حَدِيثُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ (١)، ١٨٠٠٨ - حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ، أَخِي بَنِي فِهْرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا كَمِثْلِ مَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِصْبَعَهُ هَذِهِ فِي الْيَمِّ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ بِمَا يَرْجِعُ وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،
It is narrated from Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The relation of this world to the Hereafter is only as much as the drop that remains on the finger of any one of you when he dips it into the sea; when he dips this finger, then takes it out and sees how much water is on it. Saying this, the Prophet (ﷺ) pointed with his index finger.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، وَيَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ، أَخَا بَنِي فِهْرٍ يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَاللهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا مِثْلُ مَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِصْبَعَهُ هَذِهِ فِي الْيَمِّ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ بِمَ تَرْجِعُ " يَعْنِي الَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ (١)،
It is narrated from Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The relation of this world to the Hereafter is only as much as the drop that remains on the finger of any one of you when he dips it into the sea; when he dips this finger, then takes it out and sees how much water is on it. حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِىِّ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، صَاحِبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ، ، اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ خَلَّلَ أَصَابِعَ رِجْلَيْهِ بِخِنْصَرِهِ " (١)، ،
It is narrated from Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that when he performed ablution, he would do khilal (interlacing) of his fingers starting from the little finger.

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ: حَدَّثَنَا وَقَّاصُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ، أَنَّ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنْ أَكَلَ بِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَكْلَةً، - وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: أُكْلَةً -، فَإِنَّ اللهَ يُطْعِمُهُ مِثْلَهَا مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمَنْ اكْتَسَى بِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ ثَوْبًا، فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَكْسُوهُ مِثْلَهُ مِنْ جَهَنَّمَ، وَمَنْ قَامَ بِرَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ مَقَامَ سُمْعَةٍ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَقُومُ بِهِ مَقَامَ سُمْعَةٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " (١)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،
It is narrated from Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever forcibly eats a morsel belonging to a Muslim, Allah Almighty will feed him the same amount from Hell. Whoever (forcibly snatches and) wears a Muslim's clothing, Allah Almighty will clothe him with a similar garment from Hell. And whoever puts a Muslim in a place of show and fame, Allah Almighty will place him in a place of publicity (exposure) on the Day of Resurrection.

حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ، أَخَا بَنِي فِهْرٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " وَاللهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا مِثْلُ مَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِصْبَعَهُ فِي الْيَمِّ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ بِمَ تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِ " (١)،
It is narrated from Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The relation of this world to the Hereafter is only as much as the drop of water that sticks to one of you’s finger when he dips it into the sea; let him see how much water remains on it when he takes it out.

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ فِي رَكْبٍ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ، إِذْ مَرَّ بِسَخْلَةٍ مَيْتَةٍ مَنْبُوذَةٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَانَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا؟ " فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مِنْ هَوَانِهَا أَلْقَوْهَا، قَالَ: " فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمِّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا " (١)،
It is narrated from Mustawrid bin Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was in the caravan of the Prophet (ﷺ) when he passed by a dead goat whose skin had been removed and it had been thrown away. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Do you think that its owner considered this goat insignificant?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah! They threw it away only because they considered it insignificant." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (ﷺ), as insignificant as this goat is in the eyes of its owner, the world is even more insignificant in the sight of Allah."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي قَيْسٌ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ، أَخَا بَنِي فِهْرٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَاللهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا مِثْلُ مَا يَجْعَلُ أَحَدُكُمْ إِصْبَعَهُ فِي الْيَمِّ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ بِمَ تَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِ " (٢)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ، والْحَارِثُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ بْنَ شَدَّادٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ وَلِيَ لَنَا (١) عَمَلًا وَلَيْسَ لَهُ مَنْزِلٌ، فَلْيَتَّخِذْ مَنْزِلًا، أَوْ لَيْسَتْ لَهُ زَوْجَةٌ فَلْيَتَزَوَّجْ، أَوْ لَيْسَ لَهُ خَادِمٌ فَلْيَتَّخِذْ خَادِمًا، أَوْ لَيْسَتْ لَهُ دَابَّةٌ فَلْيَتَّخِذْ دَابَّةً، وَمَنْ أَصَابَ شَيْئًا سِوَى ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ غَالٌّ " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،
It is narrated from Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever is appointed as a governor on our behalf and does not have a house in the relevant city, he may build a house; if he does not have a wife, he may marry; if he does not have a servant, he may keep one; if he does not have a mount, he may keep one. But whatever he takes beyond this, he will be considered a betrayer in the sight of Allah.

