حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَا يَصْلُحُ الْكَذِبُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ: كَذِبُ الرَّجُلِ مَعَ امْرَأَتِهِ لِتَرْضَى عَنْهُ، أَوْ كَذِبٌ فِي الْحَرْبِ، فَإِنَّ الْحَرْبَ خَدْعَةٌ، أَوْ كَذِبٌ فِي إِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ " (٣)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Lying is not permissible in any situation except in three cases: one, a man who lies to please his wife; second, a man who lies in war; third, a man who lies to reconcile between two Muslims."
