَّحَّاكُ خَالُ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ مُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي جَرِيرٍ بِالْبَوَازِيجِ فِي السَّوَادِ، فَرَاحَتِ (١) الْبَقَرَ، فَرَأَى بَقَرَةً أَنْكَرَهَا فَقَالَ: مَا هَذِهِ الْبَقَرَةُ؟ قَالَ: بَقَرَةٌ لَحِقَتْ بِالْبَقَرِ، فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَطُرِدَتْ حَتَّى تَوَارَتْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَا يُؤْوِي الضَّالَّةَ إِلَّا ضَالٌّ " (٢)،

Munzir bin Jarir, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I was with my father, Jarir, may Allah be pleased with him, at a place called Bawazij, among a herd. There, cows were coming and going ahead and behind. He saw a cow and it seemed unfamiliar to him. He asked, "What kind of cow is this?" The herdsman replied that it belongs to someone else and has joined our animals. On his order, it was removed from there until it disappeared from sight. Then he said, "I heard the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say that only a misguided person gives shelter to a lost thing."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " مَا حَجَبَنِي عَنْهُ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَلَا رَآنِي إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ فِي وَجْهِي " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that since I accepted Islam, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) never kept a veil from me, and whenever he saw me, he saw me with a smile.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ، (١) عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَبَقَ الْعَبْدُ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ الذِّمَّةُ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "If any slave runs away from his master, no one remains responsible for him; the responsibility ends."

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنٌ لِجَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: " كَانَتْ (٣) نَعْلُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ طُولُهَا ذِرَاعٌ " (٤)،

It is narrated from a son of Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the shoe of Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) was equal to the length of a hand.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي الْيَقْظَانِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، ، الْبَجَلِيِّ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اللَّحْدُ لَنَا، وَالشَّقُّ لِأَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: The lahd (side niche grave) is for us, and the box-shaped grave is for the People of the Book.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، (٢) عَنْ طَارِقٍ التَّمِيمِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ: قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي رَجُلٌ، عَنْ طَارِقٍ التَّمِيمِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " مَرَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى نِسْوَةٍ فَسَلَّمَ، ، عَلَيْهِنَّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) passed by some women and greeted them with salam.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شَرِيكٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " الْمُهَاجِرُونَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ، وَالطُّلَقَاءُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ، وَالْعُتَقَاءُ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ " قَالَ شَرِيكٌ، فَحَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: The Muhajirun and the Ansar are guardians of one another. The freed ones are from among the Quraysh, and the emancipated ones are from among the Thaqif, and all of them will remain guardians of one another until the Day of Resurrection. The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يَكُونُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ مَنْ يَعْمَلُ بِالْمَعَاصِي هُمْ (١) أَعَزُّ مِنْهُ وَأَمْنَعُ لَمْ يُغَيِّرُوا عَلَيْهِ، إِلَّا أَصَابَهُمُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْهُ بِعِقَابٍ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whenever a people commit sins and among them is an honorable and respected person who does not stop them, then Allah's punishment descends upon all of them.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا زُرْعَةَ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ يُحَدِّثُ،، ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ لِجَرِيرٍ: " اسْتَنْصِتِ النَّاسَ "، وَقَالَ: قَالَ: " لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said to him during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "O Jarir! Make the people quiet," then during his sermon he said, "Do not become disbelievers after me, striking the necks of one another."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " الطُّلَقَاءُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ، وَالْعُتَقَاءُ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، وَالْمُهَاجِرُونَ وَالْأَنْصَارُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: The Muhajirun and the Ansar are guardians of one another; the freed ones are from among the Quraysh, and the emancipated ones are from among the Thaqif, and all are guardians of one another until the Day of Resurrection.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مُؤَمَّلٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: اشْتَرِطْ عَلَيَّ. قَالَ: " تَعْبُدُ اللهَ لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُصَلِّي الصَّلَاةَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ، وَتُؤَدِّي الزَّكَاةَ الْمَفْرُوضَةَ، وَتَنْصَحُ لِلْمُسْلِمِ، وَتَبْرَأُ مِنَ الْكَافِرِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the time of accepting Islam, I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! If there is any condition, please tell me." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Worship Allah and do not associate anyone with Him, perform the obligatory prayers, pay the obligatory zakat, wish well for every Muslim, and express disavowal from the disbeliever."

