Hadith of Rifa‘ah ibn Rafi‘ Az-Zuraqi (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ (١)، ١٨٩٩٢ - حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَوْلَى الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُمْ، وَابْنُ أُخْتِهِمْ مِنْهُمْ، وَحَلِيفُهُمْ مِنْهُمْ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet said: The freed slave of a people is counted among them, and likewise, a nephew and an ally are also counted among that people.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ: جَمَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُرَيْشًا فَقَالَ: " هَلْ فِيكُمْ مِنْ غَيْرِكُمْ؟ " قَالُوا: لَا، إِلَّا ابْنُ أُخْتِنَا وَحَلِيفُنَا وَمَوْلَانَا، فَقَالَ: " ابْنُ أُخْتِكُمْ مِنْكُمْ، وَحَلِيفُكُمْ مِنْكُمْ، وَمَوْلَاكُمْ مِنْكُمْ، إِنَّ قُرَيْشًا أَهْلُ صِدْقٍ وَأَمَانَةٍ، فَمَنْ بَغَى لَهَا الْعَوَاثِرَ أَكَبَّهُ (١) اللهُ فِي النَّارِ لِوَجْهِهِ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Rifa’ah that once the Prophet gathered the Quraysh and asked, “Is there anyone among you other than the Quraysh?” The people said, “No, except for our nephews, allies, and freed slaves.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Your nephews, allies, and freed slaves are from among you. Surely, the people of Quraysh are truthful and trustworthy. Whoever digs a pit for them, Allah will throw him face down into Hell.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُفَضَّلِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " حَلِيفُنَا مِنَّا، وَمَوْلَانَا مِنَّا،، ، وَابْنُ أُخْتِنَا مِنَّا " (١)،

It is narrated from Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet said: Our freed slave, nephew, and ally will also be counted among us.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلَّادٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَصَلَّى قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ (٢) فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَعِدْ صَلَاتَكَ، فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ ". قَالَ: فَرَجَعَ فَصَلَّى كَنَحْوٍ مِمَّا صَلَّى، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: " أَعِدْ صَلَاتَكَ، فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ ". فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَلِّمْنِي كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ، قَالَ: " إِذَا اسْتَقْبَلْتَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَكَبِّرْ، ثُمَّ اقْرَأْ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ، ثُمَّ اقْرَأْ بِمَا شِئْتَ، فَإِذَا رَكَعْتَ، فَاجْعَلْ رَاحَتَيْكَ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْكَ، وَامْدُدْ ظَهْرَكَ وَمَكِّنْ لِرُكُوعِكَ، فَإِذَا رَفَعْتَ رَأْسَكَ فَأَقِمْ صُلْبَكَ حَتَّى تَرْجِعَ الْعِظَامُ إِلَى مَفَاصِلِهَا، وَإِذَا سَجَدْتَ فَمَكِّنْ لِسُجُودِكَ، فَإِذَا رَفَعْتَ رَأْسَكَ، فَاجْلِسْ عَلَى فَخِذِكَ الْيُسْرَى، ثُمَّ، ، اصْنَعْ ذَلِكَ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ وَسَجْدَةٍ " (١)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet was sitting in the mosque when a man came and started praying near the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). After finishing the prayer, he came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to him, "Repeat your prayer, for you have not prayed properly." He went and prayed again as before and came back. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) again said to him, "Repeat your prayer, for you have not prayed properly." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)! Teach me the way to pray, how should I pray?" The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "When you face the Qiblah, say Allahu Akbar, then recite Surah Al-Fatihah and with it whatever Surah you wish. When you bow (in ruku’), place your palms on your knees, spread your back and make it level for ruku’. When you raise your head from ruku’, straighten your back until all the bones return to their joints. And when you prostrate, do it well, and when you raise your head from prostration, sit on your left thigh, and do the same in every ruku’ and prostration."

قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَهْدِيٍّ: مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُجْمِرِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَحْيَى الزُّرَقِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ قَالَ: كُنَّا نُصَلِّي يَوْمًا وَرَاءَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا رَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرَّكْعَةِ وَقَالَ: " سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ " قَالَ رَجُلٌ وَرَاءَهُ: رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " مَنِ الْمُتَكَلِّمُ آنِفًا؟ " قَالَ الرَّجُلُ: أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ بِضْعَةً وَثَلَاثِينَ مَلَكًا يَبْتَدِرُونَهَا أَيُّهُمْ يَكْتُبُهَا أَوَّلًا " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were praying behind the Prophet. When the Prophet raised his head from bowing and said "Sami’ Allahu liman hamidah," a man behind him said, "Rabbana lakal hamd, hamdan kathiran tayyiban mubarakan fihi." After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, "Who said these words just now?" That man replied, "O Messenger of Allah, I said them." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "I saw more than thirty angels rushing to see who would write its reward first."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَلَّادٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ، وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَدَخَلَ رَجُلٌ، فَصَلَّى (١) فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ، فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرْمُقُهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ: " ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ، فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ " فَرَجَعَ فَصَلَّىَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ: " ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ، فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ " (٢) قَالَ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا، فَقَالَ لَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوْ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ: وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ،، ، لَقَدْ أَجْهَدْتُ نَفْسِي، فَعَلِّمْنِي وَأَرِنِي، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ فَتَوَضَّأْ فَأَحْسِنْ وُضُوءَكَ، ثُمَّ اسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ، ثُمَّ كَبِّرْ، ثُمَّ اقْرَأْ، ثُمَّ ارْكَعْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ رَاكِعًا، ثُمَّ ارْفَعْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ قَائِمًا، ثُمَّ اسْجُدْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ سَاجِدًا، ثُمَّ ارْفَعْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ جَالِسًا، ثُمَّ اسْجُدْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ سَاجِدًا، ثُمَّ قُمْ، فَإِذَا أَتْمَمْتَ صَلَاتَكَ عَلَى هَذَا فَقَدْ أَتْمَمْتَهَا، وَمَا انْتَقَصْتَ مِنْ هَذَا مِنْ شَيْءٍ، فَإِنَّمَا تُنْقِصُهُ مِنْ صَلَاتِكَ " (١)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) was sitting in the mosque when a man came and began to pray near the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). After finishing the prayer, he came to the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), so the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to him, "Repeat your prayer, for you have not prayed properly." He went away and prayed again as he had done before, then returned. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) again said to him, "Repeat your prayer, for you have not prayed properly." He said, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), teach me how to pray." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When you face the Qiblah, say Allahu Akbar, then recite Surah Al-Fatihah and with it whatever Surah you wish. When you bow (ruku’), place your palms on your knees, straighten your back, and make your ruku’ well-balanced. When you raise your head from ruku’, straighten your back until all the bones return to their joints. And when you prostrate (sajdah), do it well, and stand up straight. If you complete your prayer in this manner, you have performed it perfectly, and if you are negligent in any of these things, your prayer is incomplete."
