حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءٌ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ (٣) مُصْعَبٍ: عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: كَانَتْ لِرِجَالٍ فُضُولُ أَرَضِينَ، فَكَانُوا يُؤَاجِرُونَهَا عَلَى الثُّلُثِ وَالرُّبُعِ وَالنِّصْفِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْضٌ فَلْيَزْرَعْهَا، أَوْ لِيَمْنَحْهَا أَخَاهُ، فَإِنْ أَبَى فَلْيُمْسِكْ أَرْضَهُ " (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people had more land than they needed, so they would lease it out for a third, a quarter, or half of the produce. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Whoever has land should cultivate it himself or give it as a gift to his brother, otherwise he should keep his land with himself.
