Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once, along with some of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), among whom was Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) passed by Ibn Sayyad. At that time, he was playing with children near the mounds of Banu Maghalah, and he himself was also a child. He did not know of the coming of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) until the Prophet (ﷺ) struck his hand on his back and said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" Ibn Sayyad looked up at the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "I bear witness that you are the Messenger of the unlettered ones." Then Ibn Sayyad said to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "I believe in Allah and His Messengers." Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked him, "What comes to you?" He said, "A truthful one and a liar come to me." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The matter has become confused for you." Then he said: "I have hidden something in my heart for you, tell me what it is?" (The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) had hidden in his mind the Qur'anic verse: 'The Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke.') Ibn Sayyad said, "It is smoke." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Be off! You cannot go beyond your status." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to strike his neck?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "If he is the same Dajjal, you will not be given power over him, and if he is not that Dajjal, then what benefit is there in killing him?"
