Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ فِرَاسٍ، سَمِعْتُ ذَكْوَانَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ زَاذَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ ضَرَبَ غُلَامًا لَهُ حَدًّا لَمْ يَأْتِهِ أَوْ لَطَمَهُ، فَإِنَّ كَفَّارَتَهُ أَنْ يُعْتِقَهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: Whoever punishes his slave for a crime he did not commit, or slaps him, its expiation is that he should set him free.
