وَٱلطُّورِ

By the mount

Surah 52 · 49 verses

وَٱلطُّورِ
1
wal-ṭūri
— Transliteration
By the mount
— Saheeh International
وَكِتَٰبٍ مَّسْطُورٍ
2
wakitābin masṭūrin
— Transliteration
And [by] a Book inscribed
— Saheeh International
فِى رَقٍّ مَّنشُورٍ
3
fī raqqin manshūrin
— Transliteration
In parchment spread open
— Saheeh International
وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْمَعْمُورِ
4
wal-bayti l-maʿmūri
— Transliteration
And [by] the frequented House
— Saheeh International
وَٱلسَّقْفِ ٱلْمَرْفُوعِ
5
wal-saqfi l-marfūʿi
— Transliteration
And [by] the heaven raised high
— Saheeh International
وَٱلْبَحْرِ ٱلْمَسْجُورِ
6
wal-baḥri l-masjūri
— Transliteration
And [by] the sea filled [with fire],
— Saheeh International
إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَٰقِعٌ
7
inna ʿadhāba rabbika lawāqiʿun
— Transliteration
Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
— Saheeh International
مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعٍ
8
mā lahu min dāfiʿin
— Transliteration
Of it there is no preventer.
— Saheeh International
يَوْمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ مَوْرًا
9
yawma tamūru l-samāu mawran
— Transliteration
On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
— Saheeh International
وَتَسِيرُ ٱلْجِبَالُ سَيْرًا
10
watasīru l-jibālu sayran
— Transliteration
And the mountains will pass on, departing -
— Saheeh International
فَوَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
11
fawaylun yawma-idhin lil'mukadhibīna
— Transliteration
Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
— Saheeh International
ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى خَوْضٍ يَلْعَبُونَ
12
alladhīna hum fī khawḍin yalʿabūna
— Transliteration
Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
— Saheeh International
يَوْمَ يُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا
13
yawma yudaʿʿūna ilā nāri jahannama daʿʿan
— Transliteration
The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],
— Saheeh International
هَٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِى كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ
14
hādhihi l-nāru allatī kuntum bihā tukadhibūna
— Transliteration
"This is the Fire which you used to deny.
— Saheeh International
أَفَسِحْرٌ هَٰذَآ أَمْ أَنتُمْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
15
afasiḥ'run hādhā am antum lā tub'ṣirūna
— Transliteration
Then is this magic, or do you not see?
— Saheeh International
ٱصْلَوْهَا فَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟ أَوْ لَا تَصْبِرُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ إِنَّمَا تُجْزَوْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
16
iṣ'lawhā fa-iṣ'birū aw lā taṣbirū sawāon ʿalaykum innamā tuj'zawna mā kuntum taʿmalūna
— Transliteration
[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."
— Saheeh International
إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى جَنَّٰتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
17
inna l-mutaqīna fī jannātin wanaʿīmin
— Transliteration
Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,
— Saheeh International
فَٰكِهِينَ بِمَآ ءَاتَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَىٰهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
18
fākihīna bimā ātāhum rabbuhum wawaqāhum rabbuhum ʿadhāba l-jaḥīmi
— Transliteration
Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.
— Saheeh International
كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
19
kulū wa-ish'rabū hanīan bimā kuntum taʿmalūna
— Transliteration
[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."
— Saheeh International
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مَّصْفُوفَةٍ ۖ وَزَوَّجْنَٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
20
muttakiīna ʿalā sururin maṣfūfatin wazawwajnāhum biḥūrin ʿīnin
— Transliteration
They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
— Saheeh International
وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُم بِإِيمَٰنٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَمَآ أَلَتْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ ۚ كُلُّ ٱمْرِئٍۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِينٌ
21
wa-alladhīna āmanū wa-ittabaʿathum dhurriyyatuhum biīmānin alḥaqnā bihim dhurriyyatahum wamā alatnāhum min ʿamalihim min shayin kullu im'ri-in bimā kasaba rahīnun
— Transliteration
And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.
— Saheeh International
وَأَمْدَدْنَٰهُم بِفَٰكِهَةٍ وَلَحْمٍ مِّمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
22
wa-amdadnāhum bifākihatin walaḥmin mimmā yashtahūna
— Transliteration
And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.
— Saheeh International
يَتَنَٰزَعُونَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا لَّا لَغْوٌ فِيهَا وَلَا تَأْثِيمٌ
23
yatanāzaʿūna fīhā kasan lā laghwun fīhā walā tathīmun
— Transliteration
They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.
— Saheeh International
۞ وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ غِلْمَانٌ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ لُؤْلُؤٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
24
wayaṭūfu ʿalayhim ghil'mānun lahum ka-annahum lu'lu-on maknūnun
— Transliteration
There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.
— Saheeh International
وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ
25
wa-aqbala baʿḍuhum ʿalā baʿḍin yatasāalūna
— Transliteration
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
— Saheeh International
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِىٓ أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ
26
qālū innā kunnā qablu fī ahlinā mush'fiqīna
— Transliteration
They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah].
— Saheeh International
فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ
27
famanna l-lahu ʿalaynā wawaqānā ʿadhāba l-samūmi
— Transliteration
