Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: In the state of Ihram, one may kill a snake, a scorpion, a mouse, and a rabid dog. (In this hadith, the word "Fuwaisiqah" is used for the mouse.) The narrator says: I asked about the meaning of Fuwaisiqah, and he replied: It means mouse. I asked: What is the issue with the mouse? He replied: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke up and a mouse took the wick of the lamp and climbed onto the roof to set it on fire (since then it has been called Fuwaisiqah).
