Hadith of Al-Muttalib ibn Abi Wada'ah (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ، ١٧٨٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ، قَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَجَدَ فِي النَّجْمِ، وَسَجَدَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ "، قَالَ الْمُطَّلِبُ: وَلَمْ أَسْجُدْ مَعَهُمْ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُشْرِكٌ، قَالَ الْمُطَّلِبُّ: " فَلَا أَدَعُ السُّجُودَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا " (١)،

It is narrated from Mutlib bin Abi Wada'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) perform a prostration of recitation at the verse of prostration in Surah An-Najm, and all the people also prostrated, but I did not prostrate because at that time I was a polytheist. Therefore, now I will never leave out the prostration in it.

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا رَبَاحٌ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: " " قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ سُورَةَ النَّجْمِ، فَسَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ مَنْ عِنْدَهُ " " فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي وَأَبَيْتُ أَنْ أَسْجُدَ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ، ، أَسْلَمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُطَّلِبُ: " " وَكَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ لَا يَسْمَعُ أَحَدًا يَقْرَأُ بِهَا إِلَّا سَجَدَ مَعَهُ " (١)، ،
