Translation

English translation

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) used to criticize those women who would present themselves before the Prophet (ﷺ), and her opinion was that a woman should feel ashamed to present herself without a dowry. Upon this, the verse was revealed: "You may defer whom you wish of them and take to yourself whom you wish." So Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said, "I see that your Lord hastens to fulfill your desires."
