حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي الْمُطَّلِبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، " كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً وَيُسْنِدُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " وَأَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ " كَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا وَيُسْنِدُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " (٢)،

Translation

English translation

Matlab bin Abdullah says that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to wash the limbs of wudu three times and attributed this to the Prophet (ﷺ), whereas Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to wash them once and he too attributed this to the Prophet (ﷺ).
