Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زَحْرٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ قَالَ: " مَنْ بَدَأَ بِالسَّلَامِ فَهُوَ أَوْلَى بِاللهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِ (١) " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Whoever initiates the greeting of peace is closer to Allah and His Messenger.
