From the Hadith of Asma' bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her)

مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَسْمَاءَ بْنتِ يَزِيدَ (١)، ٢٧٥٦٠ - حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، [قَالَ: عَبْدُ اللهِ] : قَالَ أَبِي: وَقُرِئَ عَلَى سُفْيَانَ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، وَحَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ شَهْرٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَا تَجْمَعْنَ جُوعًا وَكَذِبًا " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do not combine hunger and lying."

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، سَمِعَ شَهْرًا يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ - إِحْدَى نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ - تَقُولُ: مَرَّ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ فِي نِسْوَةٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا وَقَالَ: " إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ " فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا كُفْرُ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ؟ قَالَ: " لَعَلَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ تَطُولَ أَيْمَتُهَا بَيْنَ أَبَوَيْهَا، وَتَعْنُسَ فَيَرْزُقَهَا اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ زَوْجًا (١) ، وَيَرْزُقَهَا مِنْهُ مَالًا، وَوَلَدًا فَتَغْضَبَ الْغَضْبَةَ فَتَقُولُ (٢) : مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ يَوْمًا خَيْرًا قَطُّ وَقَالَ: مَرَّةً خَيْرًا قَطُّ " (٣)، ،

Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her), who belonged to Banu Abdul-Ashhal, says that once the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by us while we were with some women. The Prophet (ﷺ) greeted us with salam and said: "Protect yourselves from being ungrateful to those who do good to you." We asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by being ungrateful to those who do good? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "It may be that one of you stays at her parents' home for a long time waiting for a proposal, then Allah grants her a husband and gives her wealth and property through him, and then one day, in anger, she says: 'I have never seen any good from you.'"

حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ دُكَيْنٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي غَنِيَّةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُهَاجِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ سِرًّا فَإِنَّ قَتْلَ الْغَيْلِ يُدْرِكُ الْفَارِسَ، فَيُدَعْثِرُهُ عَنْ ظَهْرِ فَرَسِهِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: "Do not secretly kill your children, for as a result of intimacy with the wife during the period of breastfeeding, when the nursing child grows up, the horse throws him off its back (he cannot sit firmly on the horse)."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي الْأَوْدِيَّ، عَنْ شَهْرٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأُبَايِعَهُ، ، فَدَنَوْتُ وَعَلَيَّ سِوَارَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَبَصُرَ بِبَصِيصِهِمَا (١) فَقَالَ: " أَلْقِي السِّوَارَيْنِ يَا أَسْمَاءُ أَمَا تَخَافِينَ أَنْ يُسَوِّرَكِ اللهُ بِأَسَاوِرَ (٢) مِنْ نَارٍ " قَالَتْ: فَأَلْقَيْتُهُمَا فَمَا أَدْرِي مَنْ أَخَذَهُمَا (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that I came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) to pledge allegiance. When I approached the Prophet (ﷺ), his gaze fell upon the two bangles I was wearing. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Asma! Remove these two bangles. Do you not fear that Allah may make you wear two bangles of fire in their place?" So I took them off, and I do not remember who took them after that.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِى ابْنَ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيَّ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَصْلُحُ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ شَيْءٌ، وَلَا خَرْبَصِيصَةُ (١) " (٢)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Gold and silk do not provide any benefit of brilliance."

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ، قَالَتْ: " تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَدِرْعُهُ مَرْهُونَةٌ " (٣)، •

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (ﷺ) passed away, his armor was held in pledge.

[حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ] ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ (٤) ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَهْرَامَ الْفَزَارِيُّ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ، ، بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ مِثْلَهُ (١)،

