Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا (٣) مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ (٤) يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، وَيُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ " (٥)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray in sets of two rak‘ahs, then in the last part of the night he would add one rak‘ah to them and thus perform (three) witr.
