Hadith of a man from Banu Dumrah from a man of his people (may Allah be pleased with him)

حَدِيثُ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ، ٢٣٦٤٣ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ بَنِي ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، مِنْ قَوْمِهِ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ فَقَالَ: " لَا أُحِبُّ الْعُقُوقَ، وَلَكِنْ (١) مَنْ وُلِدَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ، فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْسُكَ عَلَيْهِ، أَوْ عَنْهُ، فَلْيَفْعَلْ " (٢)،

It is narrated from a Companion (may Allah be pleased with him) that a person asked the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) about ‘Aqiqah. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: I do not like ‘Uquq (from which this word is derived and which means disobedience to parents), thus expressing dislike for this word, and said: Whoever has a child born to him and wishes to slaughter an animal on his behalf, he should do so.

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَوْ عَنْ عَمِّهِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَفَةَ فَسُئِلَ، ، عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ؟ فَقَالَ: " لَا أُحِبُّ الْعُقُوقَ، وَلَكِنْ مَنْ وُلِدَ لَهُ وَلَدٌ، فَأَحَبَّ أَنَّ يَنْسُكَ عَنْهُ فَلْيَفْعَلْ " (١)، ،
