حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّفِيرَاءِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَوْ كَانَ عِنْدَنَا سَعَةٌ لَهَدَمْتُ الْكَعْبَةَ وَلَبَنَيْنَاهَا، وَلَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ: بَابًا يَدْخُلُ النَّاسُ مِنْهُ، وَبَابًا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْهُ " قَالَتْ: فَلَمَّا وَلِيَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ هَدَمَهَا، فَجَعَلَ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ، قَالَتْ: فَكَانَتْ كَذَلِكَ، فَلَمَّا ظَهَرَ الْحَجَّاجُ عَلَيْهِ هَدَمَهَا، وَأَعَادَ بِنَاءَهَا الْأَوَّلَ (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: If I had the opportunity, I would demolish the Kaaba and rebuild it from the beginning, and I would make two doors for it—people would enter from one door and exit from the other. Then, when Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) was appointed as caliph, he demolished the building and made its doors, and the construction remained in that way. Then, when Hajjaj bin Yusuf overpowered him, he demolished the Kaaba again and returned it to its previous construction.
