Hadith of Umm al-Fadl bint al-'Abbas, who is the sister of Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with them)

حَدِيثُ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ امْرَأَةِ عَبَّاسٍ، وَهِيَ أُخْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ (١)، ٢٦٨٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، أَنَّهَا " سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ بِالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that she heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) reciting Surah Mursalat in the Maghrib prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ أَفْطَرَ بِعَرَفَةَ، أُتِيَ بِرُمَّانٍ، فَأَكَلَهُ، وَقَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَفْطَرَ بِعَرَفَةَ، أَتَتْهُ بِلَبَنٍ، فَشَرِبَهُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Ibn Abbas that he expressed not fasting on the Day of Arafah in such a way that a pomegranate was brought to him, which he ate, and said that (my mother) Umm al-Fadl told me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not fast on the Day of Arafah because she brought milk to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and he drank it.

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، مَوْلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ، ، عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى أُمَّ حَبِيبِ بِنْتَ عَبَّاسٍ، وَهِيَ فَوْقَ الْفَطِيمِ، قَالَتْ: فَقَالَ: " لَئِنْ بَلَغَتْ بُنَيَّةُ الْعَبَّاسِ هَذِهِ وَأَنَا حَيٌّ، لَأَتَزَوَّجَنَّهَا " (١)،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw Umm Habib bint Abbas, at that time she was a little older than a nursing child, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If this daughter of Abbas grows up during my lifetime, I will marry her.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَتْ: " صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِهِ مُتَوَشِّحًا فِي ثَوْبِ الْمَغْرِبِ، فَقَرَأَ الْمُرْسَلَاتِ، مَا صَلَّى صَلَاةً بَعْدَهَا حَتَّى قُبِضَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that once the Prophet (ﷺ) led us in Maghrib prayer in his house, wrapped in a cloth, and in it he recited Surah Mursalat. After that, the Prophet (ﷺ) was not able to lead any prayer until he passed away.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَيْرًا، مَوْلَى أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ أُمِّ بَنِي الْعَبَّاسِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَتْ: " شَكُّوا فِي صَوْمِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ " فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ: " أَنَا أَعْلَمُ لَكُمْ ذَلِكَ، فَبَعَثَتْ بِلَبَنٍ، فَشَرِبَ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that (on the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage) on the day of Arafah, the people were in doubt about the fasting of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Umm al-Fadl said, "I will find out and inform you." So she sent milk to the Prophet (peace be upon him), and the Prophet (peace be upon him) drank it.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْهَاشِمِيِّ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِي، فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَانَتْ لِي امْرَأَةٌ، فَتَزَوَّجْتُ عَلَيْهَا امْرَأَةً أُخْرَى، فَزَعَمَتْ امْرَأَتِي الْأُولَى أَنَّهَا أَرْضَعَتْ امْرَأَتِي الْحُدْثَى إِمْلَاجَةً، أَوْ إِمْلَاجَتَيْنِ، وَقَالَ مَرَّةً: رَضْعَةً، أَوْ رَضْعَتَيْنِ، فَقَالَ: " لَا تُحَرِّمُ الْإِمْلَاجَةُ، وَلَا الْإِمْلَاجَتَانِ " أَوْ قَالَ: " الرَّضْعَةُ أَوِ الرَّضْعَتَانِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) was in my house when a Bedouin came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! I had a wife, and while she was with me, I married another woman. But my first wife claims that she gave one or two sips of milk to my new wife." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The prohibition of fosterage is not established by one or two sips."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا لَيْثٌ، وَيُونُسُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ هِنْدَ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَى الْعَبَّاسِ وَهُوَ يَشْتَكِي، فَتَمَنَّى الْمَوْتَ، فَقَالَ: " يَا عَبَّاسُ، يَا عَمَّ رَسُولِ اللهِ، لَا تَتَمَنَّ الْمَوْتَ، إِنْ كُنْتَ مُحْسِنًا تَزْدَادُ إِحْسَانًا إِلَى إِحْسَانِكَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ، وَإِنْ كُنْتَ مُسِيئًا، فَإِنْ تُؤَخَّرْ (١) تَسْتَعْتِبْ خَيْرٌ لَكَ، فَلَا تَتَمَنَّ الْمَوْتَ " قَالَ يُونُسُ: " وَإِنْ كُنْتَ مُسِيئًا، فَإِنْ تُؤَخَّرْ تَسْتَعْتِبْ مِنْ إِسَاءَتِكَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that the Prophet (peace be upon him) once came to visit Abbas, who was ill, and in the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him), he began to wish for death. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: O Abbas! O uncle of the Messenger of Allah! Do not wish for death, because if you are righteous, then an increase in your good deeds is better for you, and if you are sinful and you are being given respite to repent, then that too is better for you. Therefore, do not wish for death.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي (١) بُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ أَبِي الْمُخَارِقِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَتْ: رَأَيْتُ كَأَنَّ فِي بَيْتِي عُضْوًا مِنْ أَعْضَاءِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. قَالَتْ: فَجَزِعْتُ (٢) مِنْ ذَلِكَ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: " خَيْرًا رَأَيْتِ (٣) ، تَلِدُ فَاطِمَةُ غُلَامًا، فَتَكْفُلِينَهُ بِلَبَنِ ابْنِكِ قُثَمٍ " قَالَتْ: فَوَلَدَتْ حَسَنًا (٤) ، فَأُعْطِيتُهُ،، ، فَأَرْضَعْتُهُ حَتَّى تَحَرَّكَ، أَوْ فَطَمْتُهُ، ثُمَّ جِئْتُ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَجْلَسْتُهُ (١) فِي حِجْرِهِ، فَبَالَ، فَضَرَبْتُ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: " ارْفُقِي بِابْنِي، رَحِمَكِ اللهُ، أَوْ: أَصْلَحَكِ اللهُ، أَوْجَعْتِ ابْنِي " قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، اخْلَعْ إِزَارَكَ، وَالْبَسْ ثَوْبًا غَيْرَهُ حَتَّى أَغْسِلَهُ، قَالَ: " إِنَّمَا يُغْسَلُ بَوْلُ الْجَارِيَةِ، وَيُنْضَحُ بَوْلُ الْغُلَامِ " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ، °

