Hadith of Salamah ibn al-Muhabbik (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ، ١٥٩٠٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي نَحَّازُ (١) بْنُ جُدَيٍّ (١) الْحَنَفِيُّ، عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِالْقُدُورِ، فَأُكْفِئَتْ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ، وَكَانَ فِيهَا لُحُومُ حُمُرِ النَّاسِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Salamah that on the day of the Battle of Khaybar, by the order of the Prophet (peace be upon him), the pots were overturned because they contained the meat of domesticated donkeys.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، وَهَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِبَيْتٍ بِفِنَائِهِ قِرْبَةٌ مُعَلَّقَةٌ فَاسْتَسْقَى، فَقِيلَ: إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ، قَالَ: " ذَكَاةُ الْأَدِيمِ دِبَاغُهُ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Salamah that once the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by a house in the courtyard of which a water-skin was hanging. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked those people for water to drink. They said, "This is the skin of a dead animal." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Tanning purifies the skin."

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ أَبُو قَطَنٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ جَوْنِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " دِبَاغُهَا طُهُورُهَا أَوْ ذَكَاتُهَا " (١)،

It is narrated from Salamah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Tanning is the purification of the hide.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دَلْهَمٍ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ قَبِيصَةَ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " خُذُوا عَنِّي، خُذُوا عَنِّي، قَدْ جَعَلَ اللهُ لَهُنَّ سَبِيلًا (٢) ، الْبِكْرُ بِالْبِكْرِ جَلْدُ مِائَةٍ،، ، وَنَفْيُ سَنَةٍ، وَالثَّيِّبُ بِالثَّيِّبِ جَلْدُ مِائَةٍ، وَالرَّجْمُ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Salamah that the Prophet (peace be upon him) once said: Learn this ruling from me and acquire it. Allah has specified the ruling for women who commit adultery. If an unmarried man commits adultery with an unmarried woman, they are to be given one hundred lashes and exiled for one year. And if a married man commits adultery with a married woman, they are to be given one hundred lashes and stoned to death.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُوَاقِعُ جَارِيَةَ امْرَأَتِهِ؟ قَالَ: " إِنْ أَكْرَهَهَا (١) فَهِيَ حُرَّةٌ، وَلَهَا عَلَيْهِ مِثْلُهَا، وَإِنْ طَاوَعَتْهُ فَهِيَ أَمَتُهُ، وَلَهَا عَلَيْهِ مِثْلُهَا " (٢)،

It is narrated from Salamah that a man asked the Prophet (ﷺ) what is the ruling if a man has relations with his wife's slave woman. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If he forced the slave woman into this act, then she will become free and the man will be liable to pay her the equivalent of a dowry. And if this act was done with her consent, then she will remain his slave woman, but the man will still have to pay the equivalent of a dowry.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ، ، عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَزْدِيِّ ثُمَّ الْعَوْذِيِّ (١) ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي حَبِيبُ بْنُ (٢) عَبْدِ اللهِ يَعْنِي أَبَاهُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سِنَانَ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْمُحَبِّقِ الْهُذَلِيَّ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ حَمُولَةٌ تَأْوِي إِلَى شِبَعٍ فَلْيَصُمْ رَمَضَانَ حَيْثُ أَدْرَكَهُ " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Salamah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever has the strength to endure hunger, and he encounters the month of Ramadan while traveling, then he should fast.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّحَّازِ الْحَنَفِيِّ، أَنَّ سِنَانَ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِلُحُومِ حُمُرِ النَّاسِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ وَهِيَ فِي الْقُدُورِ فَأُكْفِئَتْ " (١)، ،
