حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ حَزْمٍ دُعِيَ لِامْرَأَةٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ لَدَغَتْهَا حَيَّةٌ لَيَرْقِيَهَا، فَأَبَى، فَأُخْبِرَ بِذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَاهُ، فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّكَ تَزْجُرُ عَنِ الرُّقَى، فَقَالَ: " اقْرَأْهَا عَلَيَّ " فَقَرَأَهَا عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا بَأْسَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ مَوَاثِيقُ فَارْقِ بِهَا " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman in Madinah Munawwarah was bitten by a snake. People called Amr bin Hazm so that he could perform ruqyah (incantation) for her, but he refused. When the Prophet (ﷺ) came to know of this, he called Amr. He said, "O Messenger of Allah! You prohibit incantations." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Recite your incantation before me." He recited it, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "There is no harm in this; you may perform ruqyah for them."
