It is narrated from Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Abu al-Haythar Anas bin Rafi’ came to Makkah Mukarramah, some young men from Banu Abd al-Ashhal were with him, among whom was Iyas bin Mu’adh. The purpose of their arrival was to seek an oath and alliance from the Quraysh against their own Khazraj. When the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) heard of their arrival, he went to them and sat with them and said, “Shall I not tell you something better than the purpose for which you have come?” They asked, “What is that?” The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said, “I am the Messenger of Allah. He has sent me to His servants so that I may invite them to worship Allah alone and not associate anything with Him, and He has revealed His Book to me.” Then the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) recited the Holy Qur’an to them. Upon hearing it, Iyas bin Mu’adh, who was a young boy, said, “O my people, by Allah! This is much better than that for which you have come here.” So Abu al-Haythar Anas bin Rafi’ picked up a handful of pebbles and threw them at Iyas’s mouth. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) got up from them, and those people also returned to Madinah, and the Battle of Bu’ath took place between the Aws and Khazraj. Shortly after, Iyas bin Mu’adh passed away. Mahmood (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the people of my tribe who were present with him at the time of his death told me, “We saw him constantly reciting the Tahleel (La ilaha illallah), Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), Tasbeeh (Subhanallah), and Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah) until he passed away, and there remained no doubt among the people that he died as a Muslim. Indeed, Islam had entered his heart at the very moment he heard the words of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).”

It is narrated from Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day when the son of the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), passed away, the sun was eclipsed. People began to say that the sun was eclipsed because of the death of Ibrahim. The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah; they are not eclipsed because of anyone’s death or life. When you see them eclipsed, then hasten towards the mosques. Then the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and, according to our estimation, recited as much as Surah Ibrahim, performed ruku‘, stood straight, performed two prostrations, and did the same in the second rak‘ah as he had done in the first.

It is narrated from Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "What I fear most for you is minor shirk (associating partners with Allah in a lesser form)." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by minor shirk?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Showing off (riya)." Allah Almighty will say to those who showed off on the Day of Judgment, "When people are being rewarded for their deeds, go to those for whom you used to perform deeds to show them in the world, and see if you find any reward with them."

Husain says, "I asked Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) about the incident of Asairim." He replied, "He used to refuse to accept Islam in front of his people. On the occasion of the Battle of Uhud, when the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) headed towards Mount Uhud, he felt inclined towards Islam and accepted Islam. Then he took up his sword and set out. He reached the people and entered their ranks, and fought with such bravery that eventually he fell wounded. When the people of Banu Abdul-Ashhal were searching for their slain, they also found him lying on the battlefield. They said, 'By Allah, this is Asairim, but how did he get here? When we left him, he was still a denier of this religion.' Then they asked him, 'Amr! How did you come here? Was it to defend your people or because of the attraction of Islam?' He said, 'Because of the attraction of Islam. I have believed in Allah and His Messenger and I have become a Muslim. Then I took up my sword and set out, and participated in jihad along with the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Now, whatever wounds were destined for me, I have received them.' Shortly after, he died in their hands. The people mentioned him to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), so the Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'He is among the people of Paradise.'"

It is narrated from Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Offer the Fajr prayer when it becomes bright, for its reward is greater."

It is narrated from Mahmood bin Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "What I fear most for you is minor shirk." The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by minor shirk?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Showing off (riya)." Allah Almighty will say to the show-offs on the Day of Judgment, "When people are being rewarded for their deeds, go to those for whom you used to perform deeds to be seen by them in the world, and see if you find any reward with them."
