Hadith of Tariq ibn Shihab (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ (١)، ١٨٨٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُخَارِقِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَحْمَسِيِّ، عَنْ طَارِقٍ، أَنَّ الْمِقْدَادَ قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ: " يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّا لَا نَقُولُ لَكَ كَمَا قَالَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ لِمُوسَى: {اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ} ، وَلَكِنْ اذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا، إِنَّا مَعَكُمْ مُقَاتِلُونَ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Tariq (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the occasion of the Battle of Badr, Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! We will not say as the Children of Israel said to Musa, 'You and your Lord go and fight, we are sitting here.' Rather, we say, 'You and your Lord go and fight, we too are with you in the battle.'"

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ،، ، عَنْ طَارِقٍ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: أَيُّ الْجِهَادِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: " كَلِمَةُ حَقٍّ عِنْدَ إِمَامٍ جَائِرٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Tariq (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) and asked, "Which jihad is the most virtuous?" The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "To speak a word of truth before a tyrant ruler."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، وَابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ طَارِقَ بْنَ شِهَابٍ يَقُولُ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَغَزَوْتُ فِي خِلَافَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ بِضْعًا وَأَرْبَعِينَ، أَوْ بِضْعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ مِنْ بَيْنِ غَزْوَةٍ وَسَرِيَّةٍ " وقَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ: " ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا وَأَرْبَعِينَ مِنْ غَزْوَةٍ إِلَى سَرِيَّةٍ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Tariq (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have seen the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), and during the caliphate of the two Shaykhs (may Allah be pleased with them), I also had the honor of participating in more than thirty or forty expeditions and campaigns.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَقَدْ وَضَعَ رِجْلَهُ فِي الْغَرْزِ: أَيُّ الْجِهَادِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: " كَلِمَةُ حَقٍّ عِنْدَ سُلْطَانٍ جَائِرٍ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Tariq (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) at a time when the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) had his feet in the stirrup, and he said, "Which jihad is the most virtuous?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "Speaking a word of truth before a tyrant ruler."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمْ يَضَعْ دَاءً إِلَّا وَضَعَ لَهُ شِفَاءً، فَعَلَيْكُمْ بِأَلْبَانِ الْبَقَرِ، فَإِنَّهَا تَرُمُّ مِنْ كُلِّ الشَّجَرِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Tariq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Allah Almighty has not created any disease without also creating its cure, therefore make cow's milk obligatory upon yourselves, for it grazes from every tree (thus it contains all the plant elements).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُخَارِقٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ: أَجْنَبَ رَجُلَانِ فَتَيَمَّمَ أَحَدُهُمَا فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ الْآخَرُ، فَأَتَيَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " فَلَمْ يَعِبْ عَلَيْهِمَا (١) "، ،

It is narrated from Tariq (may Allah be pleased with him) that two men became obligated to perform ghusl. One of them performed tayammum and offered the prayer, while the other did not pray due to not finding water. Both of them came to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and the Prophet (ﷺ) did not reproach either of them.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُخَارِقٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ: قَدِمَ وَفْدُ بَجِيلَةَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " اكْسُوا الْبَجَلِيِّينَ، وَابْدَءُوا بِالْأَحْمَسِيِّينَ " قَالَ: فَتَخَلَّفَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَيْسٍ قَالَ: حَتَّى أَنْظُرَ مَا يَقُولُ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: قَالَ: فَدَعَا لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ: " اللهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ، أَوِ اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِيهِمْ (١) " مُخَارِقٌ الَّذِي يَشُكُّ،

It is narrated from Tariq (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a delegation from Bajila came to the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said to the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), "Clothe the people of Bajila, and start with the people of Ahmas." A man from the tribe of Qais stayed behind to see whether the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) would supplicate for them. He says that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) supplicated for them five times, saying, "O Allah, send blessings upon them."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُخَارِقٍ، عَنْ طَارِقٍ قَالَ: قَدِمَ وَفْدُ أَحْمَسَ وَوَفْدُ قَيْسٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " ابْدَءُوا بِالْأَحْمَسِيِّينَ قَبْلَ الْقَيْسِيِّينَ "، وَدَعَا لِأَحْمَسَ فَقَالَ: " اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ فِي أَحْمَسَ، وَخَيْلِهَا وَرِجَالِهَا "، ، سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ (١)،
