Musnad Ahmad Hadith 5982

Abdul Wahid Banani, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I was with Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both. A man came to him and said, "O Abu Abdur Rahman! I am buying these gardens, and there will be grapes in them. Can we not sell only the grapes until we squeeze them?" Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: "It is as if you are asking me about the price of wine. I will narrate to you a hadith which I heard from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Once we were sitting with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, when suddenly he raised his head towards the sky, then lowered it and began to scratch the ground, and said: 'Destruction is for the Children of Israel.' Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said, 'O Messenger of Allah! We have become anxious after hearing this from you about the Children of Israel.' The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'It will not harm you. The real matter is that when fat was made unlawful for the Children of Israel, they unanimously agreed to sell it and began to eat its price. In the same way, the price of wine is also unlawful for you.'"
