حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ جَارِيَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ: " أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِكِلَابِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنْ تُقْتَلَ، فَجَاءَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ مَنْزِلِي شَاسِعٌ، وَلِي كَلْبٌ، فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ أَيَّامًا، ثُمَّ أَمَرَ فَقُتِلَ (٢) كَلْبِهِ " (٣)،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered that all the dogs in Madinah Munawwarah be killed. Upon this, Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum came and said, "My house is far and I have a dog." The Prophet (ﷺ) granted him permission for a few days, and then also ordered him to kill his dog.
