حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ، سَمِعْتُ مُسْلِمَ بْنَ يَنَّاقٍ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَجُلًا يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ فَقَالَ: مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ؟ (٦) فَانْتَسَبَ لَهُ، (٧) فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي لَيْثٍ فَعَرَفَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأُذُنَيَّ هَاتَيْنِ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ لَا يُرِيدُ، ، بِذَلِكَ إِلَّا الْمَخِيلَةَ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ تَعَالَى لَا يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Muslim bin Yanaq (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw a man dragging his lower garment. He asked him, "Where are you from?" The man mentioned his lineage, and it became clear that he was from Banu Laith, and Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) recognized him. Then he said, "I heard with my own two ears the Prophet (ﷺ) saying: Whoever drags his clothes on the ground out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection."
