Bakr says that once I mentioned to Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) has narrated to us this hadith that the Prophet (ﷺ) assumed ihram for both Hajj and Umrah? He replied that Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) is mistaken; the Prophet (ﷺ) initially assumed ihram for Hajj, and we also assumed ihram for Hajj with him. Then when the Prophet (ﷺ) reached Makkah, he said: "Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him should make it Umrah." I conveyed this to Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: "You consider us to be mere children."
