Hadith of Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ بِلَالٍ (١)، ٢٣٨٨٣ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ: قَالَ بِلَالٌ: " يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَا تَسْبِقْنِي بِآمِينَ " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Bilal Habashi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), please give me the opportunity to say Ameen."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: " مَسَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ " (١)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Bilal Habshi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) wiped (performed masah) over his leather socks and turban.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَجَّ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى شَيْبَةَ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ أَنْ افْتَحْ بَابَ الْكَعْبَةِ، فَقَالَ: عَلَيَّ بِعَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: فَجَاءَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ: هَلْ بَلَغَكَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِي الْكَعْبَةِ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ الْكَعْبَةَ، فَتَأَخَّرَ خُرُوجُهُ فَوَجَدْتُ شَيْئًا فَذَهَبْتُ، ثُمَّ جِئْتُ سَرِيعًا، فَوَجَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَارِجًا، فَسَأَلْتُ بِلَالَ بْنَ رَبَاحٍ هَلْ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَيْنَ السَّارِيَتَيْنِ " (١)، ،

Abdullah bin Abi Mulaika reports that Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) once came to Makkah Mukarramah and entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah). He sent a message to Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asking in which part of the House of Allah the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had performed prayer. He replied that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) entered the House of Allah and delayed coming out. I felt a need, so I left, and when I quickly returned, I saw that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had already come out. I asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had performed prayer inside the Ka'bah. He replied, "Yes! He performed prayer between two pillars."

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِبِلَالٍ كَيْفَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَرُدُّ عَلَيْهِمْ حِينَ كَانُوا يُسَلِّمُونَ عَلَيْهِ (١) فِي الصَّلَاةِ؟ قَالَ: " كَانَ يُشِيرُ بِيَدِهِ " (٢)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): If people greeted the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) with salam while he was in the state of prayer, how would the Prophet (ﷺ) respond to them? He replied: He would indicate to them with his blessed hand.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: " لَمْ يَكُنْ يَنْهَى عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ، إِلَّا عِنْدَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ، فَإِنَّهَا تَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيِ الشَّيْطَانِ " (١)، ،

It is narrated from Bilal Habashi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the prohibition of voluntary prayers was only at the time of sunrise, because the sun rises between the two horns of Satan.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ شَهْرِ (١) بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَفْطَرَ الْحَاجِمُ وَالْمَحْجُومُ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Bilal Habshi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: The fast of both the one who applies cupping and the one to whom it is applied is broken.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، وَأَبُو أَحْمَدَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُوذِنُهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ - قَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ: وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ - " فَدَعَا بِقَدَحٍ فَشَرِبَ وَسَقَانِي، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ، ، إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ لِلصَّلَاةِ، فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي بِغَيْرِ وُضُوءٍ يُرِيدُ الصَّوْمَ " (١)،

It is narrated from Bilal Habshi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I went to the presence of the Messenger of Allah to inform him about the prayer (the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, intended to fast). The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, asked for a bowl, drank its water himself, and also gave me to drink. Then he came to the mosque for prayer and led the prayer without performing a fresh ablution.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ، عَنْ الصُّنَابِحِيِّ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ لَيْلَةُ أَرْبَعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ " (٢)، ، . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .، ،

It is narrated from Bilal Habashi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: The Night of Qadr (Laylat al-Qadr) is on the 24th night of Ramadan.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَا: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ، يَسْأَلُ بِلَالًا كَيْفَ مَسَحَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ؟ قَالَ: " تَبَرَّزَ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمِطْهَرَةٍ - أَيْ: إِدَاوَةٍ -، فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ وَعَلَى خِمَارِ الْعِمَامَةِ، قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ:، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمِطْهَرَةٍ بِالْإِدَاوَةِ " (١)،

Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) once asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) how the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) used to perform masah (wiping) over the leather socks. He replied that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would come out, have a vessel of water brought to him, and wash his blessed face and both blessed hands, then he would perform masah over the leather socks and the turban.

حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مَكْحُولًا، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ خِمَارٍ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " امْسَحُوا عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ " (٢)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ، مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَكْحُولٌ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ خِمَارٍ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " امْسَحُوا عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ " (١)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَبِلَالٌ قَدْ غَلَقَهَا، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ سَأَلْتُ بِلَالًا: مَاذَا صَنَعَ النَّبِيُّ؟ قَالَ: " تَرَكَ عَمُودَيْنِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَعَمُودًا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، وَثَلَاثَةَ أَعْمِدَةٍ خَلْفَهُ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى وَبَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَذْرُعٍ " (١)،

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) once entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah). At that time, Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), Uthman bin Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) were with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). At the command of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) closed the door, and they remained inside for as long as Allah willed. When the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) came out, I first met Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him, "Where did the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) pray?" He replied that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) prayed leaving two pillars on his right, one on his left, and three behind him. At that time, there was a distance of three cubits between the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and the Qiblah wall.

حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنِ أبِي (٢) إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: " أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُوذِنُهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَهُوَ يُرِيدُ الصِّيَامَ، فَشَرِبَ، ثُمَّ نَاوَلَنِي وَخَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ " (٣)،

It is narrated from Bilal Habashi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I went to the court of the Messenger (ﷺ) to inform him about the prayer (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, intended to fast). The Prophet (ﷺ) asked for a bowl, drank its water himself, and also gave me to drink. Then he proceeded to the mosque for prayer and led the prayer without performing a fresh ablution.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَكْحُولٌ، أَنَّ نُعَيْمَ بْنَ خِمَارٍ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ بِلَالًا، أَخْبَرَهُ (٤) أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " امْسَحُوا عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ " (٥)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْفَتْحِ، قَضَوْا طَوَافَهُمْ بِالْبَيْتِ، وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ، فَغَفَلَ عَنْهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ فَلَمَّا أُنْبِئَ بِدُخُولِهِ أَقْبَلَ يَرْكَبُ أَعْنَاقَ الرِّجَالِ، فَدَخَلَ يَقْتَدِي بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَيْفَ يُصَلِّي؟ فَتَلَقَّاهُ عِنْدَ الْبَابِ خَارِجًا فَسَأَلَ بِلَالًا الْمُؤَذِّنَ كَيْفَ صَنَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ؟ قَالَ: " صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ حِيَالَ وَجْهِهِ، ثُمَّ دَعَا اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سَاعَةً، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ " (١)،

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, when the people had completed Tawaf and Sa'i, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) entered the House of Allah. Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was not aware of this. When he came to know, he began to enter following the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), climbing over people's necks. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) met him at a time when the Prophet (ﷺ) had already come out. He asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), "What did the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) do after entering the Ka'bah?" He replied that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) faced the front side and prayed two rak'ahs, then supplicated for a while and came out.

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى، وَعَبْدَ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ (٢) ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ " (٣)، ،

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا السَّائِبُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا السَّائِبُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ بِلَالَ بْنَ رَبَاحٍ: أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ؟ قَالَ: " بَيْنَ السَّارِيَتَيْنِ " وَقَالَ ابْنُ بَكْرٍ " سَجْدَتَيْنِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that I asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) where the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed when he entered the Ka'bah. He replied: Between two pillars (and at that time there was a distance of three cubits between the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and the wall).

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ،، ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ بِلَالًا: أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ؟ قَالَ: " كَانَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِدَارِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَذْرُعٍ " (١)،

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ، عَنْ شَدَّادٍ، مَوْلَى عِيَاضِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ: " أَنَّهُ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُؤْذِنُهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَوَجَدَهُ يَتَسَحَّرُ فِي مَسْجِدِ بَيْتِهِ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I went to the presence of the Messenger of Allah to inform him about the prayer, and I found the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) having suhoor in the mosque of his house.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْوَرْدِ بْنِ ثُمَامَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مِرْدَاسٍ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ الشَّامَ أَتْيَةً فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ غَلِيظُ الشَّفَتَيْنِ، أَوْ قَالَ: ضَخْمُ الشَّفَتَيْنِ، وَالْأَنْفِ، إِذَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ سِلَاحٌ، فَسَأَلُوهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، خُذُوا مِنْ هَذَا السِّلَاحِ وَاسْتَصْلِحُوهُ، وَجَاهِدُوا بِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ " قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا؟ قَالُوا: بِلَالٌ (٣)، ،

Amr bin Mirdas says that once I came to Syria and there I saw a man whose lips were very thick and there were weapons in front of him. People were asking him questions and he was saying, "O people! Take these weapons and use them for reform, and strive in the way of Allah with them. This is what the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has said." I asked the people, "Who is this?" They told me, "This is Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him)."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ قَاعِدًا مَعَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، فَمَرَّ بِلَالٌ، فَسَأَلَهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْضِي حَاجَتَهُ، فَآتِيهِ بِالْمَاءِ، فَيَتَوَضَّأُ، وَيَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْعِمَامَةِ، وَعَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ " (١)، ،

Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) once asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) how the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) used to perform masah (wiping) over the leather socks. He replied that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would come out, have a vessel of water brought to him, and wash his blessed face and both blessed hands, then he would perform masah over the leather socks and the turban.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُتَيْبَةَ (١) ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ: " رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْسَحُ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْخِمَارِ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Bilal Habshi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) wiped (performed masah) over his leather socks and turban.

حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ شُجَاعٍ (٣) ، حَدَّثَنِي خُصَيْفٌ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ بِلَالًا، فَأَخْبَرَهُ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ جَعَلَ الْأُسْطُوَانَةَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، وَتَقَدَّمَ قَلِيلًا وَجَعَلَ الْمَقَامَ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ " (٤)، ،

Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he informed that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) prayed two rak'ahs inside the Ka'bah, keeping the pillar on his right side, moving a little forward, and keeping Maqam Ibrahim behind his back.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ عَنْ بِلَالٍ: " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " (١)،

It is narrated from Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) prayed two rak‘ahs inside the Ka‘bah.

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَيْفُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا، قَالَ: أُتِيَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ دَخَلَ الْكَعْبَةَ قَالَ: فَأَقْبَلْتُ، قَالَ: فَأَجِدُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ خَرَجَ وَأَجِدُ بِلَالًا قَائِمًا بَيْنَ الْبَابَيْنِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا بِلَالُ، هَلْ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَيْنَ هَاتَيْنِ السَّارِيَتَيْنِ، وَأَشَارَ لَهُ إِلَى السَّارِيَتَيْنِ اللَّتَيْنِ عَلَى يَسَارِكِ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ، ، خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى فِي وَجْهِ الْكَعْبَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " (١)،

Abdullah bin Abi Mulaika reports that Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) once came to Makkah Mukarramah and entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah). He sent a message to Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asking in which part of the House of Allah the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had performed prayer. He replied that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) entered the House of Allah and delayed coming out. I felt a need, so I left, and when I quickly returned, I saw that the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had already come out. I asked Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) whether the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) had performed prayer inside the Ka'bah. He replied, "Yes! He performed prayer between two pillars."

حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ، يَعْنِي أَبَاهُ، قَالَ: اعْتَمَرَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَدَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَجَلَسَ يَنْتَظِرُهُ حَتَّى جَاءَهُ، فَقَالَ: أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ دَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ؟ قَالَ: مَا كُنْتُ مَعَهُ، وَلَكِنِّي دَخَلْتُ بَعْدَ أَنْ أَرَادَ الْخُرُوجَ، فَلَقِيتُ بِلَالًا فَسَأَلْتُهُ: أَيْنَ صَلَّى؟ فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّهُ " صَلَّى بَيْنَ الْأُسْطُوَانَتَيْنِ " فَقَامَ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَصَلَّى بَيْنَهُمَا (٣)،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو، ، زِيَادَةَ (١) عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زِيَادَةَ الْكِنْدِيُّ، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ: أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُؤْذِنُهُ بِصَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ، فَشَغَلَتْ عَائِشَةُ بِلَالًا بِأَمْرٍ سَأَلَتْهُ عَنْهُ حَتَّى فَضَحَهُ الصُّبْحُ، وَأَصْبَحَ جِدًّا، قَالَ: فَقَامَ بِلَالٌ فَآذَنَهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ، وَتَابَعَ بَيْنَ أَذَانِهِ، فَلَمْ يَخْرُجْ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ شَغَلَتْهُ بِأَمْرٍ سَأَلَتْهُ عَنْهُ حَتَّى أَصْبَحَ جِدًّا، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْهِ بِالْخُرُوجِ فَقَالَ: " إِنِّي رَكَعْتُ رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ " قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّكَ قَدْ أَصْبَحْتَ جِدًّا قَالَ: " لَوْ أَصْبَحْتُ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ، لَرَكَعْتُهُمَا (٢) وَأَحْسَنْتُهُمَا وَأَجْمَلْتُهُمَا " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he came to inform the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) about the Fajr prayer, but Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) engaged him in some questioning until it became light and the brightness spread. Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) got up and went to inform the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) about the prayer and kept informing him continuously, but the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) did not come out. After a little while, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) himself came out and led the people in prayer. Then Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) told the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) had started asking him something, due to which the morning had begun, and then you also delayed coming out. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "I was performing the Sunnah of Fajr." He said, "O Messenger of Allah! By that time, the morning had become very bright." The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "Even if the brightness had spread even more than that, I would still have performed them with full attention and beauty."

