حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، وَعَفَّانُ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْجِعِرَّانَةِ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَذَرْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَنْ أَعْتَكِفَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ؟ - قَالَ عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ: - وَمَعَهُ غُلَامٌ مِنْ سَبْيِ هَوَازِنَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: " اذْهَبْ فَاعْتَكِفْ "، فَذَهَبَ، فَاعْتَكَفَ (٥) ، فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ يُصَلِّي، ، إِذْ سَمِعَ النَّاسَ، يَقُولُونَ: أَعْتَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْيَ هَوَازِنَ فَدَعَا الْغُلَامَ فَأَعْتَقَهُ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that at Ji‘irrana, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Noble Prophet (ﷺ): "In the days of ignorance, I had made a vow to perform i‘tikaf in Masjid al-Haram.?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) ordered him to fulfill his vow, so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) set out from there. While he was still praying, he heard people saying that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) had freed the captives of Hawazin, so he also freed his own slave.
