Hadith of 'Ubad ibn Qurt (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ قُرْطٍ (١) (٢)، ١٥٨٥٩ - حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُبَادَةُ بْنُ قُرْطٍ: " إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ أُمُورًا هِيَ أَدَقُّ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ مِنَ الشَّعَرِ، كُنَّا نَعُدُّهَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُوبِقَاتِ " قَالَ: فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ لِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، فَقَالَ: " صَدَقَ وَأَرَى جَرَّ الْإِزَارِ مِنْهَا " (٣)، ،

‘Ubada bin Qirt narrates that you people commit such deeds which, in your eyes, are considered even less significant than a hair, but during the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ), we used to count those very things among the destructive (sins).