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصَوْمِ رَمَضَانَ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Islam is founded on five things: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah, establishing prayer, paying zakat, performing Hajj of the House of Allah, and fasting in Ramadan.

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُلَاثَةَ (١) ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْجَزْرِيِّ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ: أَنَا أَسْلَمْتُ بَعْدَ مَا أُنْزِلَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ، " وَأَنَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ بَعْدَمَا أَسْلَمْتُ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I accepted Islam after the revelation of Surah Ma'idah, and after accepting Islam, I saw the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) wiping over his socks.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ أَخَاكُمُ النَّجَاشِيَّ قَدْ مَاتَ، فَاسْتَغْفِرُوا لَهُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Your brother Najashi has passed away, so you people pray for his forgiveness."

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، " أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَدْخُلُ الْمَخْرَجَ فِي خُفَّيْهِ، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَيَتَوَضَّأُ وَيَمْسَحُ عَلَيْهِمَا " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) would enter the toilet wearing leather socks, then after coming out, he would perform ablution and wipe over them.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ ابْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ، فَلَقِيتُ بِهَا رَجُلَيْنِ: ذَا كَلَاعٍ وَذَا عَمْرٍو قَالَ: وَأَخْبَرْتُهُمَا شَيْئًا مِنْ خَبَرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ". قَالَ: ثُمَّ أَقْبَلْنَا، فَإِذَا قَدْ رُفِعَ لَنَا رَكْبٌ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْمَدِينَةِ، قَالَ: فَسَأَلْنَاهُمْ مَا الْخَبَرُ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالُوا: قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَاسْتُخْلِفَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، وَالنَّاسُ صَالِحُونَ. قَالَ: فَقَالَ لِي: أَخْبِرْ صَاحِبَكَ. قَالَ: فَرَجَعَا، (١) ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ ذَا عَمْرٍو فَقَالَ لِي: يَا جَرِيرُ، إِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تَزَالُوا بِخَيْرٍ مَا إِذَا هَلَكَ أَمِيرٌ ثُمَّ تَأَمَّرْتُمْ فِي آخَرَ، فَإِذَا كَانَتْ بِالسَّيْفِ غَضِبْتُمْ غَضَبَ الْمُلُوكِ، وَرَضِيتُمْ رِضَا الْمُلُوكِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) sent me to Yemen. There I met two men, Dhu’l-Kala‘ and Dhu‘Amr. I conveyed to them some matters from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). Then we set out to return from Yemen, and on the way, we encountered a group of riders coming from Madinah Munawwarah. We asked them about the situation in Madinah Munawwarah. They informed us that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) had passed away, Siddiq Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) had been appointed as the Caliph, and the people were well. They asked me to tell them about my companion. Then, on the return journey, I met Dhu‘Amr. He said to me, “O Jarir! You people will remain on goodness as long as, after the death of one leader, you appoint another, but when the matter reaches the sword, you will become angry like kings and pleased like kings.”

حَدَّثَنَا مَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيَّ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا أَبَقَ الْعَبْدُ، فَلَحِقَ بِالْعَدُوِّ، فَمَاتَ، فَهُوَ كَافِرٌ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: When someone flees and joins the enemy and dies there, then he is a disbeliever.

