حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ عُثْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " احْتَجَّتِ الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ، فَقَالَتِ النَّارُ: فِيَّ الْجَبَّارُونَ وَالْمُتَكَبِّرُونَ، وَقَالَتِ الْجَنَّةُ: فِيَّ ضُعَفَاءُ النَّاسِ وَمَسَاكِينُهُمْ، قَالَ: فَقَضَى بَيْنَهُمَا، إِنَّكِ الْجَنَّةُ رَحْمَتِي أَرْحَمُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ، وَإِنَّكِ النَّارُ عَذَابِي أُعَذِّبُ بِكِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ، وَلِكِلَاكُمَا عَلَيَّ مِلْؤُهَا " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Once Paradise and Hell had a mutual discussion. Paradise said, "O Lord! What is my fault that only the poor and lowly people will enter me?" And Hell said, "What is my fault that only the tyrants and arrogant people will enter me?" Allah said to Hell, "You are My punishment; I will punish with you whomever I wish." And He said to Paradise, "You are My mercy; I will show mercy through you to whomever I wish." And I will fill both of you.
