حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ ابْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، عَنْ جَدَّةٍ، لَهُ وَكَانَتْ سُرِّيَّةً لِعَلِيٍّ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ عَلِيٌّ: كُنْتُ رَجُلًا نَئُومًا، وَكُنْتُ إِذَا صَلَّيْتُ الْمَغْرِبَ وَعَلَيَّ ثِيَابِي نِمْتُ ثُمَّ - قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ فَأَنَامُ قَبْلَ الْعِشَاءِ - " فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَرَخَّصَ لِي " (٢)، •
Translation
English translation
Ibn Abu Laila narrated from Ibn al-Asbahani from his grandmother, who was a concubine of ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه), that she said:
`Ali (رضي الله عنه) said: I was a man who fell asleep easily, and when I had prayed Maghrib and was covered with my garment, I would sleep then - Yahya bin Sa’eed said: I would sleep before `Isha`- I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about that and he granted me a concession.