حَدَّثَنَا مَكِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيُّ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ: شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ، وَصِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ " (١)،

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُبَيْلٍ قَالَ: قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي، ثُمَّ، ، حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي، ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي، ثُمَّ دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ، فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي: يَا عَبْدَ اللهِ، هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، ذَكَرَكَ بِأَحْسَنِ الذِّكْرِ، بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةُ مَلَكٍ " قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: " فَحَمِدْتُ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when I reached near Madinah Munawwarah, I made my mount sit down, took off my lower garment, put on a cloak, and presented myself in the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was giving at that time. People began to look at me from the corners of their eyes. I asked the man sitting next to me, "O servant of Allah! Has the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned me?" He replied, "Yes! Just now the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned you in an excellent manner and, while delivering the sermon, said in the middle: 'Just now, from this door or window, a best man from Yemen will come to you, and on his face will be the effect of an angel's hand having touched it.'" Upon this, I thanked Allah for this blessing.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى إِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَالسَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ، وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) on the conditions of establishing prayer, paying zakat, listening and obeying, and wishing well for every Muslim.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ، وَعَلَى أَنْ أَنْصَحَ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ " قَالَ: وَكَانَ جَرِيرٌ إِذَا اشْتَرَى الشَّيْءَ وَكَانَ أَعْجَبَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ ثَمَنِهِ قَالَ لِصَاحِبِهِ: " تَعْلَمَنَّ وَاللهِ لَمَا أَخَذْنَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْنَا مِمَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ "، كَأَنَّهُ يُرِيدُ بِذَلِكَ الْوَفَاءَ (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) on the conditions of establishing prayer, paying zakat, listening and obeying, and wishing well for every Muslim. The narrator says that whenever Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) bought something that he liked, he would say to the seller, "Remember! The thing we have taken is more beloved to us than what we have given you (the price)," and by this he meant the full payment of the price.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يُعْمَلُ فِيهِمْ، ، بِالْمَعَاصِي، هُمْ أَعَزُّ وَأَكْثَرُ مِمَّنْ يَعْمَلُهُ، لَمْ يُغَيِّرُوهُ إِلَّا عَمَّهُمُ اللهُ بِعِقَابٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whenever a people commit a sin and among them is an honorable and respected man who does not stop them, then Allah's punishment descends upon all of them."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا جَاءَكُمُ الْمُصَدِّقُ، فَلَا يُفَارِقُكُمْ إِلَّا عَنْ رِضًا " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: When the one who collects zakat leaves from you, he should leave pleased with you.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ عِلَاقَةَ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي حَبْرٌ بِالْيَمَنِ: إِنْ كَانَ صَاحِبُكُمْ نَبِيًّا فَقَدْ مَاتَ الْيَوْمَ. قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: " فَمَاتَ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a prominent Christian priest from Yemen said to me, "If your companion is truly a Prophet, he will pass away today." Accordingly, the Noble Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) departed from this world on that very day, which was a Monday.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، اشْتَرِطْ عَلَيَّ فَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِالشَّرْطِ، قَالَ: " أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى أَنْ تَعْبُدَ اللهَ لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَتُؤْتِيَ الزَّكَاةَ، وَتَنْصَحَ الْمُسْلِمَ، وَتَبْرَأَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِ " (٢)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، بَالَ وَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: فَقَالَ: " قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ " قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ: كَانَ أَعْجَبَ ذَاكَ إِلَيْهِمْ لِأَنَّ (١) إِسْلَامَ جَرِيرٍ كَانَ بَعْدَ الْمَائِدَةِ (٢)،

Hammam says that once Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) urinated, performed ablution, and wiped over his socks. Someone said to him, "How are you wiping over your socks when you have just urinated?" He replied, "Yes! I saw the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) urinate, perform ablution, and wipe over his socks." Ibrahim says that the scholars of hadith give great importance to this hadith because Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam after the revelation of Surah Al-Ma'idah (in which is the verse of ablution).

Ibrahim says that the hadith scholars attach great importance to this hadith because Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam after the revelation of the verse of wudu in Surah Al-Ma'idah.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ جَرِيرًا، بَالَ قَائِمًا، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، وَصَلَّى، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَذَكَرَ " عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ فَعَلَ مِثْلَ (١) ذَلِكَ (٢) "،

