Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in the year of the conquest of Makkah saying: Allah Almighty and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have declared the sale of alcohol, carrion, swine, and idols to be forbidden. Someone asked: O Messenger of Allah! Tell us, what is the ruling regarding the fat of a dead animal? For it is used to oil ships, it is applied to hides, and people use it to light lamps. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied: (No, that too is forbidden, then he said:) May Allah curse the Jews; when Allah forbade them the fat, they melted it, sold it, and consumed its price.