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، وَابْنُ دَاوُدَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْمَعَافِرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِىِّ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، صَاحِبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ يُخَلِّلُ أَصَابِعَ رِجْلَيْهِ بِخِنْصَرِهِ " (١)،

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي مَجْلِسٍ فِيهِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ فَسَمِعَ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ وَلِيَ عَمَلًا (٢) فَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ زَوْجَةً فَلْيَتَزَوَّجْ، أَوْ خَادِمًا (٣) فَلْيَتَّخِذْ خَادِمًا، أَوْ مَسْكَنًا (٤) ، أَوْ دَابَّةً، فَلْيَتَّخِذْ، دَابَّةً، فَمَنْ، ، أَصَابَ شَيْئًا سِوَى ذَلِكَ، فَهُوَ غَالٌّ، أَوْ سَارِقٌ (١) " (٢)،
It is narrated from Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying: Whoever is appointed as a governor on our behalf and does not have a house in the relevant city, he may build a house; if he does not have a wife, he may marry; if he does not have a servant, he may keep one; if he does not have a mount, he may keep one. حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ هُبَيْرَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ فِي مَجْلِسٍ فِيهِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ غَيْلَانَ فَسَمِعْتُ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ وَلِيَ لَنَا عَمَلًا " فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ الْحَارِثِ (٤)،
Hassan narrated to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to us, he said: ‘Abdullah ibn Hubayrah narrated to us, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr, he said: I was in a gathering in which were al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddad and ‘Amr ibn Ghailan, and I heard al-Mustawrid say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: "Whoever is appointed over a task for us," then he mentioned similar to the hadith of al-Harith.

حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُجَالِدٌ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " وَالَّذِي، ، نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا كَرَجُلٍ وَضَعَ إِصْبَعَهُ فِي الْيَمِّ ثُمَّ رَجَعَهَا "، قَالَ: وَإِنِّي لَفِي الرَّكْبِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَرَّ عَلَى سَخْلَةٍ مَنْبُوذَةٍ عَلَى كُنَاسَةٍ (١) ، فَقَالَ: " أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَانَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا؟ " فَقَالُوا: مِنْ هَوَانِهَا أَلْقَوْهَا هَاهُنَا، قَالَ: " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ، لَلدُّنْيَا عَلَى اللهِ أَهْوَنُ مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا " (٢)،

حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ يَعْنِي الْمُهَلَّبِيَّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُجَالِدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " وَاللهِ مَا الدُّنْيَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا كَرَجُلٍ وَضَعَ إِصْبَعَهُ فِي الْيَمِّ ثُمَّ رَجَعَتْ إِلَيْهِ، فَمَا أَخَذَ مِنْهُ؟ "، قَالَ: وَقَالَ الْمُسْتَوْرِدُ: أَشْهَدُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ مَعَ الرَّكْبِ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ مَرَّ بِمَنْزِلِ قَوْمٍ قَدِ ارْتَحَلُوا عَنْهُ، فَإِذَا، ، سَخْلَةٌ مَطْرُوحَةٌ، فَقَالَ: " أَتَرَوْنَ هَذِهِ هَانَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا حِينَ أَلْقَوْهَا " قَالُوا: مِنْ هَوَانِهَا (١) عَلَيْهِمْ أَلْقَوْهَا، قَالَ: " فَوَاللهِ لَلدُّنْيَا أَهْوَنُ عَلَى اللهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ عَلَى أَهْلِهَا " (٢)،

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُلَيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ الْفِهْرِيِّ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ: " تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ وَالرُّومُ أَكْثَرُ النَّاسِ "، فَقَالَ لَهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ: أَبْصِرْ مَا تَقُولُ، قَالَ: أَقُولُ لَكَ مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْعَاصِ: " لئِنْ قُلْتَ (٣) ذَاكَ إِنَّ فِيهِمْ لَخِصَالًا أَرْبَعًا: إِنَّهُمْ لَأَسْرَعُ النَّاسِ كَرَّةً بَعْدَ فَرَّةٍ، وَإِنَّهُمْ لَخَيْرُ النَّاسِ لِمِسْكِينٍ وَفَقِيرٍ وَضَعِيفٍ، وَإِنَّهُمْ لَأَحْلَمُ النَّاسِ عِنْدَ فِتْنَةٍ، وَالرَّابِعَةُ حَسَنَةٌ جَمِيلَةٌ: وَإِنَّهُمْ لَأَمْنَعُ النَّاسِ مِنْ ظُلْمِ الْمُلُوكِ " (٤)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،
It is narrated from Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said to Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him), "When the Day of Judgment is established, will the number of Romans be the greatest?" Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Think carefully about what you are saying." He replied, "I am saying only what I heard from the Prophet (ﷺ)." Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "If you are saying this, then it will be so. There are four qualities in these people: (1) After fleeing, they are the quickest to return and attack. (2) They are the best towards the poor, needy, and weak. (3) They are the most patient in times of trial. (4) And the fourth quality is the best: they protect others from the oppression of kings."

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، أَنَّ الْمُسْتَوْرِدَ قَالَ: بَيْنَا أَنَا عِنْدَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ (١) عَلَيْكُمُ الرُّومُ، وَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَتُهُمْ مَعَ السَّاعَةِ " فَقَالَ لَهُ عَمْرٌو: أَلَمْ أَزْجُرْكَ عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذَا (٢)، ،
It is narrated from Mustawrid (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I was with Amr bin Al-Aas (may Allah be pleased with him). During the conversation, I said to him that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: "The most severe people against you will be the Romans, and their destruction will only be completed near the Day of Judgment." Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Did I not forbid you from saying such things?"