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ شَهْرٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ، قَالَتْ: أَتَانَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأُتِيَ بِلَبَنٍ فَقَالَ: " أَتَشْرَبْنَ (٢) ؟ " قُلْنَا لَا نَشْتَهِيهِ فَقَالَ: " لَا تَجْمَعْنَ كَذِبًا وَجُوعًا " (٣)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) came to us, and milk was presented to him. He asked the women: "Will you also drink?" They replied: "We do not desire it." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do not combine hunger and falsehood."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَقَالَ: " إِذَا كَانَ قَبْلَ خُرُوجِ الدَّجَّالِ بِثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ، حَبَسَتِ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَ قَطْرِهَا، وَحَبَسَتِ الْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَ نَبَاتِهَا، فَإِذَا كَانَتِ السَّنَةُ الثَّانِيَةُ حَبَسَتِ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَيْ قَطْرِهَا، وَحَبَسَتِ الْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَيْ نَبَاتِهَا، فَإِذَا كَانَتِ السَّنَةُ الثَّالِثَةُ حَبَسَتِ السَّمَاءُ قَطْرَهَا كُلَّهُ، وَحَبَسَتِ الْأَرْضُ نَبَاتَهَا كُلَّهُ، فَلَا يَبْقَى ذُو خُفٍّ، وَلَا ظِلْفٍ إِلَّا، ، هَلَكَ فَيَقُولُ: الدَّجَّالُ لِلرَّجُلِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ بَعَثْتُ إِبِلَكَ ضِخَامًا، ضُرُوعُهَا عِظَامًا أَسْنِمَتُهَا أَتَعْلَمُ أَنِّي رَبُّكَ؟ فَيَقُولُ: نَعَمْ فَتَمَثَّلُ لَهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ عَلَى صُورَةٍ فَيَتَّبِعُهُ وَيَقُولُ: لِلرَّجُلِ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ بَعَثْتُ أَبَاكَ، وَابْنَكَ (١) وَمَنْ تَعْرِفُ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ أَتَعْلَمُ أَنِّي رَبُّكَ؟ فَيَقُولُ: نَعَمْ فَتَمْثُلُ (٢) لَهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ عَلَى صُوَرِهِمْ (٣) فَيَتَّبِعُهُ " ثُمَّ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَكَى أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَنَحْنُ نَبْكِي فَقَالَ: " مَا يُبْكِيكُمْ؟ " فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا ذَكَرْتَ مِنَ الدَّجَّالِ فَوَاللهِ إِنَّ أَمَةَ أَهْلِي لَتَعْجِنُ عَجِينَهَا فَمَا تَبْلُغُ حَتَّى تَكَادَ تَتَفَتَّتُ (٤) مِنَ الْجُوعِ فَكَيْفَ نَصْنَعُ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَكْفِي الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنِ (٥) الطَّعَامِ، وَالشَّرَابِ يَوْمَئِذٍ التَّكْبِيرُ، وَالتَّسْبِيحُ، وَالتَّحْمِيدُ " ثُمَّ قَالَ: " لَا تَبْكُوا فَإِنْ يَخْرُجِ الدَّجَّالُ، وَأَنَا فِيكُمْ فَأَنَا حَجِيجُهُ، وَإِنْ يَخْرُجْ بَعْدِي فَاللهُ خَلِيفَتِي عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ " (٦)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that once we were with the Prophet (ﷺ) in his house. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Three years before the emergence of Dajjal, the sky will withhold one third of its rain and the earth will withhold one third of its vegetation. In the second year, the sky will withhold two thirds of its rain and the earth will withhold two thirds of its produce. In the third year, the sky will withhold all of its rain and the earth will withhold all of its produce, and every living creature with hooves and cloven feet will perish. At that time, Dajjal will say to a villager: 'Tell me, if I bring your camels back to life, their udders full and large, and their humps great, will you believe that I am your Lord?' He will say, 'Yes!' Then the devils will appear before him in the form of camels, and he will begin to follow Dajjal. In the same way, Dajjal will say to another man: 'Tell me, if I bring your father, your son, and all those among your family whom you recognize back to life, will you believe that I am your Lord?' He will say, 'Yes!' Then the devils will appear before him in those forms, and he will begin to follow Dajjal." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) left, and the family members began to weep. When the Prophet (ﷺ) returned, we were crying at that time. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked: "Why are you crying?" I said: O Messenger of Allah! What you have mentioned about Dajjal—by Allah! The maid in my house is kneading dough, and before she can finish kneading it, I feel as if my heart is being torn apart with hunger. So what will we do on that day? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "On that day, for the Muslims, glorifying Allah (takbeer), declaring His perfection (tasbeeh), and praising Him (tahmeed) will suffice instead of food and drink." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do not weep. If Dajjal appears while I am among you, I will confront him, and if he emerges after me, then Allah will be my successor over every Muslim."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: " سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ: (إِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صَالِحٍ) ، وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقْرَأُ (يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا وَلَا يُبَالِي (١) إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reciting this verse in this way: « إِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صَالِحٍ » and I heard him reciting this verse in this way: « يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ, لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ, إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا, وَلَا يُبَالِي, إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ».

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ يَقُولُ: " أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا (١) مَا يَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَى أَنْ تَتَابَعُوا فِي الْكَذِبِ كَمَا يَتَتَابَعُ الْفَرَاشُ فِي النَّارِ كُلُّ الْكَذِبِ يُكْتَبُ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ رَجُلٌ (٢) كَذَبَ امْرَأَتَهُ (٣) لِيُرْضِيَهَا، أَوْ رَجُلٌ (٤) كَذَبَ فِي خَدِيعَةِ حَرْبٍ، أَوْ رَجُلٌ (٥) كَذَبَ بَيْنَ امْرَأَيْنِ، ، مُسْلِمَيْنِ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَهُمَا " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying during a sermon: O people! What compels you to fall into lying “like moths fall into the fire”? Every lie of the son of Adam is written against him, except in three cases: one is the man who lies to please his wife, the second is the man who lies in war, and the third is the man who lies to reconcile between two Muslims.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَمْكُثُ الدَّجَّالُ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، السَّنَةُ كَالشَّهْرِ، وَالشَّهْرُ كَالْجُمُعَةِ، وَالْجُمُعَةُ كَالْيَوْمِ، وَالْيَوْمُ كَاضْطِرَامِ السَّعْفَةِ فِي النَّارِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The Dajjal will remain on the earth for forty years; one of his years will be like a month, one month like a week, one week like a day, and one day will be like a spark flaring up."

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ هُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَمَعَ نِسَاءَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لِلْبَيْعَةِ (١) فَقَالَتْ لَهُ: أَسْمَاءُ أَلَا تَحْسُرُ لَنَا عَنْ يَدِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنِّي لَسْتُ أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ وَلَكِنْ آخُذُ عَلَيْهِنَّ " وَفِي النِّسَاءِ خَالَةٌ لَهَا عَلَيْهَا قُلْبَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَخَوَاتِيمُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَا هَذِهِ هَلْ يَسُرُّكِ (٢) أَنْ يُحَلِّيَكِ اللهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ جَمْرِ جَهَنَّمَ سِوَارَيْنِ وَخَوَاتِيمَ؟ " فَقَالَتْ: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا خَالَةُ (٣) اطْرَحِي مَا عَلَيْكِ فَطَرَحَتْهُ فَحَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ، وَاللهِ يَا بُنَيَّ لَقَدْ طَرَحَتْهُ فَمَا أَدْرِي مَنْ لَقَطَهُ مِنْ مَكَانِهِ، وَلَا الْتَفَتَ مِنَّا أَحَدٌ إِلَيْهِ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّ إِحْدَاهُنَّ تَصْلَفُ عِنْدَ زَوْجِهَا، إِذَا لَمْ تُمَلَّحْ لَهُ أَوْ تَحَلَّى لَهُ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا عَلَى إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ تَتَّخِذَ قُرْطَيْنِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، وَتَتَّخِذَ لَهَا (٤)، ، جُمَانَتَيْنِ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَتُدْرِجَهُ بَيْنَ أَنَامِلِهَا بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ زَعْفَرَانٍ، فَإِذَا هُوَ كَالذَّهَبِ يَبْرُقُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) gathered the Muslim women for allegiance (bay‘ah). Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! Why do you not extend your hand for us? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I do not shake hands with women, but I take the pledge verbally." Among those women was an aunt of Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) who was wearing gold bangles and gold rings. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "O woman! Do you like that Allah, the Exalted, should make you wear bangles and rings of fire on the Day of Resurrection?" She said: O Messenger of Allah! I seek refuge with Allah from that. I said to my aunt: Aunt! Take them off and throw them away. So she took them off and threw them away. Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) says: By Allah! When she took them off and threw them away, I do not remember anyone picking them up from their place, nor did any of us even glance at them. Then I said: O Messenger of Allah! If a woman does not adorn herself with jewelry, she becomes insignificant in the eyes of her husband? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "There is no harm for you in making earrings of silver and having pearls set in them, and filling their holes with a little saffron, which will make them shine like gold."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: " إِنَّ مَعْمَرًا شَرِبَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ بِأَنْقَعَ (٢) " [قَالَ: عَبْدُ اللهِ:] قَالَ أَبِي: " وَمَاتَ مَعْمَرٌ وَلَهُ ثَمَانٍ، ، وَخَمْسُونَ سَنَةً " (١) (٢)، ،

