Hadith of Abu Las Al-Khuza'i, also called Ibn Las (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ أَبِي لَاسٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ وَيُقَالُ لَهُ ابْنُ لَاسٍ، ١٧٩٣٨ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عُمَرِ (١) بْنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي لَاسٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ، قَالَ: حَمَلَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى إِبِلٍ مِنْ إِبِلِ الصَّدَقَةِ لِلْحَجِّ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا نَرَى أَنْ تَحْمِلَنَا هَذِهِ. قَالَ: " مَا مِنْ بَعِيرٍ إِلَّا (٢) فِي ذُرْوَتِهِ شَيْطَانٌ، فَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَيْهَا إِذَا رَكِبْتُمُوهَا كَمَا أمَرَكم (٣) ، ثُمَّ امْتَهِنُوهَا لِأَنْفُسِكُمْ فَإِنَّمَا يَحْمِلُ اللهُ " (٤)، ،

It is narrated from Abu al-As Khuzai (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) granted us a camel from the camels of charity to ride during Hajj: We said, O Messenger of Allah! (ﷺ) Perhaps this (due to weakness) will not be able to bear our load. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: There is a devil on the hump of every camel. When you are about to mount it, do so by taking the name of Allah as you have been commanded, then bring it under your control. Allah Almighty will make it suitable for riding.

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ (١) بْنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ، وَكَانَ ثِقَةً، عَنِ أَبِي لَاسٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ، قَالَ: حَمَلَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى إِبِلٍ مِنْ إِبِلِ الصَّدَقَةِ ضِعَافٍ إِلَى الْحَجِّ، قَالَ: فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْإِبِلَ ضِعَافٌ نَخْشَى أَنْ لَا تَحْمِلَنَا. قَالَ: فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَا مِنْ بَعِيرٍ إِلَّا فِي ذُرْوَتِهِ شَيْطَانٌ،، فَارْكَبُوهُنَّ، وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَيْهِنَّ كَمَا أُمِرْتُمْ، ثُمَّ امْتَهِنُوهُنَّ لِأَنْفُسِكُمْ، فَإِنَّمَا يَحْمِلُ اللهُ " (٢)، ،
