Below: the meaning of Al-‘Aleem and Al-Khabeer, the seven clearest Quran verses on Allah’s knowledge (including Ayat al-Kursi and the “keys of the unseen”), the canonical hadith on saying Allahu A’lam, the full quote collection, five moments to remember “Allah knows” in your day, and a short FAQ.

What “Allah knows” means in Islam (Al-‘Aleem & Al-Khabeer)
Two of Allah’s names speak directly to His knowledge:
- Al-‘Aleem (الْعَلِيم) — The All-Knowing. The breadth of Allah’s knowledge: He knows everything that exists, has existed, or ever will exist; the seen and the unseen; the past, present, and future together.
- Al-Khabeer (الْخَبِير) — The All-Aware. The depth of Allah’s knowledge: He knows the inner reality, the unspoken motive, the heart behind every action.
Together they teach the believer that Allah sees both what you do and why you do it — the public deed and the private niyyah. This is why the dhikr “Allahu A’lam” (“Allah knows best”) is more than a phrase: it is the daily acknowledgement that knowledge belongs ultimately to Allah, not to us.

5 moments to remember “Allah knows” each day
- When your dua feels unanswered. Allah heard the first word; He knows the timing better than you do. Quran 2:216 reminds: “You may dislike a thing while it is good for you.”
- When you do good and no one notices. Quran 50:16 promises Allah is “closer than the jugular vein.” Your unseen sadaqah, your patience with a difficult parent, your forgiven slight — all recorded.
- When someone wrongs you and walks away. Quran 21:47 promises the scales of justice on the Day of Judgment, “not a date stone hidden inside” will go missed. Trust the record.
- When you feel ashamed of a private struggle. Allah already knows. Repent, ask, and trust His mercy — Surah Az-Zumar 39:53: “Do not despair of Allah’s mercy.”
- When you are uncertain. Say Allahu A’lam. The Prophet ﷺ taught that this single phrase admits the limit of human knowledge and honors Allah’s.
Make “Allah knows” the line you return to when life feels unseen. Save the quote that lifts you, send it to a friend in struggle, and pair it with a sincere dua. Allahu A’lam.