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that once I saw in a dream as if a part of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) body had come into my house. I became very worried because of this dream. I went to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and mentioned my dream. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “You have seen a good dream. A child will be born to Fatimah, and you will nurse him with the milk that comes through your son Qutham.” And so it happened that Imam Hasan was born to Fatimah, and I nursed him until he began to walk, and then I weaned him. Then I took him to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and seated him in the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) lap. He urinated on the Prophet (peace be upon him). Seeing this, I lightly struck him between his shoulders, so the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “May Allah have mercy on you! Have compassion for my son! You have caused my son pain.” I said, “O Messenger of Allah! Please take off this cloak of yours and wear another garment so that I may wash it.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “When a girl urinates, it is washed; for a boy’s urine, only sprinkling is sufficient.”

[قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ:] وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِ أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ، وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ أَبِي مَعْمَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ، وَهِيَ أُمُّ وَلَدِ الْعَبَّاسِ، أُخْتُ مَيْمُونَةَ، قَالَتْ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَرَضِهِ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَبْكِي، فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ، فَقَالَ: " مَا يُبْكِيكِ؟ " قُلْتُ: خِفْنَا عَلَيْكَ، وَمَا (١) نَدْرِي مَا نَلْقَى مِنَ النَّاسِ بَعْدَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " أَنْتُمُ الْمُسْتَضْعَفُونَ بَعْدِي " (٢)،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that during the illness of the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) passing, one day I came into the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and began to weep. The Prophet (peace be upon him) raised his head and said, "Why are you weeping?" I submitted, "We fear about you (your departure from this world), and we do not know how people will treat us after you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "After me, you people will be considered weak."

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، وَبَهْزٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءٌ الْخُرَاسَانِيُّ، عَنْ لُبَابَةَ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُرْضِعُ الْحَسَنَ، أَوِ الْحُسَيْنَ (٣) ، قَالَتْ: فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَاضْطَجَعَ فِي مَكَانٍ مَرْشُوشٍ، فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى بَطْنِهِ، فَبَالَ عَلَى بَطْنِهِ، فَرَأَيْتُ الْبَوْلَ يَسِيلُ عَلَى، ، بَطْنِهِ (١) ، فَقُمْتُ إِلَى قِرْبَةٍ لِأَصُبَّهَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَا أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ، إِنَّ بَوْلَ الْغُلَامِ يُصَبُّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءُ، وَبَوْلُ الْجَارِيَةِ يُغْسَلُ " وَقَالَ بَهْزٌ: " غُسْلًا " حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ (٢) ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ: كَانَ عَطَاءٌ، يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ لُبَابَةَ (٣)،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that I was breastfeeding Imam Hasan or Husayn when the Prophet (ﷺ) came and sat on the wet spot. I brought the child to the Prophet (ﷺ) and placed him in his lap. He urinated on the Prophet (ﷺ). Seeing this, I wanted to pick up a water-skin to pour water over it, but the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "When a girl urinates, it is washed; for a boy's urine, it is sufficient to sprinkle water over it."

