حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ زِيَادٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " لَيْسَ الْمِسْكِينُ مَنْ (٢) تَرُدُّهُ الْأُكْلَةُ وَالْأُكْلَتَانِ، وَاللُّقْمَةُ وَاللُّقْمَتَانِ - أَوِ التَّمْرَةُ وَالتَّمْرَتَانِ شُعْبَةُ شَكَّ فِي اللُّقْمَةِ، وَالتَّمْرَةِ - وَلَكِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ لَهُ غِنًى يُغْنِيهِ، وَلَا يَسْأَلُ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا "، أَوْ " يَسْتَحْيِي أَنْ يَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ إِلْحَافًا " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated with the same chain that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: The needy is not the one who is turned away with one or two dates or one or two morsels; the real needy is the one who does not have financial means himself and does not go around asking others persistently.
