Chapter 1
Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) once passed by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who was reciting poetry in the mosque. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) glanced at him with the corner of his eye, so he said, "I used to recite poetry in this mosque at a time when one better than you was present here."

Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) once passed by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), who was reciting poetry in the mosque.
Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) once passed by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) who was reciting poetry in the mosque. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) glanced at him with the corner of his eye, so he said, "I used to recite poetry in this mosque at a time when someone better than you was present here." Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) left from there because he understood that he was referring to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) once passed by Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) who was reciting poetry in the mosque. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) glanced at him with the corner of his eye, so he (Hassan) said, "I used to recite poetry in this mosque at a time when one better than you was present here." Upon this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) left him and moved on.