So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.
— Saheeh International
إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبْلُ نَدْعُوهُ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
28
innā kunnā min qablu nadʿūhu innahu huwa l-baru l-raḥīmu
— Transliteration
Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful."
— Saheeh International
فَذَكِّرْ فَمَآ أَنتَ بِنِعْمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنٍ وَلَا مَجْنُونٍ
29
fadhakkir famā anta biniʿ'mati rabbika bikāhinin walā majnūnin
— Transliteration
So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
— Saheeh International
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ شَاعِرٌ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَيْبَ ٱلْمَنُونِ
30
am yaqūlūna shāʿirun natarabbaṣu bihi rayba l-manūni
— Transliteration
Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?"
— Saheeh International
قُلْ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّى مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَ
31
qul tarabbaṣū fa-innī maʿakum mina l-mutarabiṣīna
— Transliteration
Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."
— Saheeh International
أَمْ تَأْمُرُهُمْ أَحْلَٰمُهُم بِهَٰذَآ ۚ أَمْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُونَ
32
am tamuruhum aḥlāmuhum bihādhā am hum qawmun ṭāghūna
— Transliteration
Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?
— Saheeh International
أَمْ يَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚ بَل لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
33
am yaqūlūna taqawwalahu bal lā yu'minūna
— Transliteration
Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe.
— Saheeh International
فَلْيَأْتُوا۟ بِحَدِيثٍ مِّثْلِهِۦٓ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَٰدِقِينَ
34
falyatū biḥadīthin mith'lihi in kānū ṣādiqīna
— Transliteration
Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.
— Saheeh International
أَمْ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنْ غَيْرِ شَىْءٍ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْخَٰلِقُونَ
35
am khuliqū min ghayri shayin am humu l-khāliqūna
— Transliteration
Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?
— Saheeh International
أَمْ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚ بَل لَّا يُوقِنُونَ
36
am khalaqū l-samāwāti wal-arḍa bal lā yūqinūna
— Transliteration
Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.
— Saheeh International
أَمْ عِندَهُمْ خَزَآئِنُ رَبِّكَ أَمْ هُمُ ٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَ
37
am ʿindahum khazāinu rabbika am humu l-muṣayṭirūna
— Transliteration
Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?
— Saheeh International
أَمْ لَهُمْ سُلَّمٌ يَسْتَمِعُونَ فِيهِ ۖ فَلْيَأْتِ مُسْتَمِعُهُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
38
am lahum sullamun yastamiʿūna fīhi falyati mus'tamiʿuhum bisul'ṭānin mubīnin
— Transliteration
Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority.
— Saheeh International
أَمْ لَهُ ٱلْبَنَٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلْبَنُونَ
39
am lahu l-banātu walakumu l-banūna
— Transliteration
Or has He daughters while you have sons?
— Saheeh International
أَمْ تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ أَجْرًا فَهُم مِّن مَّغْرَمٍ مُّثْقَلُونَ
40
am tasaluhum ajran fahum min maghramin muth'qalūna
— Transliteration
Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?
— Saheeh International
أَمْ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْغَيْبُ فَهُمْ يَكْتُبُونَ
41
am ʿindahumu l-ghaybu fahum yaktubūna
— Transliteration
Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?
— Saheeh International
أَمْ يُرِيدُونَ كَيْدًا ۖ فَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْمَكِيدُونَ
42
am yurīdūna kaydan fa-alladhīna kafarū humu l-makīdūna
— Transliteration
Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.
— Saheeh International
أَمْ لَهُمْ إِلَٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۚ سُبْحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
43
am lahum ilāhun ghayru l-lahi sub'ḥāna l-lahi ʿammā yush'rikūna
— Transliteration
Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
— Saheeh International
وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كِسْفًا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ سَاقِطًا يَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابٌ مَّرْكُومٌ
44
wa-in yaraw kis'fan mina l-samāi sāqiṭan yaqūlū saḥābun markūmun
— Transliteration
And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."
— Saheeh International
فَذَرْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُوا۟ يَوْمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِى فِيهِ يُصْعَقُونَ
45
fadharhum ḥattā yulāqū yawmahumu alladhī fīhi yuṣ'ʿaqūna
— Transliteration
So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -
— Saheeh International
يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُمْ كَيْدُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
46
yawma lā yugh'nī ʿanhum kayduhum shayan walā hum yunṣarūna
— Transliteration
The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.
— Saheeh International
وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابًا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
47
wa-inna lilladhīna ẓalamū ʿadhāban dūna dhālika walākinna aktharahum lā yaʿlamūna
— Transliteration
And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.
— Saheeh International
وَٱصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ
48
wa-iṣ'bir liḥuk'mi rabbika fa-innaka bi-aʿyuninā wasabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika ḥīna taqūmu
— Transliteration
And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise.
— Saheeh International
وَمِنَ ٱلَّيْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ
49
wamina al-layli fasabbiḥ'hu wa-id'bāra l-nujūmi
— Transliteration
And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars.
— Saheeh International
