Musnad Ahmad Hadith 9913

Uthman bin Shamas says that once Marwan passed by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), so he said, "Keep some of your hadiths from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) safe." After a little while, he came back. We thought in our hearts that now he will speak disrespectfully about Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) (because there was some displeasure between them). Marwan said, "Which supplication did you hear the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recite in the funeral prayer?" He replied, "I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) say: O Allah, You alone created him, You alone provided for him, You alone guided him towards Islam, and You alone took his soul. You know all his hidden and apparent matters. We have come to You as intercessors for him, so forgive him."