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، وَأَبُو أَحْمَدَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو (٢) إِسْرَائِيلَ، قَالَ: أَبُو أَحْمَدَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: " أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا أُثَوِّبَ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنَ، ، الصَّلَاةِ إِلَّا فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ "، وَقَالَ أَبُو أَحْمَدَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا أَذَّنْتَ فَلَا تُثَوِّبْ ... It is narrated from Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that I have seen that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) had instructed me not to announce the commencement of prayer after the call to prayer (adhan) for any prayer except the Fajr prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي زَيْدٍ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ بِلَالٍ، قَالَ: " أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا أُثَوِّبَ إِلَّا فِي الْفَجْرِ " (١)،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ، قَالَ: ذَكَرَ رَجُلٌ، لِشُعْبَةَ: الْحَكَمُ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ بِلَالٍ: " فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أُثَوِّبَ فِي الْفَجْرِ وَنَهَانِي عَنِ الْعِشَاءِ " فَقَالَ شُعْبَةُ: " وَاللهِ مَا ذَكَرَ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى، وَلَا ذَكَرَ إِلَّا إِسْنَادًا ضَعِيفًا، قَالَ: أَظُنُّ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ: كُنْتُ أُرَاهُ رَوَاهُ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ " (٢)،

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَ عَنْ بِلَالٍ: " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى فِي الْبَيْتِ " ١٠ قَالَ: وَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: " لَمْ يُصَلِّ فِيهِ وَلَكِنَّهُ كَبَّرَ فِي نَوَاحِيهِ " (٢)، ،

Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated from Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) prayed inside the Ka'bah, while Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) did not pray inside the Ka'bah, rather he proclaimed takbeer in its corners.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، - قَالَ شُعْبَةُ: كَتَبَ إليَّ (١) -، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ: قَالَ بِلَالٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا تَسْبِقْنِي بِآمِينَ " (٢)،

It is narrated from Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) that he submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Please give me the opportunity to say Ameen."

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: صَعِدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْبَيْتَ وَبِلَالٌ خَلْفَهُ، قَالَ: وَكُنْتُ شَابًّا فَصَعِدْتُ فَاسْتَقْبَلَنِي بِلَالٌ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: مَا صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ هَاهُنَا؟ قَالَ: " فَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ أَيْ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ " (٣)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) once entered the House of Allah, and at that time Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was behind the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) came out, and the first person I met was Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him). I asked him, "Where did the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) pray?" He replied, "Here, between these two pillars."

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ: دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ عَلَى نَاقَةٍ لِأُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، فَأَنَاخَ، يَعْنِي بِالْكَعْبَةِ، ثُمَّ دَعَا عُثْمَانَ بْنَ طَلْحَةَ بِالْمِفْتَاحِ، فَذَهَبَ يَأْتِيهِ بِهِ، فَأَبَتْ أُمُّهُ أَنْ تُعْطِيَهُ، فَقَالَ: لَتُعْطِيَنَّهُ أَوْ يَخْرُجُ بِالسَّيْفِ مِنْ صُلْبِي، فَدَفَعَتْهُ إِلَيْهِ، فَفَتَحَ الْبَابَ فَدَخَلَ وَمَعَهُ بِلَالٌ وَعُثْمَانُ وَأُسَامَةُ فَأَجَافُوا الْبَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَلِيًّا، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: وَكُنْتُ رَجُلًا شَابًّا قَوِيًّا فَبَادَرْتُ النَّاسَ فَبَدَرْتُهُمْ، فَوَجَدْتُ بِلَالًا قَائِمًا عَلَى الْبَابِ، فَقُلْتُ: أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ فَقَالَ: " بَيْنَ الْعَمُودَيْنِ الْمُقَدَّمَيْنِ "، وَنَسِيتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ كَمْ صَلَّى؟ (١)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) once entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah). At that time, Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), Uthman bin Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) were with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). At the command of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) closed the door, and they remained inside for as long as Allah willed. When the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) came out, the first person I met was Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and I asked him, "Where did the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) pray?" He replied, "The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) prayed here, between these two pillars."

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيِى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَني نَافِعٍ، عَنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ: أن رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَل الْبَيْتَ هُوَ وبِلَالٌ وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ طَلْحَةَ، فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا فَأَجَافَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْبَابَ، فَمَكَثُوا سَاعَةً ثُمَّ خَرَجَ، فَلَمَّا فَتَحَ كُنْتُ أَوَّلَ مَْ دَخَلَ، فَسَأَلْتُ بلِاَلًا: أَيْنَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " بَيْنَ الْعَمُودَيْنِ، ، الْمُقَدَّمَيْنِ ". وَنَسِيتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ كَمْ صَلَّى؟ (١)، ،

It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) once entered the House of Allah (the Ka'bah), and at that time Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), Usama bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him), Uthman bin Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). At the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) closed the door, and they remained inside for as long as Allah willed. Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out, the first person I met was Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and I asked him where the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had prayed. He told me, "Here, between these two pillars." However, I forgot to ask how many rak'ahs the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had prayed.