Hammam says that once Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) urinated, performed ablution, and wiped over his leather socks. Someone said to him, "How are you wiping over your socks when you have just urinated?" He replied, "Yes! I saw the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) urinate, perform ablution, and wipe over his leather socks."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نُخَيْلَةَ، (٣) عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُبَايِعُهُ، فَقُلْتُ: هَاتِ يَدَكَ وَاشْتَرِطْ عَلَيَّ وَأَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِالشَّرْطِ، فَقَالَ: " أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى أَنْ لَا تُشْرِكَ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا، وَتُقِيمَ الصَّلَاةَ، وَتُؤْتِيَ، ، الزَّكَاةَ، وَتَنْصَحَ الْمُسْلِمَ، (١) وَتُفَارِقَ الْمُشْرِكَ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: When someone flees and joins the enemy, his blood becomes lawful.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ هُوَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ قَالَ: " إِذَا أَبَقَ الْعَبْدُ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْعَدُوِّ فَقَدْ حَلَّ دَمُهُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: When someone flees and joins the enemy, his blood becomes lawful.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَا يَرْحَمْهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ: وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ،، ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ أَبَقَ فَقَدْ بَرِئَتْ مِنْهُ الذِّمَّةُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "If any slave runs away from his master, no one remains responsible for him; the responsibility ends."

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ أَبَقَ مِنْ مَوَالِيهِ فَقَدْ كَفَرَ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Any slave who runs away from his master commits disbelief."

حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ قَرْمٍ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرًا يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمْ لَا يُرْحَمْ، وَمَنْ لَا يَغْفِرْ لَا يُغْفَرْ لَهُ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saying: Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah does not show mercy to him, and whoever does not forgive people, Allah does not forgive him.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى هُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى إِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I pledged allegiance to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) on the conditions of establishing prayer, paying zakat, wishing well for every Muslim, and expressing disavowal from the disbelievers.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، وَعَبْدَةُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِدٌ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِذَا أَتَاكُمُ الْمُصَدِّقُ، فَلَا يُفَارِقُكُمْ إِلَّا وَهُوَ رَاضٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: When the one who collects zakat leaves from you, he should leave pleased with you.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ: " أَلَا تُرِيحُنِي مِنْ ذِي الْخَلَصَةِ " بَيْتٍ لِخَثْعَمَ كَانَ يُعْبَدُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يُسَمَّى كَعْبَةَ الْيَمَانِيَةِ، قَالَ: فَخَرَجْنَا إِلَيْهِ فِي خَمْسِينَ وَمِائَةِ رَاكِبٍ قَالَ: فَخَرَّبْنَاهُ، أَوْ حَرَّقْنَاهُ، حَتَّى تَرَكْنَاهُ كَالْجَمَلِ الْأَجْرَبِ. قَالَ: ثُمَّ بَعَثَ جَرِيرٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُبَشِّرُهُ بِذَلِكَ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُ قَالَ: وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا جِئْتُكَ حَتَّى تَرَكْنَاهُ كَالْجَمَلِ الْأَجْرَبِ. قَالَ: فَبَرَّكَ عَلَى أَحْمَسَ وَعَلَى خَيْلِهَا وَرِجَالِهَا خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ. قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي رَجُلٌ لَا أَثْبُتُ عَلَى الْخَيْلِ. فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى وَجْهِي حَتَّى وَجَدْتُ بَرْدَهَا، وَقَالَ: " اللهُمَّ اجْعَلْهُ هَادِيًا مَهْدِيًّا " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said to me, "Why do you not relieve me from Dhi al-Khalasah?" This was a church in the tribe of Khath'am which was called the Yemeni Ka'bah. So I set out with one hundred and fifty men from Ahmas, all of whom were horsemen. I said to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) that I cannot sit firmly on the back of a horse. So the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) struck his blessed hand on my chest until I saw the marks of his fingers on my chest, and he prayed, "O Allah! Grant him firmness and composure, and make him one who guides and is guided." Then I set out, and upon reaching there, I set it on fire. Then I sent a man to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) to give him the good news, and he said, "By Him who sent you with the truth, I left it in such a state as if it were a mangy camel." Upon this, the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) prayed for blessings for Ahmas and its horsemen five times.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى قَالَ: قَالَ إِسْمَاعِيلُ: قَالَ قَيْسٌ: قَالَ جَرِيرٌ: " مَا حَجَبَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُنْذُ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَلَا رَآنِي قَطُّ إِلَّا تَبَسَّمَ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that since I accepted Islam, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) never kept himself veiled from me, and whenever he saw me, he saw me with a smile.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَالَ: (١) " أَمَا (٢) إِنَّكُمْ سَتُعْرَضُونَ عَلَى رَبِّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، فَتَرَوْنَهُ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ هَذَا الْقَمَرَ لَا تُضَامُونَ فِيهِ (٣) ، فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى صَلَاةٍ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَا، فَافْعَلُوا " ثُمَّ قَرَأَ {وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ} (٤) [ق: ٣٩]، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, on the night of the full moon, we were with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Soon you will see your Lord just as you see this moon. You will have no difficulty in seeing your Lord. Therefore, if you have the strength not to be overpowered regarding the prayers before sunrise and before sunset, then do so (i.e., be diligent in these prayers)." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) recited this verse: "Glorify your Lord with His praise before the rising of the sun and before its setting."

