Ahadith of Abdullah ibn al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him)

عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ (١) (٢)، ١٥٣٩١ - حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ السَّائِبِ، كَانَ يَقُودُ (٣) عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَيُقِيمُهُ عِنْدَ الشِّقَّةِ الثَّالِثَةِ مِمَّا يَلِي الْبَابَ، مِمَّا يَلِي الْحَجَرَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَعْنِي الْقَائِلُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ: " إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُومُ هَاهُنَا أَوْ يُصَلِّي هَاهُنَا "؟ فَيَقُولُ: نَعَمْ، فَيَقُومُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَيُصَلِّي (٤)، ،

It is narrated that Abdullah bin Sa’ib was the guide of Abdullah bin Abbas. He would bring him and make him stand in the third row near the Black Stone in front of the door of the Ka’bah. Ibn Abbas would ask him whether the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to stand or pray here. When he replied in the affirmative, Ibn Abbas would stand there and pray.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ، فَوَضَعَ نَعْلَيْهِ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ " قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: سَمِعْتُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ مِنْ أَبِي ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ (١)، ،

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) prayed on the day of the conquest of Makkah, he took off his sandals and placed them on his left side.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فِي الْفَجْرِ، فَقَرَأَ بِسُورَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ ذِكْرَ مُوسَى وهَارُونَ، أَصَابَتْهُ سَعْلَةٌ، فَرَكَعَ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began the Fajr prayer on the day of the conquest of Makkah, he recited Surah Al-Mu’minun in it. But when he reached the mention of Musa and Harun, he began to cough, so he shortened the recitation and went into bowing (ruku’).

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، وَعَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ الْعَابِدِيُّ (١) ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ بِمَكَّةَ " قَالَ: " فَافْتَتَحَ سُورَةً الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (٢) فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَى ذِكْرِ مُوسَى وَهَارُونَ - أَوْ ذِكْرِ عِيسَى مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ يَشُكُّ، فَاخْتَلَفُوا (٣) عَلَيْهِ - أَخَذَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَعْلَةٌ، فَرَكَعَ " قَالَ: وَابْنُ السَّائِبِ حَاضِرُ ذَلِكَ (٤)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ (١) مُسْلِمِ بْنُ أَبِي الْوَضَّاحِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِي، (٢) عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ بَعْدَ الزَّوَالِ أَرْبَعًا، وَيَقُولُ: " إِنَّ أَبْوَابَ السَّمَاءِ تُفْتَحُ، فَأُحِبُّ أَنْ أُقَدِّمَ فِيهَا عَمَلًا صَالِحًا " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Sa’ib, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to pray four rak‘ahs after the sun had passed its zenith and before the Zuhr prayer, and he used to say that at this time the gates of the heavens are opened, so I wish that a righteous deed of mine be raised up at this time.

حَدَّثَنَا هَوْذَةُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ: حَدَّثَنِي حَدِيثًا، رَفَعَهُ إِلَى أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ، وَعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ: " حَضَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَصَلَّى فِي قِبَلِ الْكَعْبَةِ، فَخَلَعَ نَعْلَيْهِ، فَوَضَعَهُمَا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، ثُمَّ اسْتَفْتَحَ سُورَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ ذِكْرُ عِيسَى أَوْ مُوسَى أَخَذَتْهُ سَعْلَةٌ فَرَكَعَ " (١)،

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began the Fajr prayer on the day of the conquest of Makkah, he recited Surah Al-Mu’minun in it. حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، وَرَوْحٌ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ، (٢) قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، مَوْلَى السَّائِبِ، أَنَّ، ، أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ السَّائِبِ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ رُكْنِ بَنِي جُمَحَ، وَالرُّكْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ: " {رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً، وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً، وَقِنَا} [البقرة: ٢٠١] عَذَابَ النَّارِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reciting this supplication between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone: "Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and save us from the punishment of the Fire."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَقُولُ (١) بَيْنَ الرُّكْنِ الْيَمَانِي وَالْحَجَرِ: {رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً، وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً، وَقِنَا} [البقرة: ٢٠١] عَذَابَ النَّارِ "،، ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ، وَرَوْحٌ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ رُكْنِ بَنِي جُمَحَ وَالرُّكْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ: {رَبَّنَا آتِنَا} [البقرة: ٢٠١] (١)،