Abdur Razzaq, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates the statement of Ibn Jurayj that Ma'mar has drunk the pure wine of knowledge. The son of Imam Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, says that my father said: Ma'mar passed away at the age of fifty-eight.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " الْخَيْلُ فِي نَوَاصِيهَا الْخَيْرُ مَعْقُودٌ أَبَدًا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ، فَمَنْ رَبَطَهَا عُدَّةً فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَأَنْفَقَ عَلَيْهَا احْتِسَابًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَإِنَّ شِبَعَهَا وَجُوعَهَا، وَرِيَّهَا، وَظَمَأَهَا (١) ، وَأَرْوَاثَهَا، وَأَبْوَالَهَا فَلَاحٌ فِي مَوَازِينِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَمَنْ رَبَطَهَا رِيَاءً، وَسُمْعَةً، وَفَرَحًا، وَمَرَحًا فَإِنَّ شِبَعَهَا، وَجُوعَهَا، وَرِيَّهَا، وَظَمَأَهَا، وَأَرْوَاثَهَا، وَأَبْوَالَهَا خُسْرَانٌ فِي مَوَازِينِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Goodness has been tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection. So whoever keeps these horses as equipment in the way of Allah and spends on them with the intention of reward, then their being full or hungry, quenched or thirsty, and even their urine and dung will be a cause of success for him in his record of deeds on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever keeps these horses for show, pride, and arrogance, then their being full or hungry, quenched or thirsty, and their urine and dung will be a cause of loss for him in his record of deeds on the Day of Resurrection."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي شَيْبَانَ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: إِنِّي لَآخِذَةٌ بِزِمَامِ الْعَضْبَاءِ - نَاقَةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -: " إِذْ أُنْزِلَتْ (١) عَلَيْهِ الْمَائِدَةُ كُلُّهَا فَكَادَتْ مِنْ ثِقَلِهَا تَدُقُّ بِعَضُدِ النَّاقَةِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that when Surah Al-Ma'idah was completely revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ), I was holding the rein of his she-camel "Adba’", and due to the weight of the revelation, it felt as if the foreleg of the camel would break.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ، وَحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ شَهْرٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشَرَابٍ فَدَارَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ، وَفِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ صَائِمٌ فَلَمَّا بَلَغَهُ قَالَ لَهُ: " اشْرَبْ " فَقِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ يُفْطِرُ، - أَوْ: َيَصُومُ الدَّهْرَ - فَقَالَ - يَعْنِي رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -: " لَا صَامَ مَنْ صَامَ الْأَبَدَ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that once a drink was presented to the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) also offered it to the people. As the vessel went around, it reached a man who was fasting. The Prophet (ﷺ) told him to drink as well. Someone said, "O Messenger of Allah! He never leaves fasting; he always fasts." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The one who always fasts has no (real) fast."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، وَعَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ تَحَلَّتْ قِلَادَةً (١) مِنْ ذَهَبٍ جُعِلَ فِي عُنُقِهَا مِثْلُهَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ جَعَلَتْ فِي أُذُنِهَا خُرْصَةً مِنْ ذَهَبٍ جُعِلَ فِي أُذُنِهَا مِثْلُهَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " قَالَ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ جَعَلَتْ فِي أُذُنِهَا خُرْصًا جُعِلَ فِي أُذُنِهَا مِثْلُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ (٢)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The woman who wears a gold necklace, on the Day of Resurrection a similar necklace of fire will be put around her neck, and the woman who wears gold earrings, similar earrings of fire will be put in her ears on the Day of Resurrection."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ السَّرَّاجُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ شَهْرَ بْنَ حَوْشَبٍ، يُحَدِّثُ، ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَحْضُرُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ النِّسَاءِ، فَأَبْصَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ امْرَأَةً عَلَيْهَا سِوَارَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَالَ لَهَا: " أَيَسُرُّكِ أَنْ يُسَوِّرَكِ اللهُ سِوَارَيْنِ مِنْ نَارٍ؟ " قَالَتْ: فَأَخْرَجَتْهُ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ: " فَوَاللهِ مَا أَدْرِي أَهِيَ نَزَعَتْهُ أَمْ أَنَا نَزَعْتُهُ " (١)،

