حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مِقْسَمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَمَرَّتْ، ، بِنَا جَنَازَةٌ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقُمْنَا مَعَهُ، فَلَمَّا ذَهَبْنَا (١) لِنَحْمِلَهَا إِذَا هِيَ جَنَازَةُ يَهُودِيَّةٍ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهَا جَنَازَةُ يَهُودِيَّةٍ قَالَ: " إِنَّ لِلْمَوْتِ فَزَعًا، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ الْجِنَازَةَ، فَقُومُوا لَهَا " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a funeral passed by the Prophet (ﷺ), so he stood up and we also stood up. When we went to carry it on our shoulders, we found out that it was the funeral of a Jewish woman. Upon this, we said: O Messenger of Allah! This is the funeral of a Jewish woman. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: Death is a distressing matter, so whenever you see a funeral, stand up.
