Radi Allahu Anhu is an Islamic honorific phrase that is used after reciting one of the As-Sahabah’s names (reserved for the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ).

Radi Allahu is a Dua that means May Allah be pleased and Anhu is a word that means on him which refers to the person we pray that Allah is pleased with. Combined the Dua means “May Allah be pleased with him”

Radiyallahu Anhu in Arabic consists of 3 words which are written with the Diacritical as:
رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ

Translation: May Allah be pleased with both of them.

When to Say Radeyallahu Anhu
The honorific phrase should be used right after mentioning one of the As-Sahabah’s or wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) name.
Radi Allahu Anhu Origin
The phrase is mentioned in the Quran in Surah at-Tawbah Ayat 100 where it says:
Wassabiqoona al-awwaloonamina almuhajireena wal-ansari wallatheenaittabaAAoohum bi-ihsanin radiya AllahuAAanhum waradoo AAanhu waaAAadda lahum jannatintajree tahtaha al-anharu khalideenafeeha abadan thalika alfawzu alAAatheem
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَـٰنٍۢ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى تَحْتَهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhājireen and the Anṣār and those who followed them with good conduct – Allāh is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment.