It is narrated from Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that I came to the Prophet (ﷺ) to pledge allegiance. When I came near the Prophet (ﷺ), his gaze fell upon the two bangles I was wearing. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Asma! Take off these two bangles. Do you not fear that Allah may make you wear two bangles of fire in exchange for them?" So I took them off, and I do not remember who took them after that.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَيْتِي فَذَكَرَ الدَّجَّالَ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ، سَنَةٌ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَ قَطْرِهَا، وَالْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَ نَبَاتِهَا، وَالثَّانِيَةُ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ ثُلُثَيْ قَطْرِهَا، وَالْأَرْضُ ثُلُثَيْ نَبَاتِهَا، وَالثَّالِثَةُ تُمْسِكُ السَّمَاءُ قَطْرَهَا كُلَّهُ، وَالْأَرْضُ نَبَاتَهَا كُلَّهُ، فَلَا يَبْقَى ذَاتُ ضِرْسٍ، وَلَا ذَاتُ ظِلْفٍ مِنَ الْبَهَائِمِ، إِلَّا هَلَكَتْ وَإِنَّ أَشَدَّ (٢) فِتْنَةٍ، يَأْتِيَ الْأَعْرَابِيَّ فَيَقُولَ: أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أَحْيَيْتُ لَكَ إِبِلَكَ أَلَسْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي رَبُّكَ قَالَ: فَيَقُولُ: بَلَى فَتَمَثَّلَ الشَّيَاطِينُ لَهُ نَحْوَ إِبِلِهِ كَأَحْسَنِ، ، مَا تَكُونُ ضُرُوعُهَا، وَأَعْظَمِهِ أَسْنِمَةً قَالَ: وَيَأْتِي الرَّجُلَ قَدْ مَاتَ أَخُوهُ، وَمَاتَ أَبُوهُ فَيَقُولُ: أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أَحْيَيْتُ لَكَ أَبَاكَ، وَأَحْيَيْتُ لَكَ أَخَاكَ أَلَسْتَ تَعْلَمُ أَنِّي رَبُّكَ فَيَقُولُ: بَلَى فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ نَحْوَ أَبِيهِ، وَنَحْوَ أَخِيهِ " قَالَتْ: ثُمَّ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِحَاجَةٍ لَهُ (١) ثُمَّ رَجَعَ قَالَتْ: وَالْقَوْمُ فِي اهْتِمَامٍ وَغَمٍّ مِمَّا حَدَّثَهُمْ بِهِ قَالَتْ: فَأَخَذَ بِلُحْمَتَيِ (٢) الْبَابِ وَقَالَ: " مَهْيَمْ أَسْمَاءُ؟ " قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، لَقَدْ خَلَعْتَ أَفْئِدَتَنَا بِذِكْرِ الدَّجَّالِ قَالَ: " وَإِنْ يَخْرُجْ وَأَنَا حَيٌّ فَأَنَا حَجِيجُهُ، وَإِلَّا فَإِنَّ رَبِّي خَلِيفَتِي عَلَى كُلِّ مُؤْمِنٍ " قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا وَاللهِ لَنَعْجِنُ عَجِينَتَنَا (٣) فَمَا نَخْتَبِزُهَا حَتَّى نَجُوعَ، فَكَيْفَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟ قَالَ: " يُجْزِيهِمْ مَا يُجْزِي أَهْلَ السَّمَاءِ مِنَ التَّسْبِيحِ وَالتَّقْدِيسِ " (٤)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that once we were with the Prophet (ﷺ) in his house. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Three years before the emergence of Dajjal, the sky will withhold one third of its rain and the earth will withhold one third of its vegetation. In the second year, the sky will withhold two thirds of its rain and the earth will withhold two thirds of its produce. In the third year, the sky will withhold all of its rain and the earth will withhold all of its produce, and every living creature with hooves and cloven feet will perish. At that time, Dajjal will say to a villager, 'Tell me, if I bring your camels back to life, their udders full and large, and their humps great, will you believe that I am your Lord?' He will say, 'Yes!' Then the devils will appear before him in the form of camels, and he will begin to follow Dajjal. In the same way, Dajjal will say to another man, 'Tell me, if I bring your father, your son, and all those among your family whom you recognize back to life, will you believe that I am your Lord?' He will say, 'Yes!' Then the devils will appear before him in those forms, and he will begin to follow Dajjal." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) left, and the family members began to weep. When the Prophet (ﷺ) returned, we were crying at that time. The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, "Why are you crying?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah! What you have mentioned about Dajjal—by Allah! The maid in my house is kneading dough, and before she can finish kneading it, I feel as if my heart is being torn apart from hunger. So what will we do on that day?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "On that day, for the Muslims, glorifying Allah (takbeer), declaring His perfection (tasbeeh), and praising Him (tahmeed) will suffice instead of food and drink." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do not weep. If Dajjal appears while I am among you, I will confront him, and if he emerges after me, then Allah will be my successor over every Muslim."

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَهْرٌ، قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَلَسَ مَجْلِسًا مَرَّةً يُحَدِّثُهُمْ عَنْ أَعْوَرِ الدَّجَّالِ فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَهُ وَزَادَ فِيهِ فَقَالَ: مَهْيَمْ وَكَانَتْ كَلِمَةُ مِنْ (١) رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَأَلَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ يَقُولُ: مَهْيَمْ وَزَادَ فِيهِ " فَمَنْ حَضَرَ مَجْلِسِي، وَسَمِعَ قَوْلِي فَلْيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ، وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ صَحِيحٌ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ، وَأَنَّ الدَّجَّالَ أَعْوَرُ مَمْسُوحُ الْعَيْنِ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ مَكْتُوبٌ كَافِرٌ يَقْرَؤُهُ كُلُّ مُؤْمِنٍ كَاتِبٍ وَغَيْرِ كَاتِبٍ " (٢)، ،

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain, however, there is this addition in it that whoever is present in my gathering and hears my words, then those present among you should convey these words to those who are absent, and be certain that Allah Almighty is sound and whole, He is not one-eyed, whereas the Dajjal will be blind in one eye and one eye will be wiped out, and between his two eyes will be written "disbeliever" (kafir), which every believer—whether he knows how to read and write or not—will be able to read.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ، مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ - يُقَالُ لَهَا: أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ سَكَنٍ - قَالَتْ: لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ سَعْدُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ صَاحَتْ أُمُّهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا يَرْقَأُ دَمْعُكِ، وَيَذْهَبُ حُزْنُكِ، فَإِنَّ ابْنَكِ أَوَّلُ مَنْ ضَحِكَ اللهُ لَهُ، وَاهْتَزَّ لَهُ الْعَرْشُ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that when Saad bin Muadh (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, his mother began to weep and wail. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Why are your tears not stopping and why is your grief not departing, when your son is the first person at whom Allah smiled and His Throne shook?"