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَتْ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ فِي مَنَامِي، فِي بَيْتِي، أَوْ حُجْرَتِي (٤) عُضْوًا مِنْ أَعْضَائِكَ، قَالَ: " تَلِدُ فَاطِمَةُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللهُ غُلَامًا، فَتَكْفُلِينَهُ " فَوَلَدَتْ فَاطِمَةُ حَسَنًا (٥) ، فَدَفَعَتْهُ إِلَيْهَا، فَأَرْضَعَتْهُ بِلَبَنِ قُثَمَ، وَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا أَزُورُهُ، فَأَخَذَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ، فَبَالَ عَلَى، ، صَدْرِهِ (١) ، فَأَصَابَ الْبَوْلُ إِزَارَهُ، فَزَخَخْتُ بِيَدِي عَلَى كَتِفَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: " أَوْجَعْتِ ابْنِي أَصْلَحَكِ اللهُ " أَوْ قَالَ: " رَحِمَكِ اللهُ ". فَقُلْتُ: أَعْطِنِي إِزَارَكَ أَغْسِلْهُ، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّمَا يُغْسَلُ بَوْلُ الْجَارِيَةِ، وَيُصَبُّ عَلَى بَوْلِ الْغُلَامِ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that once I saw in a dream as if a part of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had come into my house. I became very worried because of this dream. I went to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and mentioned my dream. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "You have seen a good dream. حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَا تُحَرِّمُ الْإِمْلَاجَةُ، وَلَا الْإِمْلَاجَتَانِ " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The prohibition of suckling is not established by one or two sips.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَتْ: " إِنَّ آخِرَ مَا سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ سُورَةَ الْمُرْسَلَاتِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) reciting Surah Mursalat in the Maghrib prayer for the last time.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ أَبُو النَّضْرِ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ، مَوْلَى أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، أَنَّ أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ أَخْبَرَتْهُ: " أَنَّهُمْ شَكُّوا فِي صَوْمِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، فَأَرْسَلَتْ إِلَيْهِ بِلَبَنٍ، فَشَرِبَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ بِعَرَفَةَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ " (٢)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ قَابُوسَ بْنِ مُخَارِقٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَتْ: أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَذَكَرَتْ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ عَفَّانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ (١)،

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ عُمَيْرٍ، مَوْلَى أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ، " أَنَّهُمْ تَمَارَوْا فِي صَوْمِ رَسُولِ اللهُ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، فَبَعَثَتْ إِلَيْهِ بِقَدَحٍ فِيهِ لَبَنٌ، فَشَرِبَهُ " (٢)، ،

قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ: مَالِكٌ، وَحَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، الْمَعْنَى، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: إِنَّ أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ، سَمِعَتْهُ وَهُوَ يُقْرَأُ: وَالْمُرْسَلَاتِ عُرْفًا. فَقَالَتْ: " يَا بُنَيَّ، وَاللهِ لَقَدْ ذَكَّرْتَنِي بِقِرَاءَتِكَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ، إِنَّهَا لَآخِرُ مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقْرَأُ بِهَا فِي الْمَغْرِبِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that she heard Ibn Abbas reciting Surah Mursalat, so she said, "By Allah, dear son, by reciting this Surah you have reminded me that this is the last Surah I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) recite in the Maghrib prayer."

حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ،، ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: أَنَّهُ أَفْطَرَ بِعَرَفَةَ، قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ الْفَضْلِ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَفْطَرَ بِعَرَفَةَ، أَتَتْهُ بِلَبَنٍ، فَشَرِبَهُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Ibn Abbas that he expressed not fasting on the Day of Arafah in such a way that a pomegranate was brought to him, which he ate, and said that (my mother) Umm al-Fadl told me that the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not fast on the Day of Arafah because she had brought milk to the Prophet (peace be upon him), which he drank.

حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، وَعَفَّانُ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ أُمِّ الْفَضْلِ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ، قَالَتْ (٢) : سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتُحَرِّمُ الْمَصَّةُ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا " وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ، فَذَكَرَهُ (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Umm al-Fadl that once the Prophet (peace be upon him) was in my house when a Bedouin came and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Does the prohibition of suckling become established by drinking one or two sips of milk?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied, "The prohibition of suckling is not established by one or two sips."
