حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا صَخْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جُوَيْرِيَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالنَّاسِ عَامَ تَبُوكَ نَزَلَ بِهِمُ الْحِجْرَ عِنْدَ بُيُوتِ ثَمُودَ، فَاسْتَسْقَى (٣) النَّاسُ مِنَ الْآبَارِ الَّتِي كَانَ يَشْرَبُ (٤) مِنْهَا ثَمُودُ، فَعَجَنُوا مِنْهَا، وَنَصَبُوا الْقُدُورَ بِاللَّحْمِ فَأَمَرَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَهَرَاقُوا (٥) الْقُدُورَ، وَعَلَفُوا الْعَجِينَ الْإِبِلَ، ثُمَّ ارْتَحَلَ بِهِمْ حَتَّى نَزَلَ بِهِمْ عَلَى الْبِئْرِ الَّتِي كَانَتْ تَشْرَبُ مِنْهَا، ، النَّاقَةُ، وَنَهَاهُمْ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ عُذِّبُوا قَالَ (١) : " إِنِّي أَخْشَى أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمْ مِثْلُ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ، فَلَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that in the year of the Battle of Tabuk, the Prophet (ﷺ) camped with his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) near the ruins and houses of the destroyed people of Thamud. The people drank water from the wells from which the people of Thamud used to drink, kneaded dough with it, and even put meat in pots to cook. When the Prophet (ﷺ) found out, he ordered the people to overturn the pots and feed the kneaded dough to the camels. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) moved on from there and camped at the well from which the she-camel of Salih (peace be upon him) used to drink water. The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade entering the ruins of the punished people and said: "I fear that the same punishment may befall you as befell them, so do not go there."