حَدَّثَنَا هَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَارِجَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الْعَجْلَانِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " الْعَقِيقَةُ عَنِ الْغُلَامِ (١) شَاتَانِ مُكَافَأَتَانِ، وَعَنِ الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "For a boy, two goats should be sacrificed for 'Aqiqah, and for a girl, one goat."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ السَّرَّاجُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ شَهْرًا، يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالرِّجَالُ وَالنِّسَاءُ قُعُودٌ عِنْدَهُ فَقَالَ: " لَعَلَّ رَجُلًا يَقُولُ: مَا يَفْعَلُ بِأَهْلِهِ، وَلَعَلَّ امْرَأَةً تُخْبِرُ بِمَا فَعَلَتْ مَعَ زَوْجِهَا فَأَرَمَّ الْقَوْمُ " فَقُلْتُ: إِي وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُنَّ لَيَقُلْنَ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَفْعَلُونَ، ، قَالَ: " فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا فَإِنَّمَا مِثْلُ (١) ذَلِكَ مِثْلُ الشَّيْطَانُ (٢) لَقِيَ شَيْطَانَةً فِي طَرِيقٍ فَغَشِيَهَا وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ " (٣)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that once she was present in the service of the Prophet (ﷺ), and at that time many men and women were gathered around the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "It may happen that in a certain era, men will begin to tell what they do with their wives, and women will begin to tell what they do with their husbands?" The people remained silent at this, so I said: O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, women do say such things and men also describe them. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "But you should not do so, because its example is like a devil meeting a she-devil on the road and committing adultery with her in front of the people."

حَدَّثَنَا أَزْهَرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ (٤) ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو،، ، أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَتْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ تَحَلَّتْ قِلَادَةً مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، جُعِلَ فِي عُنُقِهَا مِثْلُهَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ جَعَلَتْ فِي أُذُنِهَا خُرْصًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، جُعِلَ فِي أُذُنِهَا مِثْلُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " (١)،

حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ يَعْنِى ابْنَ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ الْمُهَاجِرِ، مَوْلَى أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ، تَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ سِرًّا، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّهُ لَيُدْرِكُ الْفَارِسَ، فَيُدَعْثِرُهُ " قَالَ (٢) : قُلْتُ: مَا تَعْنِي؟ (٣) قَالَ: " الْغِيلَةُ، يَأْتِي الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ تُرْضِعُ " (٤)، •

It is narrated from Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: "Do not secretly kill your children, for as a result of intimacy with the wife during the period of breastfeeding, when the nursing child grows up, the horse throws him off its back (he cannot sit firmly on the horse)."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ حَمَّادَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، وَذَكَرَ الْجَهْمِيَّةَ فَقَالَ: "، ، إِنَّمَا يُحَاوِلُونَ أَنْ لَيْسَ فِي السَّمَاءِ شَيْءٌ " (١)،

Hammad bin Zaid, while mentioning the Jahmiyyah sect once, said that these people say among themselves that there is nothing in the sky.

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تُوُفِّيَ يَوْمَ تُوُفِّيَ، وَدِرْعُهُ مَرْهُونَةٌ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ بِوَسْقٍ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that at the time of the Prophet's (ﷺ) passing, his cloak was mortgaged with a Jew in exchange for a wasq of barley.

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَهْرٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ: أَنَّ أَبَا ذَرٍّ الْغِفَارِيَّ كَانَ يَخْدُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ خِدْمَتِهِ، آوَى إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، فَكَانَ هُوَ بَيْتُهُ، يَضْطَجِعُ فِيهِ، فَدَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْجِدَ لَيْلَةً، فَوَجَدَ أَبَا ذَرٍّ نَائِمًا مُنْجَدِلًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَنَكَتَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرِجْلِهِ حَتَّى اسْتَوَى جَالِسًا، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَلَا أَرَاكَ نَائِمًا؟ " قَالَ: أَبُو ذَرٍّ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَأَيْنَ أَنَامُ، هَلْ لِي مِنْ بَيْتٍ غَيْرُهُ؟ فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ: " كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا أَخْرَجُوكَ مِنْهُ؟ " قَالَ: إِذَنْ أَلْحَقَ بِالشَّامِ، فَإِنَّ الشَّامَ أَرْضُ الْهِجْرَةِ، وَأَرْضُ الْمَحْشَرِ، وَأَرْضُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ، فَأَكُونُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِهَا، قَالَ لَهُ: " كَيْفَ أَنْتَ إِذَا أَخْرَجُوكَ مِنَ الشَّامِ؟ " قَالَ: إِذَنْ أَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ، فَيَكُونَ هُوَ بَيْتِي وَمَنْزِلِي، قَالَ: " فَكَيْفَ (١) أَنْتَ إِذَا أَخْرَجُوكَ مِنْهُ الثَّانِيَةَ؟ " قَالَ: إِذَنْ آخُذَ سَيْفِي، فَأُقَاتِلَ عَنِّي حَتَّى أَمُوتَ، قَالَ: فَكَشَّرَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَثْبَتَهُ بِيَدِهِ، قَالَ: " أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى خَيْرٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ؟ " قَالَ: بَلَى، بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، قَالَ رَسُولُ، ، اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " تَنْقَادُ لَهُمْ حَيْثُ قَادُوكَ، وَتَنْسَاقُ لَهُمْ حَيْثُ سَاقُوكَ حَتَّى تَلْقَانِي، وَأَنْتَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ " (١)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) with reference to Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that I used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When I finished my work, I would come and lie down in the mosque. One day, while I was lying down, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came and nudged me with his blessed foot. I sat up straight. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O Abu Dharr! What will you do when you are expelled from Madinah?" I replied: I will return to the Prophet's Mosque and my house. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "And when you are expelled from there as well, what will you do?" I replied: I will go to Syria, which is the land of migration, the land of resurrection, and the land of the Prophets. I will take up residence there. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you are expelled from there as well, what will you do?" I replied: I will go back there again. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: "If you are expelled from there again?" I replied: At that time, I will take up my sword and whoever tries to expel me, I will strike him with my sword. Upon hearing this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his blessed hand on my shoulder and said three times: "Abu Dharr! Be forgiving, go wherever they take you, even if your ruler is an Abyssinian slave, until you meet me in this state."

