حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو (١) أَحْمَدَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَصْلُحُ الْكَذِبُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ: كَذِبِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ لِيُرْضِيَهَا، أَوْ إِصْلَاحٍ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ، أَوْ كَذِبٍ فِي الْحَرْبِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Asma (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Lying is not permissible in any case, except in three situations: one, a man who lies to please his wife; second, a man who lies in war; third, a man who lies to reconcile between two Muslims."
