Chapter 1
It is narrated from Jabir bin Atik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Some types of jealousy are beloved to Allah and some are disliked by Allah. Similarly, some types of pride are beloved to Allah and some are disliked. Thus, the jealousy that is beloved to Allah is in matters where there is a legitimate cause, and the disliked jealousy is that in which there is no aspect of doubt. And the pride that is beloved to Allah is when a person distinguishes himself for the sake of Allah’s pleasure at the time of fighting (in battle) and in giving charity and alms. (And the disliked pride is that which is only for boasting or rebellion.)

It is narrated from Jabir bin Atik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came to us in Banu Muawiyah, which is a settlement of the Ansar, and said to me, "Do you know where the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) prayed in your mosque?" I said, "Yes!" and pointed towards a corner of the mosque. Then he said, "Do you know what three things the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) prayed for here?" I said, "Yes!" He said, "Tell me, what are they?" I said, "The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) prayed that Allah would not impose any external enemy upon the Muslims and that He would not destroy them through famine. Both these prayers were accepted. And the third prayer was that fighting would not break out among them, but Allah did not accept this prayer." Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "You have stated correctly. Killing and bloodshed will continue like this until the Day of Judgment."

It is narrated from Jabir bin Atik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Some types of jealousy are beloved to Allah and some are disliked by Allah.
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I went with the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to attend the funeral of an Ansari. His family was weeping over him. I said to them, "Are you weeping in the presence of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)?" The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "Let them be. As long as he is with them, they will weep over him, and when he is buried in the grave, then they will not weep."

It is narrated from Jabir bin Atik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Some types of jealousy are beloved to Allah and some are disliked by Allah. Similarly, some types of pride are beloved to Allah and some are disliked. Thus, the jealousy that is beloved to Allah is in those matters where there is a possibility (of wrongdoing) in a person, and the disliked jealousy is that in which there is no aspect of doubt. And the pride that is beloved to Allah is when a person distinguishes himself for the sake of Allah’s pleasure at the time of fighting (in battle) and in giving charity and alms. (And the disliked pride is that which is only for boasting or rebellion.)

It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Abdullah bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, his daughter said, "By Allah! I hope that you will be included among the martyrs because you had completed your preparations." The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "Allah has fixed his reward according to his intention. What do you people understand by 'martyrdom'?" The people replied, "Being killed in the way of Allah." The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, "Besides being killed in the way of Allah, there are seven other types of martyrdom: whoever dies in a plague is a martyr, whoever drowns in the sea is a martyr, whoever dies of pleurisy is a martyr, whoever dies of a stomach disease is a martyr, whoever dies by burning in fire is a martyr, whoever dies by being buried under a collapsed building is a martyr, and a woman who dies in the state of childbirth is a martyr."

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Jabir Abdi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was included in the delegation of Abdul Qais who came to the service of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ). He was not from that tribe, but had come along with his father.