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرٌ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةَ، تُحَدِّثُ، زَعَمَتْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَوْمًا، وَعُصْبَةٌ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ قُعُودٌ، فَأَلْوَى بِيَدِهِ إِلَيْهِنَّ بِالسَّلَامِ، قَالَ: " إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَانَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ، إِيَّاكُنَّ وَكُفْرَانَ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ " قَالَتْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ (٢) اللهِ، قَالَ: " بَلَى، إِنَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ تَطُولُ، ، أَيْمَتُهَا، وَيَطُولُ تَعْنِيسُهَا، ثُمَّ يُزَوِّجُهَا اللهُ الْبَعْلَ، وَيُفِيدُهَا الْوَلَدَ، وَقُرَّةَ الْعَيْنِ، ثُمَّ تَغْضَبُ الْغَضْبَةَ، فَتُقْسِمُ بِاللهِ مَا رَأَتْ مِنْهُ سَاعَةً خَيْرًا (١) قَطُّ، فَذَلِكَ مِنْ كُفْرَانِ نِعَمِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَذَلِكَ (٢) مِنْ كُفْرَانِ الْمُنَعَّمِينَ " (٣)،

Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her), who belonged to Banu Abdul-Ashhal, says that once the Prophet (ﷺ) passed by us while we were with some women. The Prophet (ﷺ) greeted us with salam and said: "Protect yourselves from being ungrateful to those who do good to you." We asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by being ungrateful to those who do good? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "It may be that one of you stays at her parents' home for a long time waiting for a proposal, then Allah grants her a husband and also grants her wealth and property through him, and then one day, in anger, she says: 'I have never seen any good from you.'"

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ سَكَنٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " لَا تَقْتُلُوا أَوْلَادَكُمْ سِرًّا، فَإِنَّ الْغَيْلَ يُدْرِكُ الْفَارِسَ فَيُدَعْثِرُهُ مِنْ فَوْقِ فَرَسِهِ " قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةُ قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ (٤) مِثْلَهُ (٥)،

It is narrated from Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Do not secretly kill your children, for as a result of intimacy with the wife during the period of breastfeeding, when the suckling child grows up, the horse throws him off its back (he cannot sit firmly on the horse).

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ،، ، أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ بْنِ السَّكَنِ، إِحْدَى (١) نِسَاءِ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ، دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا يَوْمًا، فَقَرَّبَتْ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامًا، فَقَالَ: " لَا أَشْتَهِيهِ "، فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي قَيَّنْتُ عَائِشَةَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ جِئْتُهُ، فَدَعَوْتُهُ (٢) لِجِلْوَتِهَا، فَجَاءَ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَى جَنْبِهَا، فَأُتِيَ بِعُسِّ لَبَنٍ، فَشَرِبَ ثُمَّ نَاوَلَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَخَفَضَتْ رَأْسَهَا وَاسْتَحْيَتْ. قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ: فَانْتَهَرْتُهَا وَقُلْتُ لَهَا: خُذِي مِنْ يَدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: فَأَخَذَتْ، فَشَرِبَتْ شَيْئًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَعْطِي تِرْبَكِ " قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، بَلْ خُذْهُ، فَاشْرَبْ مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ نَاوِلْنِيهِ مِنْ يَدِكَ، فَأَخَذَهُ، فَشَرِبَ مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ نَاوَلَنِيهِ، قَالَتْ: فَجَلَسْتُ، ثُمَّ وَضَعْتُهُ عَلَى رُكْبَتِي، ثُمَّ طَفِقْتُ أُدِيرُهُ، وَأَتْبَعُهُ بِشَفَتَيَّ لِأُصِيبَ مِنْهُ مَشْرَبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِنِسْوَةٍ عِنْدِي: " نَاوِلِيهِنَّ " فَقُلْنَ: لَا نَشْتَهِيهِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَجْمَعْنَ جُوعًا وَكَذِبًا " فَهَلْ أَنْتَ مُنْتَهٍ أَنْ تَقُولَ (٣) : لَا أَشْتَهِيهِ؟ فَقُلْتُ: أَيْ أُمَّهْ، لَا أَعُودُ أَبَدًا (٤)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was the one who prepared Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and presented her to the Prophet (ﷺ). There were some other women with me as well. A bowl of milk was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ), which he first drank himself, then handed the bowl to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). She felt shy. We said to her, "Do not return the Prophet’s (ﷺ) hand, rather take the bowl." So, feeling shy, she took the bowl and drank a little milk from it. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Give it to me." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) drank again and handed it to me. I sat down and placed the bowl on my knee and began to turn it so that I could find the place where the Prophet (ﷺ) had placed his lips. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Give it to your companions." We said, "We do not desire it." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not combine hunger and falsehood. Will you refrain now or not?" I said, "Mother! I will never do it again."

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: " نَزَلَتْ سُورَةُ الْمَائِدَةِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَمِيعًا، إِنْ كَادَتْ مِنْ ثِقَلِهَا لَتَكْسِرُ النَّاقَةَ " (١)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that when Surah Al-Ma'idah was completely revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ), I was holding the rein of his she-camel "Adba’", and due to the weight of the revelation, it felt as if the foreleg of the camel would break.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَهْرَامَ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ ارْتَبَطَ فَرَسًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، وَأَنْفَقَ عَلَيْهِ احْتِسَابًا، كَانَ شِبَعُهُ وَجُوعُهُ وَرِيُّهُ، وَظَمَؤُهُ، وَبَوْلُهُ، وَرَوْثُهُ، فِي مِيزَانِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَمَنْ، ، ارْتَبَطَ فَرَسًا رِيَاءً وَسُمْعَةً، كَانَ ذَلِكَ خُسْرَانًا فِي مِيزَانِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever keeps horses as equipment in the way of Allah and spends on them with the intention of reward, then their being full or hungry, quenched or thirsty, and even their dung and urine will become a cause of success for him in his record of deeds on the Day of Judgment. And whoever keeps those horses for show, pride, and arrogance, then their being full or hungry, quenched or thirsty, and their dung and urine will become a cause of loss for him in his record of deeds on the Day of Judgment.”

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَهْرَامَ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِنِّي لَسْتُ أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I do not shake hands with women."

