Translation

English translation

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) would sometimes be fasting and would send for the food for iftar to be brought to him. The food would be presented before him when the Maghrib adhan had already been called, the prayer would be established, and the call would still be ongoing in his ears, but he would not leave his food and would not hurry before finishing. Then he would go out and perform the prayer and would say that Allah’s Prophet (ﷺ) said: “When the evening meal is presented before you, do not turn away from it and hasten (to prayer).”
