حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ، مَوْلَى أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ عُرْفُطَةَ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَارْتَفَعَتْ رِيحُ جِيفَةٍ مُنْتِنَةٍ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَتَدْرُونَ مَا هَذِهِ الرِّيحُ؟ هَذِهِ رِيحُ الَّذِينَ يَغْتَابُونَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were with the Prophet (ﷺ) when the stench of a dead animal arose. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Do you know what this smell is? This is the smell of those who backbite the believers."