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِىِّ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: " سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ:، ، (إِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صَالِحٍ) " [هود: ٤٦] (١) .،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting this verse in this manner: « إِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صَالِحٍ ».

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ: {يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا} [الزمر: ٥٣] عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا، " وَلَا يُبَالِي "، {إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ} (٢) [يوسف: ٩٨]،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting this verse in this manner: « يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا [سورة الزمر آية 53] وَلَا يُبَالِي, إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ».

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَا يَصْلُحُ الْكَذِبُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ: كَذِبُ الرَّجُلِ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ لِتَرْضَى عَنْهُ، أَوْ كَذِبٌ فِي الْحَرْبِ، فَإِنَّ الْحَرْبَ خَدْعَةٌ، أَوْ كَذِبٌ فِي إِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Lying is not permissible in any situation except in three cases: one, a man who lies to please his wife; second, a man who lies in war; third, a man who lies to reconcile between two Muslims."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: كُنَّا فِيمَنْ جَهَّزَ عَائِشَةَ وَزَفَّهَا قَالَتْ: فَعَرَضَ عَلَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَبَنًا، فَقُلْنَا: لَا نُرِيدُهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَجْمَعْنَ جُوعًا وَكَذِبًا " (١)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that she was the one who prepared Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and presented her to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) offered us a bowl of milk; so we said that we did not desire it. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do not combine hunger and falsehood."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخِيَارِكُمْ " قَالُوا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ: " الَّذِينَ إِذَا رُؤُوا، ذُكِرَ اللهُ تَعَالَى " ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشِرَارِكُمْ؟ الْمَشَّاءُونَ بِالنَّمِيمَةِ، الْمُفْسِدُونَ بَيْنَ الْأَحِبَّةِ، الْبَاغُونَ لِلْبُرَآءِ الْعَنَتَ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Shall I not tell you about the best among you?" The people said: "Why not, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Those people who, when you see them, remind you of Allah." Then he said: "Shall I not tell you about the worst among you? They are those who go about carrying tales, sow discord among friends, are rebellious, hateful, and bigoted people."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " يَمْكُثُ الدَّجَّالُ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، السَّنَةُ كَالشَّهْرِ، وَالشَّهْرُ كَالْجُمُعَةِ، وَالْجُمُعَةُ كَالْيَوْمِ، وَالْيَوْمُ كَاضْطِرَامِ السَّعَفَةِ فِي النَّارِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The Dajjal will remain on the earth for forty years; one of his years will be like a month, one month like a week, one week like a day, and one day will be like the flicker of a spark."

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "، ، أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخِيَارِكُمْ؟ " قَالُوا: بَلَى قَالَ: " فَخِيَارُكُمُ الَّذِينَ إِذَا رُؤُوا، ذُكِرَ اللهُ تَعَالَى، أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِشِرَارِكُمْ؟ " قَالُوا: بَلَى قَالَ: " فَشِرَارُكُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ بَيْنَ الْأَحِبَّةِ، الْمَشَّاءُونَ بِالنَّمِيمَةِ، الْبَاغُونَ (١) الْبُرَآءَ الْعَنَتَ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Shall I not tell you about the best among you?" The people said: "Why not, O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Those people who, when you see them, remind you of Allah." Then he said: "Shall I not tell you about the worst among you? They are those who go about carrying tales, sow discord among friends, are rebellious, hateful, and bigoted people."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَلِيلِ الْقَيْسِيُّ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ يَزِيدَ، كَانَتْ تَخْدُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: فَبَيْنَمَا أَنَا عِنْدَهُ إِذْ جَاءَتْهُ خَالَتِي، قَالَتْ: فَجَعَلَتْ تُسَائِلُهُ وَعَلَيْهَا سِوَارَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَقَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَيَسُرُّكَ أَنَّ عَلَيْكِ سِوَارَيْنِ مِنْ نَارٍ؟ " قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا خَالَتِي (٣) ، إِنَّمَا يَعْنِي (٤) سِوَارَيْكِ هَذَيْنِ، قَالَتْ: فَأَلْقَتْهُمَا، قَالَتْ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، إِنَّهُنَّ إِذَا لَمْ يَتَحَلَّيْنَ (٥) ، صَلِفْنَ عِنْدَ أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ، فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَقَالَ: " أَمَا تَسْتَطِيعُ إِحْدَاكُنَّ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ طَوْقًا (٦) مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، وَجُمَانَةً مِنْ فِضَّةٍ،، ، ثُمَّ تُخَلِّقَهُ بِزَعْفَرَانٍ، فَيَكُونُ كَأَنَّهُ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَإِنَّهُ (١) مَنْ تَحَلَّى وَزْنَ عَيْنِ جَرَادَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، أَوْ خَرْبَصِيصَةٍ (٢) كُوِيَ بِهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " (٣)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) gathered the Muslim women for allegiance (bay‘ah). Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah! Why do you not extend your hand for us? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “I do not shake hands with women, but I take the pledge verbally.” Among those women was an aunt of Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) who was wearing gold bangles and gold rings. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “O woman! Do you like that Allah, the Exalted, should make you wear bangles and rings of fire on the Day of Resurrection?” She said: O Messenger of Allah! I seek refuge with Allah from that. I said to my aunt: Aunt! Take them off and throw them away. So she took them off and threw them away. I do not remember who picked them up from their place, nor did any of us even glance at them. Then I said: O Messenger of Allah! If a woman does not adorn herself with jewelry, she becomes insignificant in the eyes of her husband? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There is no harm for you in making earrings of silver and having pearls set in them, and filling their holes with a little saffron, so that they shine like gold.”

حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ الدَّبَّاغُ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ، لَمْ يَرْضَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً، فَإِنْ مَاتَ، مَاتَ كَافِرًا، وَإِنْ تَابَ، تَابَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ، وَإِنْ عَادَ، كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يَسْقِيَهُ مِنْ طِينَةِ الْخَبَالِ " قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَمَا طِينَةُ الْخَبَالِ؟ قَالَ: " صَدِيدُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ " (٤)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that she heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: Whoever drinks alcohol, Allah remains displeased with him for forty days. If he dies in that state, he dies as a disbeliever, and if he repents, Allah accepts his repentance. But if he drinks alcohol again, it is incumbent upon Allah to make him drink the water of « طِينَةِ الْخَبَالِ ». I asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is « طِينَةِ الْخَبَالِ »? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: "The pus of the people of Hell."

