حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ، أَخْبَرَنَا دَاوُدُ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا بِأَرْضٍ مُضِبَّةٍ، فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا؟ قَالَ: " بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ أُمَّةً مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مُسِخَتْ دَوَابَّ (١) ، فَلَا أَدْرِي، أَيُّ الدَّوَابِّ هِيَ؟ " قَالَ: فَلَمْ يَأْمُرْ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man asked in the court of the Prophet, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! There is an abundance of lizards in our area, what command do you give us regarding this?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "It has been mentioned before me that a group among the Children of Israel was transformed, but I do not know which animal it was." And the Prophet (ﷺ) neither commanded to eat it nor forbade it.