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ وَهُوَ الضَّرِيرُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ الْعَبْسِيِّ، عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ يُحْرَمِ الرِّفْقَ يُحْرَمِ الْخَيْرَ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever is deprived of gentleness is deprived of goodness.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ يُعْمَلُ فِيهِمْ بِالْمَعَاصِي هُمْ أَعَزُّ مِنْهُمْ وَأَمْنَعُ، لَا يُغَيِّرُونَ إِلَّا عَمَّهُمُ اللهُ تَعَالَى بِعِقَابِهِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whenever a people commit a sin, and among them is an honorable and respected person who does not stop them, then Allah's punishment descends upon all of them." حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ (٣)، ،

Narrated to us Abd al-Razzaq, informed us Ma'mar, from Abu Ishaq, from Ubayd Allah ibn Jarir, from his father, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he mentioned its meaning..

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْمُنْذِرِ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: أَظُنُّهُ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَا عَمِلَ قَوْمٌ فَذَكَرَهُ "، (١)،

Narrated to us Aswad ibn ‘Amir, he narrated to me Sharik, from Abu Ishaq, from al-Mundhir, ‘Abd Allah said: I think, from Jarir, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, who said: "No people have acted..." and he mentioned it.

حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَسْوَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ (٢) بْنِ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَهُ (٣)،

It was narrated to us by Aswad, who said: Younus narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Ubaydullah ibn Jarir, from his father, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he mentioned it.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ: " بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاشْتَرَطَ عَلَيَّ النُّصْحَ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ "، فَإِنِّي لَكُمْ لَنَاصِحٌ (٤)، ،

Ziyad bin ‘Ilaqah (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard Jarir bin ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying on the pulpit that once I presented myself to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to pledge allegiance. The Prophet (peace be upon him) set the condition before me of wishing well for every Muslim. I am a well-wisher for all of you.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اسْتَنْصِتِ النَّاسَ، لَا تَرْجِعُوا بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet said to him during the Farewell Pilgrimage, "O Jarir! Make the people quiet," then during his sermon he said, "Do not become disbelievers after me, striking the necks of one another."

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ: بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ جَرِيرًا قَالَ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اسْتَنْصِتِ النَّاسَ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ: " لَا أَعْرِفَنَّ (٢) بَعْدَمَا أَرَى تَرْجِعُونَ بَعْدِي كُفَّارًا يَضْرِبُ بَعْضُكُمْ رِقَابَ بَعْضٍ " (٣)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سِمَاكَ بْنَ حَرْبٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمِيرَةَ، وَكَانَ (١) قَائِدَ الْأَعْشَى فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، قَالَ: فَقَبَضَ يَدَهُ، وَقَالَ: " وَالنُّصْحِ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّهُ مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمِ النَّاسَ لَمْ يَرْحَمْهُ (٢) اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " (٣)،

It is narrated from Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) that at the time of accepting Islam, I presented myself in the court of the Messenger and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I pledge allegiance to Islam." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) withdrew his hand and said, "Show goodwill to every Muslim." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever does not show mercy to people, Allah Almighty does not show mercy to him."