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ، قَالَتْ: انْطَلَقْتُ مَعَ خَالَتِي إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي يَدِهَا سِوَارَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ - أَوْ قَالَتْ: قُلْبَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ - فَقَالَ لِي: " أَيَسُرُّكِ أَنْ يُجْعَلَ فِي يَدِكِ سِوَارَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ؟ " فَقُلْتُ لَهَا: يَا، ، خَالَتِي، أَمَا (١) تَسْمَعِينَ مَا يَقُولُ؟ قَالَتْ: وَمَا يَقُولُ؟ قُلْتُ: يَقُولُ: " أَيَسُرُّكِ أَنْ يُجْعَلَ فِي يَدَيْكِ (٢) سِوَارَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ - أَوْ قَالَ: قُلْبَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ -؟، " قَالَتْ: فَانْتَزَعَتْهُمَا، فَرَمَتْ بِهِمَا، فَلَمْ (٣) أَدْرِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَخَذَهُمَا؟ (٤)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that once I went to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) with my maternal aunt. She was wearing gold bangles and gold rings. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "O woman! Do you like that Allah, the Exalted, should make you wear bangles and rings of fire on the Day of Resurrection?" She replied: O Messenger of Allah! I seek refuge with Allah from this. I said to my aunt: Aunt! Take them off and throw them away. So she took them off and threw them away. I do not remember who picked them up from their place.

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " أَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ تَقَلَّدَتْ بِقِلَادَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، قُلِّدَتْ مِثْلَهَا مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَأَيُّمَا امْرَأَةٍ جَعَلَتْ فِي أُذُنِهَا خُرْصًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، جُعِلَ فِي أُذُنِهَا مِثْلُهُ مِنَ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " (٥)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The woman who wears a gold necklace, on the Day of Resurrection a similar necklace of fire will be put around her neck, and the woman who wears gold earrings, similar earrings of fire will be put in her ears on the Day of Resurrection."

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ (١) ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَقْرَأُ: (إِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صَالِحٍ) ، وَسَمِعَتْهُ يَقْرَأُ: (يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا وَلَا يُبَالِي) (٢) " (٣)،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reciting this verse in this way: « إِنَّهُ عَمِلَ غَيْرَ صَالِحٍ » and I heard him reciting this verse in this way: « يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ لا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا [سورة الزمر آية 53] وَلَا يُبَالِي ، إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ».

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ (٤) ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ الْقَدَّاحُ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: {لِإِيلَافِ قُرَيْشٍ، إِيلَافِهِمْ رِحْلَةَ الشِّتَاءِ وَالصَّيْفِ} [قريش: ٢] " وَيْحَكُمْ يَا قُرَيْشُ، اعْبُدُوا رَبَّ هَذَا الْبَيْتِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَكُمْ مِنْ جُوعٍ، وَآمَنَكُمْ مِنْ خَوْفٍ " (٥)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that once the Prophet (ﷺ) recited Surah Quraysh and said: "O people of Quraysh! Worship the Lord of this House, Who fed you in hunger and granted you security in fear."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو (١) أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَصْلُحُ الْكَذِبُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ: كَذِبِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ لِيُرْضِيَهَا، أَوْ إِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، أَوْ كَذِبٍ فِي الْحَرْبِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Lying is not permissible in any case, except in three situations: one, a man who lies to please his wife; second, a man who lies in war; third, a man who lies to reconcile between two Muslims."

حَدَّثَنَا عَارِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنْ ذَبَّ عَنْ لَحْمِ أَخِيهِ بِالْغِيبَةِ (١) ، كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُعْتِقَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever defends the honor of his Muslim brother, it is incumbent upon Allah to free him from the fire of Hell on the Day of Resurrection."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ ذَبَّ عَنْ لَحْمِ أَخِيهِ فِي الْغِيبَةِ (١) ، كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللهِ أَنْ يُعْتِقَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever defends the honor of his Muslim brother, it is incumbent upon Allah to free him from the fire of Hell on the Day of Resurrection."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شَهْرُ بْنُ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " فِي هَذه (٣) الْآيَتَيْنِ {اللهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ} [البقرة: ٢٥٥] وَ {الم اللهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ} [آل عمران: ٢] إِنَّ فِيهِمَا اسْمَ اللهِ الْأَعْظَمَ " (٤)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying regarding Ayat al-Kursi and the first verse of Surah Al-Imran that the Greatest Name of Allah (Ism-e-Azam) is present in these two verses.

حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ يَعْنِي الْعَطَّارَ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنْ بَنَى لِلَّهِ مَسْجِدًا، فَإِنَّ اللهَ يَبْنِي لَهُ بَيْتًا أَوْسَعَ مِنْهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever builds a mosque for Allah, Allah Almighty builds for him a house in Paradise more spacious than it."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ، أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ: {إِنَّ اللهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا} [الزمر: ٥٣] " وَلَا يُبَالِي " {إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ} (١) [الزمر: ٥٣]،

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) reciting this verse in this manner: « إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا وَلا يُبَالِي إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ ».

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَخَالَتِي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهَا أَسْوِرَةٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَقَالَ لَنَا: " أَتُعْطِيَانِ زَكَاتَهُ؟ " قَالَتْ: فَقُلْنَا: لَا، قَالَ: " أَمَا تَخَافَانِ أَنْ يُسَوِّرَكُمَا اللهُ أَسْوِرَةً مِنْ نَارٍ؟ أَدِّيَا زَكَاتَهُ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that I came to the service of the Prophet (ﷺ) to pledge allegiance. When I approached the Prophet (ﷺ), his gaze fell upon the two bangles I was wearing. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do you pay zakat on these?" We replied: "No." The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do you not fear that Allah may make you wear two bangles of fire in exchange for them? Pay their zakat."
